"UK, March 23, 2007 - Although the PS3 launch hasn't been the mad scramble we saw when Wii was released, retailers in central London are reporting steady sales on the first day of the console's availability in Europe, with some anticipating a sell out over the weekend.

We spoke to high street stores this morning to see how the PlayStation 3 launch was going and most reported a quiet start with sales expected to pick up tomorrow. HMV in Oxford Street told us that 42 consoles had been sold in about five hours, following a 7am opening. However when asked whether stock might sell out by the end of the day, a representative told us, "We'll just have to see how busy it gets. We've had 100 pre-orders but we've got more units than that for sale in the store".

Meanwhile Tina Kara, manager of the Hamley's branch of GAME, said the store had sold 20 consoles in just over an hour: "This is the biggest launch ever. We've been so busy in the run-up and we expect to sell out by Monday." However, Kara also admitted that more people were still popping into the store, inquiring about Wiis.

"We get a lot of non-gamers asking about the Wii but we just don't have the stock. The PS3 is much better than the Wii but it appeals more to people that love gadgets and technology," she suggested.

Things were also going well at Virgin Megastore's Picadilly Circus branch. While the store didn't hold a glitzy launch night, plenty of PS3s were still ringing through the tills. In fact, a spokesman told us that so many were being sold the store didn't expect consoles to still be available by the end of play today.

So, if you still haven't snapped up a PS3 yet, you probably need to act quickly if you don't want to miss out."

Wow, even the anemic launches in the US and Japan managed to sell out in a matter of mere hours. In the UK, it appears that most just don't care. Hooray for Sony and the butt-raping they are delivering! Hooray!

You see that main problem that Sony didn't anticipate...the Wii. When a room full of Blue Hairs stand around playing Wii Sports all day long how can you win?

Yeah, except when one of those old hags misplaces a rib playing Wii Bowling and sues Nintendo for everything they've got, Sony will be laughing their asses off.

It seems Nintendo has been upstaged yet again by the tactical minds at Sony.

You can't sue someone for you personally being stupid.

Tell that to the guy who successfully sued the company that made his caravan because he thought taking it out on the freeway, putting it on cruise control, and going into the back to make coffee was OK. He won a few million and they gave him a new caravan.

Tell that to the kid who successfully sued his neighbor who ran over his hand with his car...while he was trying to steal the rims off the car.

Tell that to the woman that sued McDonald's because she burned herself on the coffee she just bought from them.

So yeah...in the US, you can sue someone for your personal stupidity.

I've actually heard of stories like this. One was where a guy tripped over a guys fence after trying to break in the house and since it was on the guys property he got money for it.

They've ammend alot of the laws for crap like that.

Ps3's MIGHT sell out by the end of the weekend? Usually your hardcore fanbase is enough to ensure you sell out in a few hours.

With a launch day (launch weekend?) like that, what are the following months going to look like?

The story I heard was about this burglar who climbed some guy's roof, and the roof collapsed and the burglar fell into the house and suffered grevious injury. He sued the guy for having a crappy roof and won.

Are these stories actually true or are they just idiotic urban legends to make fun of the American judicial system? If they had more attorneys like Phoenix Wright crap like that wouldn't happen!
