Good read.

Good read, but nothing we didn't know earlier. It's surprising he left out the 360 though, since that's the direct competitor of the PS3 rather than the Wii.

That's a fracking terrible read. These mainstream frackers who casually cover the videogame industry don't know jack squat. They're the last people you want to discern information from.

It's funny how poor this article is. They even had to appologize for messing up the Wii price at the end after the article.

Their comment about reusing the PS2 controller design for the PS3 controller was some funny stuff... It made the writer sound like a complete bafoon. Here it is:

"Why change something that is already installed in 200 million homes worldwide? Answer: because there are more people in those homes that don't play games, and hundreds of millions more homes to win over."

Dang, so it is only in 200 million homes? So I guess that isn't alot... I think this guy is over estimating the Wii controller here by a large margin. There are some that think it's good and some that laugh at it and think it is silly. Some that like it at first until the novelty wears off.

All in all, a pretty bad read from CNN Money.

"the Cell is an amazing beast that can do seven tasks at the same time."

Ouch.

It also helped drive up the cost of the PS3 to $600, a record price for a console

I remembering the 3DO costing $700 when it hit.

Chris Taylor is very anti-Sony as well as ignorant.

The article wasn't written by gamers for gamers, but interest in gaming extends to readers who have pretty limited interest on the topic too. But there is becoming a widespread interest in gaming among people who didn't before, and people who read CNN Money are also people who have kids who might want a game console. Wouldn't it be great to find out you could get your kid "the more fun" console and save yourself $350 in the process?

Again, this kind of article isn't anything gamers here didn't know, but its a huge blow when one of the worlds major media outlets is calling your company a shame and a failure and praising your competitor. THAT is what is important about this article: that it exists and where it was published, not that it brings new info to those of us who follow the industry obsessively.

It bugs me because uninformed non-gamers and casual gamers are going to be just as uninformed after they read this prating.

I agree. I like accuracy in the media. But, all I'm saying, stories like this are good for nintendo and bad for sony.

Yet we also get stories from "non gamer" sources praising the PS3 and making it top pick, like it being the #1 important gadget in T3 we had recently. Sometimes you have to wonder what these journalists are doing.
