I got a message from Sony UG touting the new features using connectivity between the two machines. For me, the biggest thing is the ability to buy PS1 titles online and, via USB hookup with the PS3, play them on the go on your PSP. This emulation capability will come with PSP system update 3.0. The prices for these titles are pretty nice, starting at less than $10. I do not know which titles will be available, but they will be stored on the Duo stick, giving hackers something new to strive for, of course.
Also, Sony is gearing up for a big online music and video store, again using the PS3/PSP connectivity. I know nothing about pricing on that, but it seems they are aiming right at Apple and Msoft. In terms of copyrights and exclusivity, Sony owns a LOT of material.
Of course, for all this to occur, you must be able to buy a PS3.
