Has anyone had a chance to check out the newest OXM demo disc, with Magic the Gathering and Freedom Fighters. I could not stop playing MtG:BG. I would have never taken a second look at this game if I saw it in the store, but I can't wait to play the full version. As for Freedom Fighters, I was not impressed with this game. I thought the camera wasn't very good and aiming was tough while the camera kept jerking around, maybe I missed a lockon button? Either way, didnt care for it.

The biggest hit on the disc to me was the Full Spectrum Warrior videos. All I can say is WOW! Game looks like it has Winner written all over it. Very impressive demo video.

Other playable games on the disc were Tiger Woods 2k4(looked nice, played nice, I'm waitng for LINKS 2k4 with LIVE play, though), NCAA Football 2k4, NFL Fever 2k4, Prince of Persia(didnt like the camera), Confict Desert Storm 2(bad controls for me, needed to change configuration), and another I forget.

Lastly, the Grabbed by the Ghoulies video trailer looked interesting. I think the Xbox desperately needs some games like these, more kiddie if you will. May shape up to be a "sleeper" hit. I say sleeper even though it is by Rare and is being highly anticipated by some, because it seems to be already being dissed in other arenas because it is from Rare and because it comes across a bit more kiddie than what the Xbox has been putting out. Hope the Xbox audience embraces it, assuming it plays well.

Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty interested in Freedom Fighters, but not until it drops to $20 or below. Same with the Prince of Persia game. There's just too many other games that are more of a priority this Holiday season.

Freedom Fighters is awesome how about you go and rent the game its a lot different than the demo. The demo was too easy compared to the game. The game has very easy, easy, normal, and hard. Which I bought and love. You just got to get use to the controls like any other game.

Heres a quick look @ response Freedom Fighters has gotten on PC board:

I think it will be one of those underrated games; causing a rapid price drop [good for those who wait ;) ].

a price drop is definitely something I'm waiting for (especially for the 'Cube, price drops happens faster on that system). Since the devs who made Hitman 2 (IO Interactive) made this game, I have a feeling I will like it.

Oh yeah! I've checked it out!
And I had checked out your post here too a couple of days go, but haven't had the time to reply yet. I was damn glad to see it too - as I was thinking about posting one on this very same topic myself!

It's an incredible demo disk! I've said it before, and I'll say it again...
anybody who has an XBox owes to themselves to subscribe to this magazine! It's the smartest, and best, $30 you could ever spend on videogames. No lie.

That said, I personally did not care for Magic the Gathering. But I would have to agree with you on Prince of Persia - as I didn't like that one either, for much the same reason. Even though I would never buy the game for myself, I was glad to have tried Disneys Extreme Skate Adventure. It looks look a solid title for the youngens, to me. I haven't tried - or wasted my time, I prolly should say - with NCAA Football or Conflict Desert Storm yet though.

I have been unable to get the Freedom Fighters demo to play. :(

And I can't figure out the putting in Tiger Woods.
But eff TW and EA, anyway! I'm with you... Links is the one that I'm waiting for!

You are darn tootin' about Full Spectrum Warrior... "wow" is right!

GBTG looks fairly decent to me. I'm tossed up about getting it though. I haven't been burned on a game in long while, so I think I might actually feel okay about it if I took a chance with this game and it turned out bad. The thing that makes me really leary though, is that the pros are not saying much about the game - at all. I think that's a bad sign.

NFL Street looks stupid. So does Backyard Wrestling. But those are just my opinions.

Other noteworthy videos are for:
-Legacy of Kain: Defiance (looks okay - but not for me)
-XBox Music Mixer (not much of a video tho')
-SWAT: Global Strike Team ( ... )
-NASCAR Thunder 2004 ( ... )
-Whiplash (looks good actually... :) ... but also, unfortunately, developed to lowest common denominator (the PS2))

but most noteworthy...
-Mission Impossible: Operation Surma (looks... exactly... like... Splinter Cell !!!)

These demo disks have been getting better and better, I tell ya! And while the playable demos are the best part, the downloadable content ain't bad either! Not that I'm ever really ready to download the content, myself - I'd rather accomplish everything on my own - but the stuff is amazing. This month, the highlight is: access to all the levels in RTCW - along with the unlocking of the original game! (Last month was Panzer Dragoon Orta!)

I hope Legacy of Kain: Defiance turns out to be a good game. With all the delays, it has joined my "may get" list. I know one thing, after getting Blood Omen 2 on PS2 (and putting up with that bad framerate), I will definitely get this one on the 'Box if I get it.

I've played POP over and over again. This game is a must buy. From his agility to being able to do Matrix moves this game indeed may be the sleeper for action/adventure GOTY.I hope it makes it out before this year is over.

Tiger Woods 2004 was pretty cool to play too.The other stuff was real cool. The video of Legacy Of Kain:Defiance I watched 3 times already. The things that Kain was doing to folks was just nasty! But Raziel did get it a good impale on one of the guys towards the end.Grabbed by the Ghoulies actually looked like it may be pretty fun game to play.

And much kudos to the download content this time out.Hopefully next months demo will have Ninja Gaiden Playable.

Prince of Persia is a game that I'm still sleeping on. I haven't been fond of the series since I tried out the POP on Dreamcast....I didn't think it was any good. Hopefully the new one will make me think differently about the series.

Will Ninja Gaiden make it out before the end of 2003?
