Anyone score a pre-order? I sure wasn't able to.
But there still should be a good chance to pick up a Wii day 1. Not sure what all stores are carrying the Wii that didn't take pre-orders, but Best Buy is one of them, and the staff seemed pretty confident that they had a LOT of them for Sunday morning. I refuse to camp out (there were actually people in tents in front of BB for the Ps3 launch) but hopefully showing up an hour early will be sufficient. I hope. I'm not much for waiting.
Already picked up the extra controller and a wireless router; was gonna get the SNES style controller for download games too, but decided that could wait as there are no VC games I want to download yet. The component cables were not on the shelf yet, but hopefully they will be soon. I will not play Twilight Princess until I can run it in 16x9 480p.
The controller seems really comfortable and most of the button placement makes sense, but won't really know for sure until I get the damned console. Torture! If I don't get one sunday, that controller is going to just sit there taunting me.

I just noticed that they finally put in a Wii board, Gadfly.
Here's all the "big" stores I can think of that should have a Wii w/o pre-orders on Sunday: Target, Circuit City, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, K-Mart (maybe), Blockbuster/Gamerush (maybe, depending if your local BB is reliable), Gamecrazy. If I was getting one, I would probably check out Target first, since they usually open earlier than BB.

thanks for the heads up. May have to try Target. I swung by Best Buy last night on the way home just out of curiosity, and there was a huge line of campers, tents, and people just sitting around playing DS. And a news crew. I didn't think the Nintendo fanatacism was going to be as bad as what we saw here for Ps3 (even the store in town that had 750 Ps3's, it was a hopelessly huge throng.)
It may not be so easy to score a Wii here day one because I live in the land of tech geeks. Google, EA, Sega, Silicon Valley. . . hell, I think IGN's offices are even here. It's insane.
I'm not stressing. I'm heading out now; if I don't score a system in a couple hours I'm giving up and just waiting until they are sitting on shelves.

Today I went to Target, we actually went to get some other non-gaming stuff. Oddly, my wife was interested in seeing a Wii. Well, they were sold out, but the demo unit was there. She is not a gamer, but when she saw the screen presentation of various ways the Wiimote is used, she was full of questions. And, both she and I were blown away by the size of the thing. It's a bit larger than an external back up HD for a PC. A very small footprint indeed. Overall volume is significantly less than a Gamecube.
Pretty cool.

Same here I just can't find a component cable to save my life though :( if you find one anywhere let me know. It doesn't look to promising though at least until after Dec.

Due to high demand, our initial allotment of the Wii Component Video Cables has been depleted. We expect to begin shipping again the week of November 28, 2006. The Wii Component Video Cable will also be available at select retail stores (Best Buy, GameStop, Circuit City) in early/mid December.

The Target where I bought mine sold out of it's 42 unit allotment in about half an hour. Well, I guess technically they sold out of their allotment before the store opened, since there were more people waiting in line then they had units available.

Don't forget to write a review for the WII. No one has done it yet.
