Anyone looking forward to this? I hear from people in the closed beta that it's a really fun game, and from the previews I've read it seems like it has potential. I'm not thinking of dropping WoW anytime soon, and playing more than one MMO concurrently is pure insanity (as I realized when trying to balance WoW and Guild Wars), but I'm just wondering whether people here are interested in this one.

Nope nope and nope. I find movie MMO's tend to be a little weak (SWG). Not saying it won't be a good game but I find it hard to believe it will be better than other MMO's like Eve or FFXI. Unless you love the LOTR universe. I loved the SW universe though and I hated SWG.

very intrested.
if there was no fee i would buy it instantly, but the online fee ughhhhh
online fees just irk me, and i hate the idea of paying 15 dollars for probably less than 15 hours of gameplay, because i play very little.
if i had time, or was allowed to play non stop, i would play for a month and stop, but paying lots of money:mad2: :cryin:
that is why i play guild wars. no online fee wohoo! i would probably buy wow if there was no fee

Yeah I'm not too crazy about the LOTR universe.
And as far as the monthly fee, yeah I guess that's what GW does well. It was fun while it lasted. What class are you btw Lemonio?

e/mo
(elementalist, monk) i am max level i think it is level 20, and i have a lot of great items no one wants to buy. i have a couple of new charachters at low levels i think. if anyone wants good weapons early in the game, or if anyone wants me to run them through to some area, just tell me and can try running you. i used to be great at guild wars.. i am done with most of the main quest i think, but i forget what the main quest was anyway.

You should join a guild and get into GvG (guild vs. guild). They're pretty fun actually.

I would take the words of anyone playing the LOTR Online beta with a grain of salt... the only people desperate enough to get into such a beta would be hardcore LOTR fans, and for those people chances are regardless of how crappy the game is, they would praise it to high heaven simply because it's LOTR.
That's why I hate licensed intellectual property sometimes....

It was really easy to get into the beta. I was writing an email when I received another email from Gamespot advertising free keys. So I signed up and grabbed the client.
I'll tell you all what it's like on the 6th, when the non-preorder people are allowed to play.

Funny thing, that World Tour thing they have going. Only for people living in the US, Canada, and Australia.

Probably because the European client, which I believe included most of the rest of the world, has already come and gone. This is for the 3 countries that missed out on the action.
Dunno why they called it a world tour though. Maybe it's meant as a tour of Middle Earth or something.

Yeah I think it is the world tour of Middle Earth, but on GameSpot there were Europeans *****ing about how they don't get to go on this tour.

Why? They had a month or two with their beta. We get a couple of weeks with it. I'd say they got the better deal.

Well the World Tour starts in a few days and I was able to get an account for the World Tour by just signing up. Weird, considering I'm not currently in the US. All I need to do now is download the client and start playing when the World Tour rolls around.
Doesn't seem like they put much thought into this "only available in the US" thing.

So I started playing the World Tour today (only available in the US my ass), and it's pretty fun. It's no WoW, but then again I didn't expect that. I haven't gotten too far (I'm level 5), but from what I've seen it tries to emulate WoW. Similar button layout, similar quests, similar quest tracking, similar character screen, hell it's almost WoW: The LOTR Mod. The graphics are pretty and soloing is fun so far. My only issue is that the respawn rate for mobs is ridiculous. I kill an enemy and he literally respawns two seconds later in the exact same spot.
I'll play some more and let you guys know what I think as I move on. For now though, I'll play it while it's free, but it doesn't look like I'll be paying to play it once it comes out.
