Wii
As if PS3 wasn't enough to hold my interest 2 days later I cave in and buy a Wii. I really wanted to wait until Christmas to get this system but the Manager calls me up on Sunday morning and offers me his pre-order of the last Wii in stock. So I jump on it with a copy of my 2-year standing pre-oder of Zelda, recently changed over from Cube to Wii.
I just couldn't resist:cryin:
My Impressions
The System: Every one who played it Sunday night loved it. This is a great system. What it lacks in power it makes up for in pure fun offering a new gaming experience. The system itself is really small but comes loaded with compartments interfaces etc.
The Controller is Small, light and attaches to the nunchuck stick for action titles. 2 Batteries power it. You need to hook up a sensor bar for pointing only, everything else is internal, much like Sixaxis...but better.
Graphically, I don't notice anything different about Wii then I do on GC. In terms of Audio, it's Dolby Pro Logic 2...need I say more?
The Gui is very impressive and friendly to use for both kids and adults. You can you use your pointer much like a mouse to navigate around your screen. The GUI Screen is made up of little TV screens offering everything from Pictures to Internet etc.
I like how you can create your very own "Mii" as in you. You can create a little fella that looks just like you.... sort of.... trust me it's funny as hell. Your little "Mii's" can interact with each other and even online.
The System plays Game Cube discs as well, the funny thing is, and what interested me the most was..."Where do you insert the small discs???" The opening is DVD size but no matter where you place the GC disc.... the system will guide the little f**ker into place, it's so cool.
Games:
Wii Sports: What can I say, this system is going to own the sports game industry. This game doesn't even offer visuals that would impress the PS1 era. It's like they included test software and slapped a few textures onto it. Still a lot of fun to be had none the less.
Zelda TP: I had few friends coming over to see this game before I even opened it. But I denied any viewings of it until I could sink my teeth into it without spoiling the game. I'm anal that way but Zelda is my gem.
Anyway, I'm not too far into Zelda right now but I can tell you this. The game is a little awkward for the first little while but when you get used to it...watch out.
Combat is where this game truly shines. Sword swinging is almost too much fun. As is shooting your slingshot. You need to actually aim your Wiimote at the sensor bar to aim though. Fishing is a lot of fun as well. And I haven't even started into the actual adventure yet. I just know this game will be Epic. My PS3 just might have some dust to gather...MIGHT HAVE!
Overall I am very happy with my Wii purchase, this system delivers a new kind of fun that should not be overlooked by anyone.
