Is this a magazine for shaving enthusiasts and straight-razor afficionados?

And how does this rate its own thread when even Game Informer (you know, a gaming magazine) doesn't get its own thread for its GOTY picks? Which, btw, was Zelda.

Someone please start a general purpose GOTY thread where all the various GOTY lists can be posted. Isn't that your job, Glock?

Does this magazine have a thing against NextGen or something?

Great image of TLW you painted there. However, no one needs to reach for Okami's sake, it reaches out all by itself and leaps out of the screen with twice the brilliance of any of the so-called "next-gen" games so far. Except for Twilight Princess, of course!

Well, it's not as if Sony is responsible for either Okami or FFXII, so I guess I don't get why our favorite Sony PR plant is even bothering to post this drivel.

True; Capcom is doing amazing work on 360, and Square-Enix is moving a lot of stuff on the DS.

Well I hope you enjoyed Okami. Because the company that made the game has recently folded.Sorry charlie. Plus if I want to see brilliance I'll look at Gears Of War.(The game thats sold 2 million copies) If I want to see brillance I'll look at the current Zelda on the Wii. How is that for an image.

Actually they are, indirectly. If you read the last interview with the guy who's head of Clover Studios he says that although he's sad that the studio's being closed down, Sony gave him total creative freedom - something that MS and Ninendo (to a lesser extent) wouldn't do. Due to the poularity of the PS brand, he appreciates that Sony can afford to let artists/developers do stuff like ICO, Colossus and Okami. ICO was a financial flop yet Sony let them try again with SOTC simply because they like to believe that good games, commercial or not, will find an audience. And SOTC did. While we might see something like Okami on a Nintendo machine, we'd never see anything like it on the 360.

As for Square, Sony owns 42% of the company. That's why you'll neve see a true Final Fantasy title on any other platform other than Playstation. Cube, Wii, DS, will get the spinoffs like Crystal Chronicles or remakes. The only reason MS got FF XI was because Sony thought they could some make money off of MS's online addicts.

Dead Rising is interesting and fun but I'd hardly call it amazing. It's just Dynasty Warriors with some GTA elements thrown in. C'mon, Gaddy, You know as well as I do that the 360 would never get anything like Okami. Capcom and the other 3rd parties know that games like Okami, Ico, Viewtiful Joe, Odama, Collosus, Rez, etc., would never sell to the guns, Mountain Dew, bouncing boobs crowd.

If that's the case, then why is Dragon Quest IX going to a Nintendo platform, huh? Dragon Quest is an even MORE important franchise in Japan, FYI. Hell, whenever it gets released it's practically a Japanese holiday. DQIX is a license to sell hardware for all intents and purposes, which BOTH the PS3 and PSP will need.

In fact, why is Square Enix heavily supporting the DS at all? You would think that if Sony had any authority at Squenix, they would dictate that the PSP got all the love.

I dunno. Okami bored me. It's not a character driven game, which always is a big minus for me. I will probably get back to it later but so far I'm having trouble getting into it when I have better things to play.

FF12 I have currently put on hold in favor of Valkyrie Profile 2, which in turn I put on hold in favor of Titan Quest. Man, what is wrong with me? I am shelving JRPGs in order to play Diablo Hackfests!

Why is it though that DQuest 9 is on the Wii? This is still confusing for me.

Yeah, that's a NO on you ever touching this game, and maybe even ever seeing it in action. Dead Rising is truly a next-gen game, with next-gen visuals(doesn't mean graphically), next-gen gameplay, solid story(IMO), and an all-around original game. GTA doesn't have traditional bosses. Plus, I used a gun probably three times in the whole game. Nothing like it on any other system.

There are 0 DW elements in this game. There isn't one weapon that can do more than a 3-hit combo, and most weapons are a single-swing/attack type of deal.

Here's a lit of weapons to show where the gameplay really stands. In the game, each item is used like it's supposed to be.Bowling balls bowl. Mowers mow. Shears chop things into bits. Everything can and will be thrown.
2'x 4", Acoustic Guitar, Baking Ingredients,Barbell,Baseball Bat,Bass Guitar,Battle Axe,Bench,Boomerang,Bowling Ball,Bucket,Cactus,Canned Food,Canned Sauce,Cardboard Box,Cash Register,CDs (30 count),Ceremonial Sword,Chainsaw,Chair,Chinese Cleaver,Cleaver,Cooking Oil,Condiment,Dishes (30 count),Drink Cans (12 count fridge pack),Dumbbell,Electric Guitar(strat, V, acoustic),Excavator,Fence,Fire Axe,Fire Extiguisher (100 % full),Frank West,Frying Pan,Garbage Can,Gems (10 count),Golf Club (and 30 balls),Gumball Machine,Hand Gun (30 bullet clip),Handbag,Hanger,HDTV,Heavy Machinegun (and a whopping 200 rounds),Hedge Trimmer,Hockey Stick (and 30 pucks),Hunk of Meat,Hunting Knife,Katana,King Salmon,Laser Sword,Lawn Mower,Lead Pipe,Lipstick Prop,Machete,Machinegun (with 150 bullets),Mailbox,Mailbox Post,Mannequin Female,Mannequin Male,Mannequin Limbs (arms and legs),Real Mega Buster,Mega Buster,Molotov Cocktail,Nailgun (and 60 nails),Nightstick,Novelty Masks (bear, horse, servbot, and imp),Oil Bucket,Parasol,Paint Can,Painting (5 flavors),Perfume Prop,Pet Food,Pickaxe,Plywood Panel,Potted Plant (6 flavors),Propane Tank (small),Propane Tank (large, w/ dolly),Push Broom,Push Broom Handle,Pylon,Queen,Rat Saucer,Rat Stick,Rock,Sausage Rack,Saw Blade,Shampoo,Shelf,Shopping Cart,Shotgun (with 20 round capacity),Shower Head,Shovel,Sickle,Sign,Skateboard,Skylight,Sledge hammer,Small Chainsaw,*Smokestack,Sniper Rifle (and 30 bullets),Soccer Ball,Spitfire,Steel Rack,Stepladder,Store Display,Stool,Stuffed Bear,Stungun (with 100% of charge),Submachine Gun (with a 150 round clip),Sword,Toolbox,Toy Cube,Toy Laser Sword,TV (non-HD),Vase,Vehicles,Water Gun (with 30 squirts),Wine Cask,Zombies

Plus don't forget that you can also play dress-up! If you're good enough, you can find all of the items(including weapon) to dress up as Megaman!
Servbot Mask,Grey Fedora,Black Dress Shoes,Grey Pants/White Shirt/Black Tie,Green Ratman Shirt w/ Denim Shorts,Teddy Bear Mask,White/Red Lowtops w/Socks,Silver Rimless Glasses,Silver Sunglasses,Red Armless Shades,Black/Orange Sunglasses,Grey Sunglasses,Red/Grey Ratman Shirt w/ Brown Shorts,Horse Mask(Back room),Black Shirt/Shorts w/ Picture + Pinstripes,Mega Man Helmet (Theater Gift Shop),White Skirt-Suit,Brown Camo Vest w/ Shorts,Grey Skirt-Suit,Red/Black running Shoes,White/Red Lowtops w/Socks,Orange Lowtops w/ White Pearl Anklet,Spandex Track Suit,Bare Feet,Red/Grey Ratman Shirt w/ Brown Shorts,Black Slacks/Shirt w/ Red Tie,Black Pants/White Shirt/Black Tie,Imp Mask,Pink/Black Dress,Brown Suede/Fur suit,White Teddy,Black Sports Outfit #34,Grey Pinstripes,USA Track Outfit,White Suit,Grey Hair Dye,Brown Hair Dye,Pink/Black Dress,Black Shirt/Shorts w/ Picture + Pinstripes,Light Brown Fedora,White/Blue Ball Cap,White Shoes, Black Shoes w/ Purple Socks,Blue/White Flowery Dress,Green Ratman Shirt w/ Denim Shorts,Pink Suit-Skirt,Silver Rimless Glasses,Grey Sunglasses,Silver Shades, Grey Rimless Sunglasses, Red Armless Shades,Pink/Black Striped Shirt w/ Pink Shorts,White/Blue Flowery Fress,Black Skirt-suit,Spandex Track Suit, Blue Shirt w/ White Stars and Red Shorts,Red Hair Dye,Black Hair Dye,Black Baseball Cap,Blue Vest w/ Tan Shorts,Yellow Suit,Black/Pink Dress,Ammo Belt,Arthur's Boxers,Cop Hat,SaintHockey Mask,Mall Employee Uniform,Mega Man Boots,Mega Man Torso,Prisoner Outfit,Wrestling Boots,Wrestling Shorts ,Special Forces Boots,Special Forces Uniform,White Hat, plus a bunch more, but I accidentally deleted it.

So to sum up, I still refer to this game as the Symphony of the Night with Zombies, in 3-D.

Comparisons to GTA are so played out these days.

I dunno. Okami bored me. It's not a character driven game, which always is a big minus for me. I will probably get back to it later but so far I'm having trouble getting into it when I have better things to play. I agree. Even when I try to get back into this game, I always just drift away out of non-amusement and play something else.

I'm going to be hater here. Okami to me looks ugly as hell. I hate that sketch work art style the games got going. I much prefer the animated style Smilebit used in Jet Grind/set Raido and what Level 5 did in Dark Cloud 2, but the best has got to ZOE 2. Okami personally looks terrible to me.

Edge is european magazine really good well written Barnes and Noble carries it or you subscribe it's future networks mag and most of them are decent imo.

That could change but sales of games like Viva Pinata don't help matters much. Still, I'm fine with the 360 never getting those types of games. It's not what I bought the platform for anyway.

Zilla, I am interested in hearing the answer to this one. I did not realize Sony owned 42% of Square. It's a really valid point Trebor makes: If Sony has any power in what Square does, why is most of Square's support going to the DS?

And on a sidenote, does it matter then? If DS is the money making platform and a company Sony almost half-owns puts out software on the DS, does that benefit Sony?

All game critics gave great reviews & high praises to Capcom's Dead Rising. Who still talks about Dynasty Warriors? Nobody. Name me another game thats just like it? Nothing. This game gives you so much variety of things to do its ridiculous. Like Dynasty Warriors combined with GTA? What you been smoking Zilla?

You're just salty because this game isnt on the PS3. But guys like you prefer Motorstorm? Driving in the desert with real looking Sand. Thats worth $60 bucks. Does anyone even talk about the game? I dont think so.

Compare that to being in a shopping mall with Zombies. And you have tons of weapons at your disposal to tear them a new one with. Hmm...which is worth buying? Hmm..DEAD RISING BY A LANDSLIDE!

Not to mention who cares if the 360 ever gets Okami? The company has folded. So why even continue to mention them? Yes that company did produce over the years some great games. No doubt about it. But their time has come and gone. Time to move on.

There are more 3rd parties supporting the 360 than there was with the original Xbox. Thats a harsh reality you along with the rest of the milk drinkers out there better take notice of.(MGS & DMC could be next)
