Go way back to 1999, the release of Kingpin: Life of Crime.
It was a big [sales] success in UK, fair in US.

Any news on Interplays intent to release sequel, or news/rumors in general about whats goin on w/this title?

You know, Kingpin was one of those games I always intended to play but never got around to it...I remember firing up the demo back in 99 and loving it, but after that I was never able to find it in the stores.

I haven't heard anything about a sequel, though. Usually sleeper hit games don't garner enough attention to warrent one, and if we haven't heard anything about it by now I doubt we'll ever see one.

I loved it, basic, dirty environment & NOT politically correct.
I recall a member on old board expressing his/her outrage over my loving it due to the game content [gang activity, violence].

The graphics were superb, wepons/blood spatter engaging & AI ususally on target. Simple puzzle solving, mostly FPS fun. A good[albiet simple] story line that left open the possibility of a sequel.

I am not positive but I think Xatrix is out of business now. I own Kingpin and enjoyed the demo but have yet to install it. It is on my waiting list though....

I've owned the game for ages, never completed as I lost interest halfway through, its got some classic fun moments and some extremely funny dialog, its out on budget and its worth a look!

After talking about it I fired Kingpin up and even after a few years it is still an ok fps game. If you find it..pick it up as it is worth it for the F@@@ing mood it puts you in...lol

The game is too funny @ times, great atmosphere of big inner city slums. [& you get to ride a Hog...]

I never played Kingpin just because I hate whole ghetto/gangsta/rap thing. It's just not my bag, and it's definitely not the atmosphere I'm looking for in a game.

I agree!! It has about as much appeal to me as a Backstreet Boys theme (hey, if they did a KISS shooter, Backstreet might be next).

I tend to have little interest in movies with that theme too. Shaft and Training Day are two that I haven't seen, and don't have too much desire to.

Well, you can catch the old (original and best) Shaft, as that one is from the early seventies, the era of funk and fros. Back in those days, the ghetto had style.

I played all the way through Kingpin. I'd definitely be interested in a Kingpin II. I thought the game was pretty fun, even if the gameplay wasn't the best ever. Towards the end it started to feel a tiny bit repetitive and then it seemed to end a little soon. But I did enjoy it a lot and don't feel like I wasted my time. I love the attitude and language, too.

For what it's worth, my favorite game ever was the original Redneck Rampage. That game ruled!

If you still haven't seen Training Day, I recommend you see it, it is not what you expect it to be (although it has this theme). The movie is really great and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. As for the game, I think it is a fine product. Kingpin 2 will be a good thing, just like all the sequels we want to see to our all-time game favourites. I myself, want to see Little Big Adventure 3, but for now only the script is written. *sigh* This game... LBA - it is unbelievable. I just can't find the words to describe it. Wait and hope for LBA3. :)
