VGR Top 25 Deadline Approaching

Seems unwise to include a game that new. . . there's just now way for any gamer to put perspective on it, as to how high on the list it belongs, even if you feel it belongs on the list.

I should get off my ass and make a list. Just feels weird. . .there are so many games and types of games that I haven't played that are certainly "all time greatest games." My list would be limited to the kinda stuff I buy, which makes it extra subjective. The reason I haven't done it is because I feel my list would be kind of irrellevant; I don't actually believe my own "all time greatest" are really the all time greatest games.

Dude, that's what it's about; that's the whole point of this - it's YOUR list; YOUR rankings; YOUR experiences... nobody else's. Don't be trying to empathize or transfer anything here. Don't worry about what anybody else thinks - just yourself.

Yea I was actually planning on keeping the lists private, but if you guys want your individual lists published, by all means let me know. Of course it wouldn't be until after the main list has been up by itself for a bit.

As far as changing the deadline, I'd rather keep it to this Sunday, unless more than 5 people ask me to change it. I haven't got too many lists in so if more than 5 people need extra time trust me I would be exstatic.

That is kind of the idea. This is the list of games you like. One of mine was a Commodore 64 game and another was an Atari 2600 game. Had a couple of DOS games too.

I'm completely indecisive when it comes to making lists like these. In all honesty, I never felt like you could really do a best 25 Videogames of all time, but it could be done if it was genre-specific, like best 25 RPG's of all time, because at least that way we can compare them on a technical level by the standard set by that genre.

Yeah, I ended up not ranking any NES games. I did rank some old DOS games though which were truly revolutionary and could still hold up against today's games given a fresh coat of paint. There aren't really too many NES games that had gameplay which could rank with today's games if you just upgraded the graphics.

That's because nobody likes 2-D gamage anymore. Plus, back then we had a d-pad and 2 buttons. Now controllers have over 10 regular gaming-use buttons without including the analog or d-pad, but I did include the clicking of the analog sticks as buttons.

I actually had no problem at all putting NES games on the list. I even put an Atari 2600 game on the list. What ultimately matters to me is the fun factor. I judged each game on my list by how much fun they were for me to play, and that is a criteria which doesn't require any comparison across generations. To me it is rather pointless to make such a comparison, as we are talking about a different age, where game design was governed by different ideals.

I think the majority of my list were 8/16 bit games, as well as 32/64 bit games. Actually, there's only one game from the current gen that I felt deserved to be on my list (though it did get a high rank indeed!).

I can understand that idea. I was debating whether to rank the games based on how much fun I had with them at the time, or overall in the grand scheme of things. I went with the latter but had I not we could have easily seen me list all the 8-bit Rockman and Castlevania games there along with oher games I wasted so much time on as a kid like Wrecking Crew, Excite Bike and Ice Climber.
