I've had the thing for about a week and I figured it was time I made one of these threads. I didn't want to put it in Sys Wars, plus this forum is DOA (same as PS2 forums were 90% of the time) so something needed to be posted here.
System:
+ It's quiet.
- There was nothing on the HDD. Sony could have used that chance to put the demos of Motorstorm and NBA 07 on there for gamers to try, and use the video section to have a lot of footage of upcoming games for '07.
Controller:
+ It's wireless. I don't have a problem with a lack of rumble feature. I think it's overrated, and would only drain the charge on the battery. I don't even use the feature on my 360 controller.
- It doesn't seem to charge when the system is off. During my first time charging the controller, it took three (quick) gaming sessions to get a full charge. Sixaxis feature may end up being gimicky. There's no way to replace battery w/o unscrewing controller. Even then, is it worth tinkering with yourself?
Games:
+ There are some good games coming, including Heavenly Sword, MGS4, and Mercenaries 2 (my early frontrunner for GOTY). Also may have the best baseball game coming out in MLB 07, which should look great and have solid gameplay since it's not multiplatform like MLB 2K7.
- There's not really a lot out for the system now. I got Dark Kingdom (not bad, but if there were more out I would have passed it by) and Tiger Woods 07. I should be alright with those for a while.

Good review...the only problem with it was....it was too short. lol
Either way I agree with you for the most part. I do feel the lack of rumble is lame. I like the feature myself and playing my 360 just adds this feature back into the mix so well.
Sixaxis. Many seem to think it's a gimmick. I am personally really impressed with it. I feel I get Wii like controlls with next gen graphics. I couldn't be happier.
The games right now...yeah it freakin' blows. Resistance is effing sick. But everything else is simply not worth my money. I'll sit tight and wait for the big gunz.
Thanks for you post RBH.

If Resistance wasn't 1st person only, I would have picked the game up.
I think Virtua Fighter 5 and/or MLB 07 will be my next purchases.
One thing I forgot when I mentioned the controller: Same old design as PS1 & 2 controller is very, very lame. Unimaginative, uninnovative, ungood, and any other word that I can throw "un" in front of to get my point across. If I had a choice, I would have wanted the batarang that they showed in E3 in '05 (or 06?). A new design on a controller really makes the system feel like something new.
Do you think the Sixaxis function in some upcoming games will be optional?

You have redeemed yourself RBH, I wasn't too sure before with that short ass post but now you are back in my good books. :p
Anyway, The I dunno, I'm an FPS whore. If done properly I just never tire of a good FPS game and Resistance is definetly one of them. It feels like a Half Life game to me with some Halo and COD thrown into the mix. I really like it.
The PS3 Controller? C'mon it's tEh pWnage. Far better then Xbux 340 contoller...pfft......who am I kidding. Yeah I must agree with you here. LAME, 3 genereations of the same design is just sleep inducing. Now if I could find a way to get my beloved 360 controller to somehow work on my PS3? I'd be a happy little kid...er....man.

I always felt that FPS should have a 3rd person option, like how the Hitman games are and even the last two Elderscroll games.

That's funny you mentioned that, I remember watching Disc 2 of my "Officail Xbox Compilation Vol. 1" CD. The boys at bungie were showing some early Halo Demonstrations to the crowd....it had that 3rd/1st person perspective option
I like this option in GRAW

It would be nice if Halo 3 would have that option....

Game impressions:
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - Overall, the game is decent. The combat is better than the Champs of Norrath games. You can't create a character, but at least you get to choose between 3. Customization of the character is almost an afterthought so far. I can put on/take off a helmet, but that's really the big difference early in the game. I believe the characters change armor after a while, though. The camera sucks. This is the first 3rd person game where the camera would get wonky in close quarters.
Tiger Woods 07 - I'll have to give a better impression later, though all Tiger Woods 07 titles should play the same. After the first round and 18 holes of a tournament, I ended up shooting 40 over. Yeah. Would you really like an impression after that round?

This year, unless MGS4 or DMC4 makes out, I probably wouldn't buy a lot of games. With 60 dollar price tags, I don't really expect to anyway. I plan to get VF5, Rainbow 6 and GRAW2 for sure.
I think first person and 3rd person both have their own pros and cons. I wouldn't necessarily pick one over the other. But, I sure am glad that they made the decision to make graw into 3rd person. I've been playing the PC version. It's not as much fun.

I won't be taking chances on PS3 games with the price, but as long as the ones I consider "keepers" come out, I'll probably pick them up. Unless they come out around the same time. :(
I can't see too many pluses in having a shooter in 1st person. I had a big ole example, but after re-reading it the whole thing felt jumbled.
Even though I didn't like GRAW overall, the first mission wasn't bad. The game felt better in 3rd person.

Well, the sixAxis does have a couple of other points. One, it does recharge to full capacity very quickly. and two, though it seems much like the old Dualshock, in fact the old L2 and R2 buttons are now triggers, with about a half inch or so of play.
