View Full Version : I have no Wii.

Turns out that my sister sold it because she needed cash. Turns out that it's been gone for over a month, and she thought that I would forget about it because I already have so many other systems. She did keep my wands and other accessories, and my reciept for the Wii.
So this is how I found out:
ME - *calls sister* Hey, I'm going over to pick up my Wii, because I bought a new game that I need to play.
SIS - Sure, come over!
ME - *whistling, hopping and skipping all the way to her house, giddy with anticipation to play some Corruption.* I even took the game over to her house to show my nephew.
ME - So, where's my Wii?
SIS - Oh, the Wii? I thought you were talking about the Game Cube?
ME - No. *starts to worry*
SIS - Oh. Well, I sold it a few weeks ago because I needed to pay my car payment. *starts laughing*
ME - You joking, right? Please say you are.
SIS - *stops laughing*
ME - Oh sh!t, man. You suck ass-crack.
SIS - I didn't think you'd want it so soon, and didn't you say that you could play all the game on the Game Cube?
ME - I said you could play all Game Cube games on the Wii! And I told you I'd want it back when new games came out, which I told you about last week, and you didn't even tell me then.
SIS - I'll have your money in a couple of months.
ME - Sure. At least i can stare at the box for my new game and read about other people playing it. Thanks, ya jerk. *begins the long, slow, gloomy walk back home empty-handed*
SIS - you can take the Game Cube if you want to!
ME - I already have one, genius.
SIS - then there's really no problem, right?
ME - *slaps own forehead in disgust and continues walking*
So now I have to start me a new freaking WIi fund, because my sis has never payed me back for anything, ever, and even if she would, it would only be a twenty here, and twenty there.
I'ma little bit pissed off. Just a little.

Well, if it's any consolation, you're telling of the tale will bring laughter into the lives of other's.
And tears too. I feel your pain.
Corruption, all by itself, made it feel like I just got a brand new console under the TV.

Yeah, I know I would laugh if I had read about this misfortune, if it was someone else. Thank Jeebus I didn't lend her my 360, which was the original plan, until I saw that Bioshock would be here before Corruption.
It's a good thing that Nintendo games feel fresh when you play them, no matter how old they are, and that there isn't any multi-player. I think I would been super pissed, and maybe would've got rid of my PS3 to fund my Wii purchase if Corruption was online. But since it isn't, I don't have to worry as much. I still want to play this game badly, and it double sucks that I have the game, but none of my friends have a Wii. Hell, they're still barely buying PS2 systems!

Damn dude, sorry to hear it. Thankfully my sisters have no clue what the different game systems are, and my mom keeps referring to my "Gamebox" (GameCube? Xbox? Who knows), so I don't have to worry about that. Well at least you didn't lend her your 360 or your PS3. Those would have been a b**** and a half to buy back.

If money isn't an issue, then the Wii is probably the harder one to buy just because store shelves are still empty. At least here they still are. Everywhere they sell as fast as they land.

Man, you're taking it well. If anyone sold anything I owned, I'd be raising utter hell. Granted, she's your sister, and the fact she had to use it for a car payment makes it...eh...semi excusable, I guess. But I wouldn't let it slide, I'd expect to be paid back in full.
On a good note, they're not too expensive. You could pick one up in a couple of days and be Metroiding away with the rest of us in no time.

Waitaminute... it took you over a month to realize it was gone? What does that say about the system, right there?!
You sound like this other guy I know. He lent his Wii to a friend... it's been over 4months now... and this guy says he doesn't really care if he ever gets it back; he doesn't miss it.

I missed it, because I never did finish playing through Twilight Princess or the most excellent platformer, Super Paper Mario, but it was easy to miss when playing games on my other systems. DiRT was the first game to start hogging away my Wii time. Then it was the PS3.
And about getting a new system in a hurry, I don't expect that to happen with all of the killer games that will be releasing in the next few. I gots to get Heavenly Sword, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Lair, Home will be released in a bit. I know I'll be forced to get another Wii when Mario Galaxy comes out. By then, maybe I can save up all the scraps that my sister throws my way to have enough for the Wii then. Corruption isn't open, so I can just trader that back in for Lair.
We'll see though. It was easy to deal with not having the system because I assumed that it was just right next door for me to go pick up whenever I wanted, but now that I know it's gone for good, well I want it all the more. plus I was eager to get my component cables to play in almost HD.:D
Now, a couple of serious issues/questions.
1. Have you guys seen anyone online on my ex-Wii, you that were on my friends list? I'm afraid that someone could be using my identity. Although my sis said she sold it to one of her friends who wanted it for her 5 year old. What a waste.:(
2. Can I recover my name and such when I do get a new Wii? Like all my VC games?
3. She also said that she kept my games, but it turns out that she was looking at Game Cube versions.
D'OH!

1) No, I don't think there is any place within the options or Mii channel that tells you when a friend is online. I could send you a message however. Maybe some dirty pics. How's that for some revenge?
2) Don't think so. Not certain however.
At least you still have your Wii Wii.

Was at Target last nite picking up the new Collective Soul cd, and of course had to stop by the vg section...
I couldn't believe my eyes: they had at least 7 Wii's in stock.
I've never seen a Wii in real life before. I mean I've seen the one's in the kiosks all over the place, but I've never seen a brand spanking new one in the box before. I was almost tempted...
If it were just one or two, I might have just done it. Because finding one is such a rarity, you know? But because there were 7 of them, it felt like they were pretty regular. Hmmm...

When you laid eyes on it, did spotlights suddenly materialize on the ceiling and an operatic voice come on the loudspeakers?

i once had this same problem.. when i had the playstation one and a friend wanted to borrow it and play tomb raider or something. (remember when everone was lara-crazy back then) yeah i kept asking him where it was. and he kept saying he'll get it he just forgot it at home. so i show up and pick it up and he loses the tomb raider game and an A/V wire. (desperate attempt to keep the ps one) so i take what's there and never called the guy again. we literally just stopped talking to each other LOL. after that u'd have to go hours on end trying to convince me to let you borrow anything game related from me. even now i ask for collateral.

You're a saint for even lending your Wii (or any console for that matter) to anybody in the first place. I don't mind so much about lending games out, but the hardware itself? Dang.
What a serious set o' balls - selling off things that don't even belong to her.

Yeah, I'm the nice one in my clan, which occasionally leads to my being taken advantage of. It doesn't bother me, because they are just material items, after all. Now, of course, if one of my family members went and took out all my funds from my bank without asking to fund something that wasn't a necessity, I'd be slapping mouths. Same if they had walked into my room and just took my junk without asking. But if they ask, I give.

I'll never lend out another console, or game ever again. A couple of years ago I lent someone Munch's Oddysey... it came back scratched. Last Christmas I let my nephew borrow my N64... #@$%er still has it.
Or, he better still have it.(!) If that little $#!% sold it off or traded it away... I'll #@$%ing murder him! And this is the way I feel about a console that's two generation's old.
