I have no high-speed for a few weeks. Long story, shortened, I've been paying twice what I should be for internet, and I barely found out, so now I'm in a dispute(Homer Simpson-style hostility-diddily) to get my net priced the way it should be. Could be just a few days, if I'm right about stuff, which I'm usually not, so it'll most likely be a month or so.
Just when the new update comes out for the 360, Saint's Row, and some crazy games coming out that I wanted to play on Live(GoW, MUA) and how will I live without Revenge? Grrr.
Wish me luck!!!
Note- I think I might use this Live downtime to record me speed-run for Stranger's Wrath. Yup, that's what I'll do. I might just put up my 360 just to not play it for sh!ts and giggles until I get my Live back up. But then again, those games do have single-player...
Grrr.

Sorry CK, that is a bummer. Can I ask how much you were paying and what you think is a rip off? What service do you use?
Good luck getting it all straightened out.

I was paying 100 bucks when I shoulda been paying 30. And I'm with Quest. It was a direct billing deal, so I never even looked to see how much would get taken out, but then a year later my girl was checking stuff and she caught it. D'OH! I'm a jackass.
I figure it'll be about 2 weeks before I'm back up. Not too bad. I can get back to some games that have been on the back-burner.

Are you also trying to get your money back from being overcharged? If anything, they'll probably put it as a credit towards your account.

I was just about to mention single-player. You'll live w/o LIVE for a bit. You had fun gaming before LIVE came around, didn't you?

Ahh, no wonder. $100 is pretty steep.
I have Roadrunner premium and pay $69 per month. This is also steep but I don't mind since I get more than my moneys worth out of it. It's a cable connection which I prefer over DSL.
Regular Roadrunner costs about $45 per month (both are high speed but premium is a bit faster).
I've seen some pretty cheap DSL deals advertised on TV lately so I suppose now is a good time to do some comparison shopping. In this neck of the woods, it's Roadrunner or bust from a cable high-speed standpoint (no competitors to choose from without going DSL or Dish). Kind of wish I had some other lower cost alternatives just to help keep Roadrunner more honest/competitive with their pricing.

$100?! Does that include cable-tv too? If not then, OUCH! Sucks that you're going to be Dead (get it... not Live) for a couple of weeks, but you gotta do what you gotta do. And that is definitely something that you gotta do. Yowza.

In my area, there's been a deal of Roadrunner for $29.99 for 6 months, and that's with no one-year agreement. I think the installation is free as well. I may have to try that out.

Well, it just got worse.:( I have my net back up, but my 360 just took a sh!t on me.:( I loaded up Far Cry, it said I had to update, so I did, and after about two minutes of playing, I got the red ring of doom.:( Now I have to wait until the 11th to get an exchange back home. I am so raged right now. :( I've read that some people were getting bricked systems because of the update, but I never would've thought that mine would've. Now I have no choice but to play crappy old Takedown if I want a Live fix. I haven't played Halo 2 in about a year.
Next, i'm gonna plug in my new 360 and my TV will explode.:(

O-M-G. That's terrible. I heard about that...
If that happened to me I would be so... effin... pissed... you have no idea. I feel bad for you. I even feel pissed off for you.
If you want to play some Halo 2, I'd be down. I've recently been thinking about doing that anyway.

That sucks. Does that mean your HDD is now useless? I hope it isn't, because of all the achievements you already have and all the saved games.
I'm cautious about any of the updates (even when they are on an OXM disc), but this one has me not wanting to try out LIVE now if I HAVE to update my 360 as soon as I log on.
