well, just one really. I saw it tonight. it was quite strange. there was a naked baby doll, and it's eyes began to do some weird stuff, like turn demonic looking and bleed and things. then the camera panned back, and the doll was in a near empty room, with just the doll and a PS3 suspended in the air. Just the tower, no monitor or controllers. no sound track, hardly, beyond some ambient electronica. It was kubrick-esque actually. it ended with a stylized text that said PS3 1117.

so begins the largest advertising push in sony history.

Yeah, they (Sony) know exactly how to market their machine. I've already seen some sick ads on Google Video (http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-8470424097385886315&q=PS3+Ad) and playb3yond.com (http://www.playb3yond.com/)

I think I just might add some fuel to the sys wars fire by posting these vids over there.....Xbots will dismiss it as rubbish but they are good none the less.

Enjoy:D

Good?! They're friggin' terrible! Especially that baby-doll commercial that Aylmer talked about; it was friggin' retarded! Their black-and-white billboards (or was that black-versus-white?) were better. Sony's marketing sucks.

Glocky here is what you call your basic American. Needs to be hit over the head with the info like MS's 'Jump In' commercials.

I bet he likes to skip rope too.

We are not worthy of the ps3. The monolith. We will be reduced to a infantile state and basically dribble all over ourselves. Wait a minute, that describes ps3 fans to a tee. Infantile, dribbling sony nutsack swingers worshipping at the altar of sony.

I'll take that as a compliment; thank you.

I haven't been all that that keen on the Xbox and 360 commercials either (or, the majority of them anyway). But at least with them I always knew what was being advertised. I forgot that I had also seen the (PS3) commercial with the kids on the roofs. Understandable that I'd forget: at no time during the commercial do they let on what it's about.

But just the fact they're even airing commercials is a fine indicator of how stupid Sony's marketing is. Why spend all that money advertising and creating excitement over a product that no one will even be able to buy?! What a waste!

Au contraire, mon ami. You don't get it, and neither do most sony fanbots or quite frankly, neither does MS or the media in general. There are no ps3s to sell, sony isn't launching with 400k in NA and that bad news will come home to roost in a couple of weeks.

This launch is a farce. Sony doesn't care about selling ps3s this holiday season, they care about MS NOT selling 360s. Tha'ts why they're going to promote the **** out of the ps3. No ps3s to sell? Who the fu#$ at sony cares. As long as that frustrated gamer doesn't buy a 360, that's all that matters. Sony will tell any and all lies, to get people to postpone and delay their purchases.

... what if you're the kind of sick mother f'r who thinks their life won't be complete without ownership of both a 360 and a PS3? Christ I'm pathetic. It's almost embarrassing.

I happened to like the PS3 commercial but then I also work in advertising and get a little kick out of stuff like this. Unfortunately I'm not working on the Sony account and will have to continue playing the Gamefly "Wii a day" giveaway to get my hands on one. Failing that I am thinking more and more that I'm going to have to break the bank once these little beauties hit the scene. Despite my advertising background I am still a complete sucker for good advertising. I thought that commercial was brilliant.

Wow! Nothing like traversing both worlds. Fortunately for me and my wallet my girlfriend is the PS3 enthusiast. I'll let her fork over the cash and stick with my 360.

Lucky bastard!

As far as the ads, I like that sort of thing, though I'm not sure what the point is. . . it's not like they persuade anyone to buy anything right? I think these ads just build buzz for existing videogame junkies.

I especially liked the exploding rubik's cube ad.

my wife is also in advertising, she got a big kick out of the PSP mailer game promo for Gangs of London, a very trick pull out deal. I got a Toys R Us flyer a couple of days ago touting the PS3, and it states that the 60 gig, but not the 20 gig, will have HDMI. In any event, I will wait till a must-have game surfaces. I know there can always be a first time, but in the history of gaming consoles, a true hit at launch is unheard of.
