No single player is a bummer but hell, this type of game coming to the PSN makes me more excited about the possibility of the service then anything MS has done with Live Arcade. Hell, Sony's already on the right track by offering us Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection.

No single player? If so, my interest level has dropped to 0 for this game.
I'll just add something else on my list in its place, maybe even Lair. I actually saw some footage from that game, and it doesn't look as dull as I thought it would.

Man I'm surprised I didn't read this first on System Wars. This is pretty big news and that sucks. Sony just keeps on giving me reasons not to buy their system. This is one of the games I had been following and the story looked kind of interesting, but to just take out the single player like that, I'd rather them delay the game and make it strong all around then just giving us multiplayer.
If this game ends up blowing up online I might have renewed interest in the title, but until then I'm done with this game. Sony can't be doing these kinds of things to us, as a first party game they should have stepped in and told the devs there's no way we're going to let this fly.

I don't know how I feel about this. I mean of course it's more ambitious but honestly what's the point of putting retail caliber games on a DL only service? Will the prices be significantly cheaper? At the end of the day it's still a game you are just playing regardless of how you got it. With these type of games on the network I wonder will small publishers even want to compete with them. I thought DL games were a way for smaller companies who couldn't afford to go the retail route to get there product out there.
I still don't know about this I guess we'll see in time.

Just watched the video and man what the hell was that. That's not Warhawk that's Battlefield. Listening to the devs shows how far behind MS Sony is I mean they are pumping features that have been in games for years (medals Battlefield 1942, voip every single xbox live game ever, Zone terrirority King of the hill by any other name is the same) Even after all that though the game still looks fun actually has probably shot up to my #1 or 2 most wanted PS3 game.
But this is not warhawk. Anymore than MS upcoming FPS is Shadowrun.

Pricing will play a major role in how this game is received. On the other hand, I do like a few of the things they are doing. If this experience comes to you all for less then 30 dollars then it is easily going to surpass anything on Live Arcade. IMO though, Live Arcade has already been surpassed with the release of Dark Resurrection. These are the types of games I would pay money for. Not some rehashed 2d port from the dark ages with slightly better graphics.

The first party lineup is full of so much other 'retail' stuff that I regard this more as an attempt to expand the PSN's downloadable stable of titles. Like the guy in the interview said, they tried to shoehorn in singleplayer and it just didn't work. So, they will throw up what did work and possibly they will charge us much less for it initially. Note: Like with all expandable online experiences, I do think that you will end up spending more money over the long run. But if you stick with it that long then apparantely the game is good.
In the end, what matters to me is that Sony try to expand their portfolio in every single service they are offering with the PS3. Retail wise, there's a lot coming out from Sony's studios like Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Uncharted, R&C3 and various other IP's. They should not lose sight of the downloadable content like MS seems to have done.

There is a decent amount of exlusive content on Xbla. Nothing like Tekken but are those really the type of games for a downloadable service. Xbla arcade problem is too many ports of old games. I mean frogger and Paper boy? Who spends $400 on a hi def game machine for that crap. Heavy Weapon Mutant Storm and Geo Wars should be the focus of xbla. I'd play Heavy weapon over Tekken anyday. And HW is only 10 bucks. Basically I always assumed downloadable games would be the type of games you would rarely see at retail. Sony's approach seems to offer anytype of game online.
Warhawk though sense it's online only makes sense. MS should release Shadowrun over live even though it has singlple player (bot matches) it's primairly and online game.

The version of Tekken we got was basically the arcade version with one mode thrown in from the PSP version. Live Arcade is going to have to expand its size limit, beyond the measly 150mb's they announced at GDC, if they want to bring us the up to date arcade games.

Hey, far be it for me to bring down those two games but just in the type of content offered for the service, Sony's got all bases covered from the small games to the large ones. MS is the one that's getting left behind by just catering to the 2d flash lovers. That's not to say I don't like 2d but the only game I'd currently pay for on Live Arcade, well, I own a much superior retail version of it on PS2 and can play it on my PS3.
