I just checked out Ebay for ****s and giggles and could not believe my eyes. The PS3 prices are way down...barely above retail in most of the cases that I saw. What the heck is going on this close to Xmas. Hell the Wii's are going for almost as much as the PS3's. I guess it just must have been the time of day that I was on:rolleyes:

The way things are looking TPod the Wii is going to sell over 1.2 million units by this years end. The PS3? Isnt going to make 900,000 by this years end. Numbers on Ebay is just a sample of things to come IMO.:p

Whoa...

If that's the case, then forget it JX; you might as well just keep it.

I have to laugh, I checked out a recent auction on a 20 giger. The guy thought he would get more money by crying how he waited in line 22 hours for a ps3. He got $525 for his ps3 on only 3 bids. How much did he make. Well, what's the sales tax in california? And don't forget ebay gets its cut. Sounds like he actually lost money on the transaction.

Another power seller gets $800 for his 60gig unit with 3 games and an extra controller, an extended 1 year warranty from GS and he springs for free shipping. Sounds like a buyer's market to me. If I was in the market for a ps3, hell, why not go ebay, save yourself some dough and you don't have to leave the house. For ps3s to be going this cheaply a week before xmas, that ain't boding too well for the future. If nobody wants the ps3 before xmas, they sure in hell aren't going to want it more after xmas.

The only thing that the sellers seem to have on their side is the old reserve. I am seeing alot of cases where the reserves are not being met.

I ran into a computer geek on the bus the other day, an old guy, who scored a Ps3 at the Sony store, which are getting shipments twice weekly (they are still selling out at this point but not that hard to get.

This guy was going to mod his Ps3 with a 100 gig hard drive and was interested in using Linux on it. I'm not sure why he was doing this, his english wasn't that great. I have no idea how this is relevant, I just thought it was interesting that the Ps3's aren't that hard to get, that the only game the guy said he was playing was Zelda on Wii, and it sounded like he was doing with his Ps3 what the gadget geeks are doing with PsP. . . other stuff besides buying game software.

LOL, very interesting, is the PS3 doomed to flop? I'm not particularly concerned as long as the games I want end up being on one platform that I can play sooner or later, but that is sad news indeed for the early rushers. Good news for everyone else. Except Sony.

It would be extremely funky to see the PS3 literally be turned into a PC like the geek is doing. Ken's plan to have the PS3 be seen as a PC backfires then.

That said I am not overly concerned. I think the PS3 still has life to it, but the reality is starting to take shape and it seems that Sony is now in its decline. But it's too early to ring the bell just yet.

The big danger is the ps3 will travel down the same multimedia dead end as the psp. I don't know why sony wants the ps3 to be a computer, its not like they make money from selling copies of linux. The ps3 as a cheap bluray player is not going to impress third party game developers. They want to see an install base of game players, not movie watchers or guys tinkering with linux and cruising the net.

Sony better wake up and in a hurry. Sony thinks they are the game business, that without them, the game business stops. It doesn't. Developers have numerous viable platforms for their efforts and each one is less expensive to develop on than the ps3. The 360, the wii, the ds, hell, even the venerable ps2 will get developers where they want to go without putting them at undue risk.

You can go from hero to zero in a hurry. I'm not saying that this is going to happen to the ps3, but, it could. Anybody saying, its not possible, doesn't know their videogame and business history. Happens all the time. I still remember ages ago, when I had a part time job on the weekends guarding an office building. Every office on all the floors was equipped with a copy of Lotus 1-2-3 and Wordperfect. The defacto business programs of their day. Dominated the industry. Today, kaput, gone, history. It can happen to the ps3 and it can happen to sony. Andy Grove of intel wrote a book about his life at intel, called "Only the paranoid survive." Sony is complacent and nowhere paranoid enough for their own good.
