View Full Version : Sony Screws Gamers: Round...well, I lost count...
Gamer From '78

Adding to the long string of travesties Sony has heaped upon it's fanbase, the lastest sees Sony removing the 20-gig model from their online store and retail stores as well as NONE being available at retailers across the globe. The writing is on the wall folks.
This, hot on the heels of the $600 sticker-shock, piss-poor multiplatform titles, tech-demo In-Disguise aka MotorStorm, no standard HD cables in the box and numerous other offenses.
Just another SHINING example of how Sony could care less what the consumer wants and being completely ignorant of the most important fact: THEY ARE LOSING THE CONSOLE WARS!
And as for the "I can get HDMI cables for yadda, yadda, yadda..." argument, if they are so damn inexpensive, why didn't Sony include them to begin with??? It's just another way for Sony to milk gamers. They know most high-def gamers don't have 1080p sets, so they have to shell out $30 or more for the component cables. Y'know...the same cables included FREE with the Xbox 360 Premium bundle?
And sorry Sony Defense Force boys, the "Blu-Ray" excuse doesn't wash with me or other people who want a new system for it's primary purpose...TO PLAY GAMES!!! I could care less that the PS3 has Blu-Ray included. I could care less about the disc capacity. Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360 is spanned across 3 DVD discs. Is a disc-swap such a big deal? And from everything I have read and what Sony and their possee don't want you to know...Blu-Ray discs get scratched AND STOP WORKING!!!
There is just so much wrong with the PS3 from it's insane price-point, to it's piss-poor performance when running games, to it's Bluetooth-dies-on-you-in-the-middle-of-gaming controllers and the lack of force feedback...I could go on and on, but you guys get the point.
What purpose is there in buying a $600 machine with ass games and the only games that are good are BETTER on the Xbox 360? So here we go with the comparisons, since I know you LOVE them from me!
PS3 with one game and Official Component cables: $700 plus taxes
Xbox 360 with one game, component cables & Headset: $400 plus taxes
And that's what it boils down to folks. The Xbox 360 has better games & is $300 cheaper. And if you think PS3 is so great, just ask Ocelot. When a self-declared Sony fanboy takes his Splinter Cell back and tells the clerk he got the wrong version and takes an Xbox 360 copy home with him in it's place, it shows just how wrong things are in Sony Land. :mad2:

So you needed to post a new thread to tell us all things we already know?
Well actually I didn't know you got a spanking new xbox 360 with component cables a headset and a game for 400$. Is that true? The premiums come with games now? Does the 480$ 360 come with a game too? I'm really curious about that cuz I didn't know it came with a game. If it comes with a game which game does it come with?

Errr... Tak on an extra $100 to the 360 because of the Wireless adapter, especially since that is a standard next gen feature on both the Wii and PS3 that is packed in.
Also for us people that want an HDMI port, tak on another 80 dollars to the 360.
Now it is still cheaper for a 360 by about 20 dollars.
I'm sick of seeing the price arguement. The 360 is lacking and even their "elite" is lacking. How freaking hard is it for Microsoft to put a wireless card on the motherboard? Even Nintendo is using wireless...

Oh, give this forum a bloody break already with your pathalogical hatred of the ps3 and sony in general and your ridiculous FUD.
Here's a newsflash, clown, 360s break down on a contnual basis, they've been known to scratch game discs, they're engineered like crap, hence the ridiculouys effin power brick and noisy operation and the game lineup ain't that great. From a reliability standpoint, the 360 is a travesty. Over at a blog site called aggravatedgamers a guy has gone thru 11 360 consoles and proved it by taping a conversation with MS support. Eleven 360 consoles! And ocelot is already down 1 360 and on his second. Wanna bet his ps3 outlasts his second 360?
Your price comparsion in an insult to anyone with two brain cells to rub together. Add wifi to the 360, cha-ching $99, add the hidef add on, cha-ching, $199, add 12 months of live, cha-ching $59. The headset you get from MS is garbage and exactly when did MS start giving away a game with the premium in the states. Care to explain.
On top of that, you're stuck with MS's overpriced peripherals. Want extra hdd space, so sorry, cough up $180 for an hdd you can only use with the 360. Want to back up game saves onto a mem card, cough up $40 for a miserly 64megs of space and a mem card you can only use with the 360. This along with MS gouging frequently on dl content, their ridiculous faceplates, gamer pics and themes, this is one outfit that is becoming increasingly difficult to defend. Their elite console is a joke. Their version of hdmi is half assed and an insult. It won't pass thru any high def audio codecs due to 360 bandwidth limitations. MS's spring update is a huge letdown, and virtually worthless.
Sony's component cables are $20 and if you had them for the ps2, you can use those. You can pick up hdmi cables from monprice for $10. And exactly how is sony milking gamers for hdmi cables, you tard, since sony doesn't even offer official hdmi cables. Bluetooth headsets you can pick up if you shop around for $25-$30 and they're wireless. Blu ray discs have been treated with a hardcoat technology and I haven't read anything on HT forums regarding easily scratched bluray discs.
You need to take your meds, you're increasingly out of control. You're looking for any and all excuses to bash the ps3 past the point of reason. You don't own the console, so what the fu#$ do you care, unless of course, you're actuallly secretly yearning for a ps3 and looking to talk yourself out of it with this non-stop barrage of negative ps3 posts.
I'm sorry, but the 360s not that great, either and MS is also effin up in a major way. The build quality of the 360 is vastly inferior to the ps3 and to be blunt, that's enough, imo, to justify the higher price. The 360 is nothing but a ticking time bomb waiting to explode on its owner. MS has done absolutely nothing to improve the 360's dismal reliability record and their recent upgrades in their warranty were the result of numerous complaints from gamers whose refurbished 360s broke down after a few months.
The ps3 has its issues, its going thru the obligatory painful teething ritual. But, the 360 has its own slate of issues and 360 gamers are increasingly irritated by MS's arrogance and apathy.

Good vent WacoKid... We could almost say the extended warrenty on the 360 is a mandatory accessory, so add $60 to the cost.
Actually, my first 360 got the infamous 3 red rings. Sent it to MS and had it repaired. I've since sold that system. I bought another 360 during the Thanksgiving holiday because of the deals and such, I ended up paying only $250 for my premium brand new after some gift card rebates and such. Toys R Us was giving 100 back in gift cards, it was a good deal. I've since sold that system to a buddy at work and made my money back on the machine. It is still running as we speak, I'll let you know when that one breaks down lol...
I personally don't care about Sony pulling the 20GB model. I still would prefer one version of a system. I'm suprised MS hasn't pulled the core which is basically the worst value out there for the money regarding any system available right now.

I would have preferred they keep the 20GB model actually. Or at least, its looks. I don't like the silver trimmings. If the PS3 didn't look so bleak right now, I'd snarf up a 20GB model just "to have it" because it would be like a collector's item now.

Wow, glad to see you guys are still going at it. I would like to speak from experience if I may, and that is that I've had my 360 for about 14 months now and its still working fine.........oh yeah, HALO 3 HALO 3 HALO 3! lol just ****in with ya.
Also it seems that all the games that playstation gamers were raving about are coming to the 360, and if I was to get a 2nd console it hands down it would be the Wii.

Sh*t, okay so check this out. I'm working at psychiatric medium security forensics unit and was talking to 6 of my nursing buddies at the nursing station and out of the blue we started talking about gifts.
All of the girls played the Wii, 4 of them are getting the Wii as a gift and 3 are getting zelda. No freak'n way. 2 of the girls havent played a video game console since the SNES era. Talk about causal gamer domination!

78 would'nt be able to continue to shoot Sony in the ass on a daily basis about the PS3 if they didnt continue to give the videogame world ammunition to do so. Food for thought.
You guys may be getting tired of hearing these things but lets face it the truth hurts. And right now PS3 owners are feeling more pain than those tired of hearing how crappy things are with the Potentialstation 3. Count on that. Other than that let the battle commence.

The Wii is doing really good for the non-gamer...problem is it's the actual gamers who are feeling a bit left out in the cold. This is the first "N" console that simply fails to spark my interest...so far! I know a girl who has one and I'm content to just borrow hers when I need my Paper Mario fix. I'm glad Nintendo has made such a great comeback but I don't like the path they chose to do it.
Hey, I adore my 360. I just can't wait for the nights Mass Effect and Bioshock come out. I'll be up so freakin' late, blood shot eyes, cold pizza with half a can of Diet Pepsi on my end table, controller batteries at 1 bar and a pissed off girlfriend asking my why the f*ck I forgot about her last night...oopps:thumbsup:
Does this mean I now think PS3 is a complete rip off? Hell no...you get a hell of a lot of bang for you buck for what you pay. But for those who just aren't interested in what Sony is offering, then yes thats where you get hosed!

Do you think Nintendo pushed this "Wiimote" gimmick too hard on gamers? Or do you think gamers should've been given a choice to either play with it or play with a standard joystick when purchasing a Wii? :(

U talking about the classic controller for the VC?

Honestly not sure, since I don't have a Wii. I thought the Wii had a normal type attachment that could be used with normal Wii games (at least the ones that don't have the new fangled control scheme integrated into the design).

As far as i know, Wii doesn't have a normal-type controller other than the classic controller. Classic controller only works for the Virtual Console game though.

Not true. He would just take his previous posts, rearrange the paragraphs, add some italics, underline a few lines, swap in the names of more current games, do a spell check, and then post it.

They are called Gamecube controllers. Or an optional "classic" controller, which closely resemble a SNES gamepad with two analog sticks built in.

Yeah, I originally bought one of those wired versions and proceeded to pull the Wii to the floor the first time I used it playing RE4....needless to say I was livid, having gotten used to wireless game controllers I forgot to pay attention...I since went and got a Wavebird wireless controller. At least I can attest to the fact that the Wii will take a 2 meter drop and shrug it off, ain't nothin but a thang...

Bane you are an idiot, consoles ala PS3, 360, and WII are not PC's. Therefore you are comparing apples to oranges.
gamer from 78 was talking about PS3 a console.
Bane you PC geek, I agree some games play better on pc as some are better on consoles but do you really have to be such a PC wh0r3.
BTW - DARK MESSIAH was my favorite PC game last year. AWSOME.

For some reason I thought I responded to this yesterday. The Wiimote idea is great but the problem with it is you have no choice. It's like playing every single PS2 game with the guitar from Guitar Hero. Thank God we have a choice. I think the Wii should allow you to play games like Zelda using the both styles. Also I think it would be wise to have games that don't always take full advantage of the Wiimote. I mean not every DS title uses the touch screen as it was meant for right?
