GI GOTY 2006 = Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Wii version
"When the voting began for Game of the Year, the decision was unanimous. And when the voting for Greatest Game of All Time begins, don't be surprised if this game stands tall with the best in history."

That is not to say that every editor/reviewer for the mag had it in their top-spot tho'. In fact, out of the ten, only one had it #1. Six didn't even have it in their Top 10! Meanwhile, Oblivion (360 version) was listed #1 overall by three reviewers! So wtf?!

(FFXII was listed #1 twice; as was WOW. Okami got one's vote; same with Kingdom Hearts II.)

I haven't played the game, but I was disappointed to see them exclude Dastardos (from Viva Pinata) from their Top 10 Villains of '06. (Number one villain was Judge Magisters - from FFXII.)

Link was the number one Hero. But this list is... queer... sorry, there's really no other word to describe it. Included among their Top 10 Heroes of '06 are: The Doctor (from Brain age); Rocket (from Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime); and The King (from the Burger King games - Sneak King was specifically cited).

Hmmm... they didn't do a Top 10 for newbies this time.(?)

Other #1's from a few notable Top 10 categories:
- #1 among the Top 10 Disappointments = the PS3 launch
- Top 10 Publishers = #1 = Nintendo
- Top 10 Developers = #1 = Nintendo
- Top 10 Worst Games = #1 = Tao's Adventure: Curse of the Demon Seal (NDS)

Some Breakdowns:
12 of the 50 games were released in the month of November. January, June, and July each supplied only one.

19 PS2 games made the list. Followed by 16 Xbox 360 games(!)

And this is interesting... 6 PS3 games cracked the Top 50; versus only 3 Wii games.

No GameCube games made the list. But that has to be GI's fault for taking this list to print so early - the 'Cube version of Zelda:TP wasn't released yet. Still, they could have guessed that it would make it, couldn't they? Sheesh. (6 Xbox games were listed.)

Both. Gameinformer is a mag. They have a website here.

http://www.gameinformer.com/default.htm

Typical mag, crappy reviews, imo, but they do get some exclusive features.

Yes we know you hate it because GI gave the same score for Resistance and GoW. Give it a rest....

I have been reading GI and I think it's just as good as any other videogame news/reviews sources. There are things that you agree and disagree, just like in any other magazine...

I also feel that GI is just as good as any other videogame magazine out there. Plus if Resistance had the same review score as GOW its all good.GOW sold over 2 million copies worldwide and went platnum. Resistance isnt even close to those numbers. So with that I agree Folken folks should give that issue a rest shouldnt they? :D

Both the 360 and the PS3 both have shooters worthy of purchasing with GOW and with Resistance:FOM. But as of right now like it or not GOW is the top dog of the two. Why? Because 2 million people out there said so.:aureola:

You do realize that the Ps3 has been out for 4 weeks, right? And that there are only a few hundred thousand sold so far, right? So how can the relative number of software units sold say anything about the quality or "top doggedness" of the software itself?

No one can be that dumb. You're actually just intentionally acting like a dumbass because you know it annoys people, and you get a kick out of that. I really do hope thats it, because if it's not, then seriously, I'm openly in support of a mandatory selective sterilization program, starting with you.

Easy. A console is only as good as the games thats on it. So far what games thusfar for the PS3 is everybody talking about? My point here? Short & sweet. Hardware cant win the battle all by itself. Software has to sell as well as hardware does.

So far the PS3 is off to a verry slow start. And its becoming real obvious that Nintendo is winning the battle. Considering this is the first time that Nintendo has ever launched a console with Zelda definately helped them stay ahead at this point as well. Everything else you're saying is just plain loco homes. :p

Neo, just drop everything and answer me this one question. Don't change the subject, don't talk about surrounding issues, just answer me this one question. Can you do that? Can you answer a simple yes or no question? OK, let's go.

If EVERY SINGLE PlayStation 3 owner in the world right now (400,000 or so) were to buy Resistance, would they be able to reach 2 million copies sold?

Simple question, yes or no answer, that's all I want. Now...go!

I'm more interested in the percentage of copies GOW sold in relation to the total number of consoles out, and ditto resistance. I heard Resistance sold like 1 copy for every 3 PS3s out there. How about GOW? 2 million to like 6 million 360s?

Nope.Absolutely not. Simple answer.

But both games came out at the same time. And thus far Gears Of Wars has not only sold the most copies but its being talked about alot more than Resistance is right now.:aureola:

You're sitting there right now, aren't you, glazed eyes, a partially dried river of spittle on your chin, and playing with your own poop, making little doodles on your monitor with it.

Mochan, do the math. 2 million times 3 is 6 million, meaning that the ratio is 1 game per 3 360s. That can't be right, can it? If that's so, then GOW is doing better than what everyone is saying. XBOX Live rankings show just under 800,000 unique tags playing or have played on Live. I wonder how many PS3 owners are playing Resistance online?
