Well even though Atari has announced a patch will be released for Temple of Elemental Evil, some fans couldn't wait. They created their own patch. You can get the list of fixes and download links here.
If anyone downloads and uses it, please let us know how it works!!
It should be noted that the official patch, due out later this month, will have lots of bug fixes and, according to Troika, "interface changes". Which will probably be a good thing.

Eh, I'll pass on this "patch". I saw this a day or two ago, and the changes aren't even things that I noticed right off the bat. Basically the changes are made using text files, the way that Space Empires IV is modded. There's no true hard-coded corrections such as "interface" tweaks, NPC AI corrections, item identification, or the monsters appearing "out-of-bounds".
A couple more weeks, and we should be seeing the official patch... I can't wait. I suppose though this C8 deserves some credit... It's good to know the game is backed by devoted members, it makes the game all that much better. Hopefully the first patch will be the last they'll need. I don't want them to come out with a pacth for something, while breaking something entirely different.

It does open up some of the deleted areas and changes a few dialogue paths, though...could be interesting to check out.
If I don't like it then it's easily uninstalled. You just click a 2nd executable that comes with it and it, no harm in trying it.

I'll try it once the main game is patched... there's no real point me investing time in the game, if the gameplay mechanics are gonna change with the inception of the next patch, and are broken without it. The game needs much more than just new dialogue and areas to explore... they need the engine fixed, with a HUGE overhaul of some of the item details and info.
