OK, so its the spin off Crystal Chronicles, which also has a DS version. The game did well enough for a GC title, but it was a little overlooked due to the multi-player using GBA as an interface. It was a beautiful and interesting game, and even the single-player was fair before, but not quite right.
Anyway, the first trailers for the game on the Wii are up in Japan, just click on the screen (apparently the icon for "play" is in Kanji, too.) http://www.ffccnews.jp/2007/05/85.html
Nintendojo has some description of some of the decision that have been taken to split the game into both a multiplayer and a single player game, which should help gamers who don't have friends who are into this sort of thing:

Eurogamer has a preview up for the Wii and DS iterations of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles that includes interview snippets from Akitoshi Kawazu, the executive producer of both games. Kawazu explains that the criticisms of the first Crystal Chronicles (which was released on the GameCube a few years ago) were not lost on the development staff, and that feedback fueled the decision to split the series into a single player-focused title and a multiplayer-focused title.
The DS version will focus primarily on the multiplayer experience, although the emphasis will be on local multiplayer rather than internet-based play. Kawazu suggests that the game mechanics are better-suited to local play (timing is apparently a big part of the magic mechanic, as it was with the original Crystal Chronicles) and adds that the game is ill-suited to lag, a potential problem with online co-op.
The Wii version will focus on a single-player experience and is “a new direction” from the original Crystal Chronicles, according to Kawazu. “While it's still action orientated,” he explains, “with the Wii game we've chosen to focus on the experience of the solo player in immaculate detail. This game will be the more story driven of the two and will really play like an interactive adventure storybook.”
Kawazu also offered up some tidbits about the Wii version’s controls. He explains: “The protagonist has a fire type weapon that will be shot with the controller's trigger and, likewise, an airship will be controlled by tilting the Wii controller. We have lots of clever ideas for how to integrate the Wii's functions into the game mechanics."
The DS version is scheduled for release in Japan in August; no North American date has been set yet. The Wii version does not yet have a release date, although Square-Enix has released an official trailer for the game.
I dabble in a lot of genres, and am only really enthusiastic about a few, so this game is not a "must have" for me though I think it will be a stand out in the lite-rpg genre. It looks like a game with huge potential to refine and expand on its Gamecube predecessor. Hopefully it succeeds at that goal.
What do you guys think? Care? Play the first one? Looking forward to this installment?
