Who? I only see one name there, is that a first or last name? Or maybe a superhero like Wolverine?

It's about time right? The last game from his series that really changed up gaming a bit was the first Rainbow Six. At that time there wasn't much as far as a strategy FPS crossover, it was cool that they introduced that style of game.

That's Mr. Final Fantasy. Or he used to be. Microsoft funded 2 of his games so his name these days is Ms. Microsoft.

In the mid-1980's, a little company called Squaresoft was set to go kaput, declare bankruptcy....whatever you want to call it. A young (at the time) employee was working on what would be Squaresoft's last release. As a swansong for Square, the game was named Final Fantasy. As in, the FINAL game from Squaresoft. That young talent was named Hironobu Sakaguchi. Of course, Final Fantasy was anything but final for Square and completely turned their fortunes around. I believe Sakaguchi had direct involvement in pretty much all RPG Square projects through Final Fantasy X.

Now, Sakaguchi along with two other well respected names in Japanese gaming have joined forces and formed Mistwalker Studios which is funded by Microsoft.

Because Microsoft is his new sugar daddy.

An old (now) employee was working on what would be the Xbox 360's first significant JRPG release. As a swansong for the XBox, the game was named Blue Dragon. As in, the BLUE Dragon that would be better than Lair. That old talent was named Hironobu Sakaguchi. Of course, Blue Dragon was anything but Blue and for the 360 it would mean just a long line of sugar daddy games that would completely turn the 360's fortunes around. I believe Sakaguchi is going to have direct involvement in pretty much every Mistwalker project from Blue Dragon onwards.

Bioware better not be doing anything other than working on Mass Effect titles! They've got a trilogy to finish! No handing the series off to another dev.house. It's their vision, they need to finish it themselves. Let Obsidian handle KOTOR III... as for a KOTOR MMO... well let's get KOTOR III out first then we can start talking about a new direction for the series.

Oh, that's who it is. Well good for Microsoft on purchasing a human being... I wonder if they come domesticated...

Idocy and false information in this thread.

1. MS funded the development of the games they are publishing

2. Mistwalker is a independent studio.

3. Mistwalker has both DS and Wii projects in the pipeline.

4. Developers hate the PS3

If that comes to pass I'm just gonna stand there and beat my head on a wall for an hour repeating "say it isn't so" over and over. I have absolutely no earthly desire to play a MMO ever in this life or any other, real people are what I seek to avoid and distance myself from when gaming, not invite them to help me waste huge amounts of my time questing for digital mana, booty or whatever. I was pissed that Conan was a MMO, but I've gotten passed that now:mad:

Now why would you be so anti-social as to avoid human interaction? That leads down a dark, damp, murky path that ends up with either a bunch of razor blades sticking out of your wrist or your ego sulking pathetically on the floor of a dingy, dimly-lit bathroom of a brothel with your escort smoking a cigarette in the next room.

In short, play MMOs. They're good for you.

More than likely, it's Bioware's Austin TX (Go Longhorns) new studio that will handle a KOTOR III MMO, if the rumor is true. I personally wouldn't want to see the game go the MMO (or MOO as I almost typed) route.

If Bioware (the Canada studio) works on something else other than the Mass Effect, then I hope it's a Jade Empire sequel.

I do hope the rumor is true about Bioware's Dragon Age RPG and it does hit the PS3.

I'm not a Sakaguci fan. Not all all. There was an interview in GI (The Blue Dragon cover) where he says that the real-time combat that's in a lot of RPGs now is just a fad. Is it really a fad, or is it the result of developers taking the time to do something other than ancient turn based combat for their RPGs?

I'm pretty sure it's a fad, or at least it should be. RPGs are about leveling up a character and increasing their stats so that their stats do the talking. You don't get that in a real-time battle system, since there it's your action that controls what happens. A WoW-like system, which is quasi-turn-based, would be the ideal system for an RPG.

I disagree. You can do the same type of leveling up and increasing your stats in real-time combat RPGs just as you can with turn-based combat RPGs. The fact that (in some games) your actions control what gets leveled up makes real-time rpgs better and a lot more fun. I'd rather have that than hitting "attack" or "magic" and let the game do the fighting for me while my stats are all leveled up regardless of if I'm a heavy magic user or the king of melee.

Jade Empire's combat would be an ideal system for RPGs if the game is based on melee or hand to hand combat. Mass Effect's combat looks to be ideal for shooter-type of rpgs, though that verdict won't be final until it comes out.

I didn't like Jade Empire's system. I never felt like my attacks were getting any stronger, just that I was getting more health, more focus, or more chi. To be honest, if it wasn't for the storyline, I wouldn't have bothered to finish that game. Don't get me wrong the combat system is fun, but there's no feeling of progression at the higher levels.

After playing Jade, I don't think I can ever go back to turn-based combat. I don't know how much I will enjoy quasi-turn based in the future, like KOTOR I & II after playing JE. I felt like my character (Wu The Lotus Blossom) was getting stronger as the game progressed. It seemed like the minions that I struggled against at the beginning were lightweights later on in the game. The only characters that gave me a problem later in the game were the weird looking guys who had black robes, white masks and floated around fighting. I don't know, maybe that had something to do with gaining more health and magic or just getting used to the combat.

One thing I didn't like in the game was the way the weapons were handled. I didn't care for a bar that controlled how long I can wield a sword during combat. It wasn't much of a problem at a high level, but it was kind of annoying at the start of the game.

Yeah I never ever bothered with weapons except when I came up against the golems who were impervious to martial arts/magic. Except since I hadn't been using weapons at all, my focus was ridiculously low since I neglected to put any points in it, so I kept dying in that part until I figured out a way to get past them.
