View Full Version : GTA Vice City, now 50% more dirt on the xbox!
I knew waiting patiently for the xbox versions of the GTA serise would pay off and in and spades. Screw the improved load times, graphics upgrades, custom soundtracks, give me more dirt, baby, 50% more dirt.
From IGN.
"Rundown neighborhoods in the Haitian parts of town look jacked up with trash and junk everywhere that looks 50% dirtier than the rubbish found in the PS2 game."
Now, that's what I'm talking about, the real xbox advantage. Cry your eyes out, ps2 owners.

Proof positive that ps2 owners have no sense of humour. It's a joke son, let me draw you a road map.

Man, I wonder if that dirt comes on the PC version, if so that seals my purchase for the game.

How did they figure out it was "50% more dirt" anyway? WHy not 60% or 40%?

I think 50% sounds better. For me, it just came across as anal-retentive to the max. What are these guys wasting their time on anyway. Don't they have a ton of upcoming games to wade thru and profile instead of examing the "rubbish" content of GTA Vice City. Wow, cool dude, there's an extra overturned garbage can in the xbox version, that's so *****in'.

I'm about to go take mine off of preorder because I honestly was hoping for a control overhaul with NO AUTO AIM. TUrns out IGN said that the aiming is just as jerky and worthless as in the PS2 version. Xbox could have EASILY mimmicked the kb and mouse aiming of the PC version, hell, XBox mimmicks plenty of FPS this way, why not GTA?

You wouldn't want Rockstar to admit, that the aiming in the GTA series is crap, do you, or pro reviewers to admit, that they should have knocked points off their review scores for crude gameplay mechanics. The GTA games have a lot going for them, but these games definitely do not deserve scores in the 9's. Aiming is terrible, and the driving controls are sloppy.

Actually, I thought the driving controls were ok on the PS2 version but what appeals to me most about the Xbox versions is the draw in distance is over 2x as high as PS2...according to that same page from your initial post, PS2 had draw distance for about 2 blocks, Xbox will have 4-5 blocks draw distance....i.e. no more garbage truck appearing out of thin air in front of you.
Yea, and aiming sucks, couldn't have told any "pro" reviewers that thoguh...what is funny though, is that when the next GTA is released for PS2 and winds up looking just as ugly as the other PS2 GTA's and since XBox will have the older ones to compare to it's really gonna make PS2 look bad.
The dirtier the better :D

As an Xbox owner I was always jealous of the GTA series, and they had me when they announced that Rockstar was coming out with the Xbox version. And they sealed it when I was told about the graphics updates and custom soundtracks. So you can bet your ass I'll pick up a copy, which one is better, lll or VC?

I play this one on PC--graphics and control totally make the Ps2 version seem like utter ass.
I just like Vice City better. . . the whole Miami 1980's spoofing, the missions crack me up, the voice acting is better, you can buy buildings on your way to being a crime lord. And yeah, you can do custom soundtracks, but the soundtrack it comes with is great; lots of cheesy eighties stuff that comes off much better here than it did in the eighties, because it really creates this total atmosphere for the game. And then, all the talk radio stations you've got to listen to, they are so funny at spoofing everything from fear of communism and nuclear war, religious nuts rambling on and on, and young republican mentality--all that 80's garbage yields a lot of humor. I love the religious talk radio station.
And the motorcycles; and the helicopter; and the funny little old jewish retirees, and people wearing those stupid red and black michael jackson jackets--you just gotta shoot those pedestrians on general principle.
When I first started playing this game, before I figured out what I was doing, I got beat to death by a couple gay guys. Too funny.
This is not just a game, and it's not just good social satire, it's a freaking work of art.

This is one of GTA3's and Vice City's fundamental flaws: the disappearing cars and the spawning cars. It would be nice if the Xbox version could use more memory to remember cars and other objects that you have moved. Nothing more frustrating than carefully building a multi-car roadblock, only to find it vanished when you turned around. I call this the David Copperfield glitch.

So for the Xbox version, are both games supporting Custom Soundtracks or what?

Absolutely Whaxx. GTA3 and VC will both support custom STs.
I would have not even bothered with the set if the OST feature wasn't implemented. Rockstar has really gained much respect from me for not only the soundtrack feature, but also the graphics optimization for Xbox as well. GTA will now look CLASSY on XBox, not ugly and marred like on PS2.
Now if only all devs would optimize their games for Xbox then maybe XBox would be more successful.
