Any feedback/previews on improvements/enhancements?

How did the original finish [story]. Will MP2 pick up story where it left off?

Max loses everything he cared about, wife, child and goes to get even. Now I may be wrong but I think Max Payne 2- The rise and fall of Max Payne is a prequel.

Interesting, if so, kinda like a George Lucas Star Wars approach [Retro story line].

Max Payne2, Im bracing for all the activity thats likely to be buzz'n around soon. Im gonna hold off on initial pick up. Never did get drawn into original; the crazy "Dream Scene" , no like.

Actually, no, the game takes place an undisclosed number of years after the events in the first game. In the screenshots, Max is clearly older and looks burned out after all the years fighting crime. [SPOILER] The first one ended with Max indeed losing everything and being arrested, however not without bringing down a notorious drug empire. [END SPOILER]. While Remedy has not said much about MP2's storyline, we are told that Max returns to the NYPD scene and yet again gets entangled with another underground crime plot. This time it involves Max's assassin love interest, Mona.

It certainly looks interesting, and I for one am pretty excited about it since I loved the first one so much. It's a shame that the weaker (but in my opinion not at all bad) dream sequence in the first game stopped you, ET, from continuing. The game takes a lot of twists and turns after that with some great firefights and action scenes followed by more great action scenes all tied together by a great noir story. In my opinion, it is one of the most highly polished games to have come in recent years and I would highly recommed going back to it and giving it another shot.

Excellent summary of conclusion; interesting preview of what MAY be ahead for Max. Thanks! :)

Actually, to quote myself, "never did get drawn into original; the crazy Dream Scene, no like". I progressed further than this level, I just started losing interest @ this point

Here is where I stopped: a level that had me riding up an elevator to boss's office[?] near end of story. I recall as I passed various floor[s], I was being shot @ by guards??
Ring any bells? Feel free to disclose my "6" & anything considered spoilers.
Thanks again.

Oh! Well then, please excuse me for making uncalled for assumptions. :) So in that case, you really did reach the end. There were just a couple of more floors up that you had to go through and then a satisfying enough end sequence. If I may say so, that's a pretty odd place to start losing interest. What was it about the game that didn't quite get your fancy?

Hmm..so I was near the end. Its been too long for me to recall details on what it was that made me loose interest.

You know, it could be [& Im guessing] that I sensed the ending, & like many other games, called it "good".
Bet that sounds crazy. Or as you say "odd place to loose interest".
I agree with you ;)

What not finishing the game does do is bring to mind a recent thread on old board "Do you finish all your games?".
Amazed I was to discover I wasnt alone in not finishing some games. Many replies indicated games often go unfinished.

Back to MP2; I'll buy it, ofcourse! I buy most popular games.
It just wont have the "must have" priority of [for example] Deus Ex2,
Thief3, HL2. The priority of "must have" upon release.

Again, thank you for info on MP2 story! :)

What probably put you off was the fact that the endgame plays out as a pretty tedious trail and error quickload-fest.

Ya know, could be. I think I was in a gaming slump; spolied by earlier great games releases, expecting more from MP [slo-mo was cool-for a awhile].
