I really don't know where to start. Ok I bought a PS3 last Nov. All freaked out and itching to play it. But within' about a month I was looking on the otherside of the fence (360) so I caved. There I was playing an X2.
But the stangest part was I bought a PS3 for it's J-Rpgs. Yet upon seeing upcoming J-Rpgs announced for Xbox like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, I developed some sick fascination in playing this genre on an Xbox. It just felt so new and refreshing. Thinking of playing them on PS3 was expected and almost felt kinda old. The other strange thing is, 360 feels newer to me then PS3 even there is a year gap.

I'm in a similar position. Not necessarily my wanting to play JRPG's but rather are feeling like my PS3 is a $600 paper weight. Well that's sort of an exaggeration but the fact of the matter is I never play my PS3 and the only time I use it is to watch Blu ray movies and I don't even do that all too often. It's becoming increasingly difficult just to hold onto this machine for it's future potential when that future is seemingly not even on the horizon.

I'm *soo* tempted to pick up a 360 but I'll wait until I get a monitor/TV for it first. I want to pick up Super Robot Wars XO already.

Holding the PS3 controller for a week and then going back to the 360 controller is the reason I often feel that the 360 has more of a next gen feel to it, plus the startup and login is fresh and bright looking compared to the PS3's rather dark PSPish desktop appearance. Still, the 360 is very loud compared to the almost completely silent PS3, the only thing I ever hear out of the PS3 is beeps, that's it. The PS3 looks a little bit more finely crafted physically, but that's just an opinion really. Give it time, you'll be plenty glad you held onto your PS3 soon enough...aren't there a few PS2 games you could play on it in the mean time? I'm just now trying the first God of War and it seems ok so far.

I'm going out today to see if I can hunt down a PS3 copy of Enchanted Arms. I've been playing PS2 JRPGs on the PS3 and have yet to play a next gen game on it, and that title has been out for the 360 for a while. I looked in the 360 forum here, but there was no mention of it. Elsewhere on the web it has been getting decent reviews, and from perusing the official website the PS3 version has significantly more content.

I played it on 360 and it felt a lot different than traditional JRPGs. It's more like a combination of pokemon + SRPG. I didn't play that much but I don't think I will pick it up for ps3. Then again, I thought Blue Dragon was not very impressive.

There isn't much to play on PS3. It was somewhat the same when PS2 first came out. You would probably feel that PS2 was more next gen than 360 when 360 first came out if you are going by how many games are available and coming between a 1 1/2 year old console and a 4-5 month old console.

There's precious little for me to play on either console at the moment. That'll come to an end in June and July respectively with the release of NGS and Lair. I may even pick up Mass Effect next month.

That's what I've waiting on too. I was suprised to see the Wii have more RPG development than PS3. Though it's only been 5 months. I'm sure the JRPG support with pick up for PS3. Developers still have miles to go with the PS2 and the PS3 seems to be built for a longer than average lifespan.
The machine with the most RJPG goodness (in sheer numbers) seems to be the DS. Most of which I've been disappointed with so far, though I read Lunar Knights is the shiznit. I'll be picking it up, but this may be a good time to upgrade the graphics card on my pc and max out the ram. I may be waiting longer than my customary year to get a next-gen console this time.

The two games I've been playing the most on the PS3 has been Need for Speed: Carbon and Madden 07, two multiplat games.
Folken's right, it's the same as the PS2 when it first came out. Some games at launch and now it's the waiting game. I'm not surprised by it, and I was actually expecting it to happen since the Playstation systems have usually had the bulk of its games come out at certain points of a year, instead of a more spread out release that the Xbox and now 360 games seem to have.
My drought will be over if I decide to get Spiderman 3. It will be for the PS3, though I'm not sure if I want the collector's edition or not. The extra playable character really has to feel worth an extra $10. After that, it will be Ninja Gaiden Sigma, which is a definite buy.

From EGM #215
"The PS3 port adds more golems, some Sixaxis support and extra cut-scenes. Graphically, the game just LOOKS BETTER ON THE 360, as jagged edges and some pop-up plague the action.
Bottom Line: It's a lazy port of an average game...skip it."
So much for the PS3 version. Yet another game that suffered severely in the transition from the 360 to the PS3. It's not even funny anymore.

Sorry for my bash-fest on the PS3 Ocelot (and others). I waited on this thing and it's been nothing but a disappointment to me. No more needs to be said.
I understand how it feels "new & refreshing" to play a genre that was neglected in the last generation on the Xbox 360. The MystWalker games look excellent and I have high hopes for games like Fable 2 and Mass Effect.

Hey, no worries '78. I've had my PS3 gripes a more than one occasion. As Folken said, the PS2 was really no better and back then I sold it to get a Gamecube. I'm keeping my PS3 mostly because I don't want to take a loss if I sell it and I know that there will be quite a few must haves. But for now it's basically a brutally expensive PS2/DVD player.

I wish the Ps3 had just rolled in with its extra year dev time and was kicking ass, games, interface, control, all that. I WISH that badly. I don't want to be an xbot, I still don't relish MS controlling another aspect of my digital life.
But. . . . .

I'm with ya there. The PS3 coulda kicked ass but fell short. As far as M$ is concerned? I also agree, that was my biggest issue...but they just keep getting it right. After all the smack talk Iaid on Xbox and 360, I ended up a happy owner of both...360 moreso!
I'II won't bash Sony but, get it together fellas. Tides are turning.

I don't understand this. You don't like using MS stuff... don't use their stuff. It's just a shame that you'd cut them out of the one area where they're excelling (no pun intended), where they deserve support, and where you'd get the most enjoyment out of the use of their product.

While I see where Gaddy's coming from, my hatred for M$ has subsided, I respect them for the tremendous effort they've put into Xbox. As long as they deliver I'll support it.

I see you don't understand. I use a lot of MS stuff; I even use their media player and rip my songs in wma format. And I will not turn my back on the 360 if it wins on the games. I'm not that big a hater, I just didn't really want to see them dominate another industry for certain reasons having to do with past monopolist behavior.
But more than that, the reason I said I wished Ps3 were doing better is because I like my Ps2 and so the Ps3 would have been my preferred console for b/c, and for certain franchises. But they've lost most of their exclusivity, and its starting to look like a mighty few cool exclusives for the next 2-3 yrs at least to justify that $600 price tag.
So the odds are, I'll be getting a 360 with a Ps3 way way off in the future. Right now I just don't feel that motivated to get either, but trust me you don't need to fear that I'd "cut them out of one area where they're excelling." I have no qualms about buying the 360 because it's an MS product, I just wish the Ps3 hadn't bungled so much because I like the hardware, the blueray movie playback and in generally still have really positive feelings towards Sony as a game company,

What, you're afraid that they'll charge a higher price for their games... that they'll force you to buy proprietary formats and accessories... that they'll lie; overpromise and underdeliver; and use smoke & mirror tactics when talking about future hardware and software... that they'll repeatedly release revised hardware just a year after a launch... what? What could MS do that Nintendo and Sony haven't already done?
I tell you what, they could do it and then get *****ed out for it - Nintendo and Sony never could suffer that.
I use a lot of MS stuff; I even use their media player and rip my songs in wma format...
Like I said. What, you don't fear an MS monopoly in the downloadable songs and portable music player industry?
I don't want to be an xbot, I still don't relish MS controlling another aspect of my digital life.
Just reminding you of what you said earlier, because you seem to have forgotten.
