I think this holiday season will be interesting. The Wii should continue to climb, especially with Metroid Prime 3 just coming out and titles like Wii Fit, Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. in the pipeline for the holidays.

The Xbox 360 is the one I am watching. I am curious what effect the price drops will have, especially now that you don't have to buy a mem card for the tard pack and it comes with some Arcade titles. The Premium bundle at $350 should do really well and I suspect the Elite will keep chugging along at about the same rate. Who knows how well the Halo system will sell. I am predicting though that Halo 3 will also bolster sales of the Xbox 360 overall and Bioshock really seems to be catching on and selling better than (I think) 2K even expected. Follow Halo 3 and Bioshock with Mass Effect, Assasin's Creed, the best selling versions of the EA Sports titles and Project Gotham Racing 3, the Xbox 360 should be the champ again this holiday season.

The PS3 though? It's not moving really well right now. Usually a price drop of $100 really starts moving hardware, but it just didn't seem to help with the PS3. When the supply of $499 units is depleted, how will the $599 bundle fare? I'm sorry, but I just don't see Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted moving systems.

If the metric is number of units sold, I think Wii is gonna hold that down on a month to month basis as long as the retail price of 360 is hovering near or above $400. Wii is LESS than last generations systems!! That's a big deal around XMAS time, u can come out of the store with some change left over from your $500, and still have a Wii, two controllers, and a few games. You buy an Elite and a game and a HDMI cable that's a wrap! The nextgen systems are a hard pill to swallow for the average mom and pop.

PS3 is hurt in either metric. They've already shot their load with the price drop. Most of those cheap systems should be depleted by XMAS leaving people with only the $600 console. All the games are looking rather anemic. Unfortunately it all comes down to Rachet&Clank, a dependable title, but not really a system seller and Unreal Tournament which is not a game popular to the masses. Plus bad news about Blu-ray will continue to spread throughout the electronics retail channel.
