I successfully installed the game. No matter how I try to actually begin the game, the same thing happens. The screen goes black as if the game is starting to load an intro movie, and then it shuts itself down and I get booted back to the desktop.
I have already tried the patch and a noCD exe. No matter what, the same exact thing happens...
The game is a legitimate copy, owned by my roommate. There is no CD key.
I'm stumped. When this game was released was there anyone having similar problems...?

That the disc itself shows no sign of defect and the game works fine on my roommate's PC...
Go to a Hitman forum, it's probably been answered there. Check if the game needs certain video codecs. Are you running XP? XP doesn't include the Indeo codecs, which some games use for movies, and you you have to download with a Windows update. Could be a video driver issue, or just an OS issue. Might be some missing .dll that you need.

This is what I dug up regarding EXACTLY what you described as happening in Hitman2:
Sound accelaration issue: AT start up, screen goes black; some instances CTDT
Sound acceleration issue:
Start>Run...type dx dialog, press ok. Dx opens, go to sound tab. There adjust slider down a notch or two.
Have read several complaints re: this issue, all have same fix listed above.
Archemage, plese RSVP on fix, especially if different than one above.
Thanks

I didn't find a Hitman site per se but the Eidos site had a fix similar to ETs...
It told me to turn sound acceleration ALL the way down which also worked but really messed the sound up in-game.
ET's fix worked much better... but I'm not sure I like the game anyway...

Like I said, if you want true espionage, go for Thief... but you're on the right path with Evil Islands... good stealth based game indeed.

Of three sites I visited, the "black screen" was #1 complaint.
Most users reported that they only had to turn down sound accel a notch or two though.....
If you play Hitman2 through, would like your impressions, hopefully improving over initial take, lol.
