My new systems are collecting dust....I Sh*T you not. But over the weekend I've had some time to screw around with the settings and memory systems of both the Wii and PS3. As well as a few other little details. (MP3, Video, CD ripping)

Wii: Ok Gadfly. I threw in a GC memstick into the Wii and attempted to copy save files over the internal memory but when I selected Copy and Move....I got a message saying there was no other memory card present. There was no option for me to transfer it to the flash-mem.

I checked the Save game Icons as-well. I can select Wii/GC memory from the lower bottom screen and go into the menu. Nothing Special here. They resemble GC saves.

The one thing I noticed about the Wii Menu is that every thing is set up like little TV screens (Game, Wii Pictures, Internet etc.) You use the pointer to navigate through everything. When selecting "Game" you see 2 discs (Wii and GC) if you have a Wii game then the Wii Disc will enter into a little black slot and vice versa.

PS3:
I grabbed my RCA Lyra (Containing) several tracks within and hooked it up to my PS3....and to my dismay...no tracks were apparent. So I grabbed some MP3s on the PS3 HD and copied them to the Lyra. I noticed that it created this new folder and then had the tracks within that folder. I think I need to transfer my existing MP3's on the lyra into that folder and then they will become visible.

I popped in a copied CD, Celldweller into my PS3 and ripped it onto the drive. Then I selected the tracks and put them onto my Lyra player. I like this idea too becuase now I can rip whatever I want from friends without booting up my PC. Then later if I want to burn the tracks....I just need to trasfer them either over the wireless lan or using the MP3 player as a storage medium.

Another thing I noticed is that the PS3 will attempt to find the track names and artist name via the web....similar to Real Player and Itunes.

When Playing Music. I can flip on a visual player that looks pretty trippy (Now where's my fat bag of...oh....found it)

I've tried Several DVD's and one Blue Ray movie So far and they look sick. DVD's are much like last gen games...they look good on standard TVs but hooked up to a hi-def they just look jaggy at times.

To Be perfectly honest. A DVD on a standard screen Seems to look just as clear as a Blue Ray running in 720p on my new TV. DVD's only show their faults when displayed on the big screens.

I'm still trying to figure out how to take jpegs and use them as a background....I hope they enable this feature soon with a firmware update.

I have a few days off work and some time to rent some more games.....I'll keep you posted on the details. I'll be happy to answer anymore questions.

Well, considering there aren't really too many games to play on those 2 systems, I'm not surprised they're gathering dust.

BTW any luck trying to get a mouse to work with that PS3? Can't you play Resistance with a Mouse?! That I want....

What I find cool is the PS3 looks like it can fully support pirating CDs. LOL. It also looks up CDDB on the net, well that should be expected.

Nothing they can't fix with one of their monthly mandatory firmware updates.

I know on the 360 if you rip a burned CD it wont look up the title and track names it only does that with Retail CD's How does that work on the PS3?

As much money that you have to spend in order to own a PS3 it should be able to play just about everything including pirated CD's:idea:

Playing a console game with a mouse? No thanks. Save that for PC gaming not console gaming. Plus does anybody know how many PS3's have been sold so far? I know that 600,000 Wii's has been sold already. Go Nintendo!!!

If either Xbox 360 or PS3 would let me play FPS with a mouse, I'd throw my PC away and buy one of them right now. Well maybe not throw my PC away but you get the idea.

Are you kidding? Between a choice of an FPS on a console or the exact same FPS on a PC (using mouse and 'board for both), I would prefer the PC version, even if it were graphically inferior due to an aged PC.

At that point it becomes bang for your buck. I'm certainly not replacing my PC, but then it would make a purchase of a next gen console more enticing as it will have more capacity to play a lot of games. It's great to know that I can use it to play the hottest FPS at good FPS, along with other stuff like DMC4 or MGS4 etc.

Try setting up a mouse and keyboard comfortably in front of a couch on a coffee table, and see how much mileage you get before your back and shoulder start to fall apart at the joints. Haha it would be extremely uncomfortable.

Incidentally, I *am* playing with my mouse and keyboard on top of a coffee table, leaning on a bean bag, it's actually quite nice.

I too would ditch the PC for gaming if consoles did the KB and mouse thing...hell, that's what I did with the Dreamcast. Console gaming has 1 thing on PC gaming and it is the most important thing...EVEN PLAYING FIELD. Sorry, but when your PC's gfx card is better than mine, your framerate is better and you have an advantage...everytime.

For me it really isn't a control thing, I just prefer gaming on a PC with its versatility than on a console (although I do love console gaming too). I see your point about the graphics thing, that would be the one thing that might convince me to give up PC gaming, but I've gotten used to playing PC games, even when the graphics are sub-par, and I just enjoy it way too much.
