IGN has just put up an early review (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/763/763624p3.html) of the game. Although they haven't been able to test this feature, the game will run at 720p on the PS3.

You took my thunder, Sparrow. I was just about to post the IGN review as well. I like my reviews a bit early, but this is nothing but a tease since we still have to wait another month for the game. I think EB/Gamestop will have demos for pre-orders soon (I was told this week).
I like that at the end of the review, they say that GoW 2 may be the best action game ever made. I thought GOW 1 was #2 behind Ninja Gaiden, and if the new one is even better than the first one, it may well jump past NG for the #1 position. Of course, I know there are a few who will disagree...

I guess now would be a good time to pick up the first one and try it out.....
I've never played it.

Ok, don't push it RBH:p
This isn't the first time I've posted this and it won't be the last. While God of War was an impressive feat for PS2 back then and even seeing what mind blowing visuals from what the sequel is dishing out...I mean....is that coming from PS2?....Nothing can pass the AWE that is Ninja Gaiden. I don't even think the NG sequel will be as good. It's going to take alot of convincing to change my opinion of this.

I still enjoyed playing it though. I plan to buy the original GOW in order to get ready for GOW II come next month. If you dont like stiff challenges Capt.Sony my advise to you is dont even pick up the joystick. This game will indeed push you to the limit. (Like Ninja Gaiden did) Even though GOW II apparently will run at 720p on the PS3 its still a PS2 game.:p

The first one isn't a bad game but it is limited in terms of weapons to collect and master. While the main weapon has a lot of good combos, it just feels limited at the end when you see that you've gone through the whole game relying on nothing but this one weapon. That was my biggest fault with the game. It was like, ok, I've gotten the combos for this weapon down, now what. Played a few stages into God mode and then shelved the game when DMC3 came and consumed my summer.

Man, I need to buy a PS3, and soon. Selling my PS2 was a huge mistake.

??? No kidding!
At first I was gonna chide you about getting a Ps3 game to play a Ps2 game. . . but then I remembered Twilight Princess. I do actually try to avoid blatant hypocrisy.
Still, $600 to get better resolution for a Ps2 game. . . that's painful. I'm not getting rid of my Ps2 anytime soon. . . it's the #1 reason I don't feel that motivated to pick up the Ps3 or 360 yet.

I'm really excited about GoW2. Part one was very good, but too limited in moves and general pacing for Kratos. Part 2 looks to fix those issues. I saw on a preview that Kratos looses his blades and ends up having to use a sword again. Hopefully it has more to it than the piece of crap sword in 1. My problems with 1 were lack of bosses, areas of nothingness, limited moves/weapons for Kratos, and overly-simple platforming. If these things are fixed with 2(which the review and preview say they do), then it could possibly put this action game on top.

It's been so long since I played Ninja Gaiden....but I refuse to buy a used copy (of any game nowadays). Big ass scratches (some almost going through the disc), stinky instruction books that makes me wonder where the game has been, ridiculous pricing.....oh, my bad. That's a subject for another time.
Still, $600 to get better resolution for a Ps2 game. . .
Don't forget about the $500 PS3.

The only things I didn't like in GoW 1 was not being able to get the armor w/o putting up with the frustration that is the Challenge of the Gods and the cheap feeling of the final boss. A few more boss fights would have been a plus, but it wasn't really necessary for me since the game felt seemless instead of a mission to mission type of game.

That was the motivation for using the first game's engine, so they could focus on content rather than the technical aspects of the game. This time we'll be getting a game with much more depth to it.

Yall are crazy! God of War is the best game on the PS2. It's more adventure than action. And cuddly the Sword once fully leveled up was the most powerful weapon in the game. I mean damn so what if there isn't a thousand combos 2 learn. The only real issue I have with the gameplay was the lack in variety of enemy types. But all in all the game is just sick. Can't wait for part 2.

I liked DMC3 better in terms of damn near everything.
Anyway, God of War won't run in 720p. That was just IGN screwing up again. It will run in 480p though but then again, it probably does that on the PS2 as well.

it does do that on the PS2. I had GOW and it runs progressive scan on my little PS2 that could.

God of War 2 demo is available. At least at EBGames and Gamestop.
I still like getting demos from the stores.
