View Full Version : A PS2 now under EVERY tree

I'm in an elite group of sorts...I surf the game websites about PS2, but don't actually own one yet. I was going to get one this week, then stumbled upon the rumour/hopefully-soon-to-be-fact about the next PS2 price drop. If my gut feeling is right, Target will indeed launch a blitz campaign in mid November boasting PS2s for $99! Glad I didn't get one yet, and it's worth the wait. I'm a HALO addict, but have always planned to get a PS2 for the best of both worlds, specifically Tekken 4 and Virtual Fighter 4, both of which have been in shrink wrap for months. I also have Hitman 2 and plan to get HALO's worthy predecessor, Half Life. Any one with Target credentials out there who can make my dreams come true!?
BTW, anyone with an opinion on the PSX and its PVR capabilities?
Someone's selling one on ebay, but when I get an "illegal action" message before the page loads.

Guess it would be cool if they dropped the price to $99 so more people can have them, but sure pisses the rest of us off that paid $200 for JUST the machine a year ago.
Really irked me that I had to buy a network adapter for around $35 and less than a week after I bought one Sony began to bundle the adapters for the PS2 at the same price I paid for just the machine.
I understand that price drops are nice, but they can really cause people to be leary and to postpone purchases of thing they would otherwise buy now. (The reason I almost NEVER buy any of my games new..... it is beter to wait a few months to a year until the price drops)
Companies need to quit being greedy and just release their dang products at a fair price from the get go and quit trying to milk the same cow twice.
Anyways let me get to the reason i replied in the first place......
What is PVR?

To meagher72:
Apparently, there's a silver Playstation that's the next stage of evolution (I saw a picture of it on ebay, but my browser kept showing an "illegal error" message when I tried to call the item up). The "PSX" as I believe it's called includes a PVR or Personal Video Recorder (such as TiVO) and a fairly substantial hard drive (80MB?). Maybe it's still in the development stage, or maybe it's only sold in Japan, but...it's coming.
