I could not handle middling power any longer. At Newegg.com I just got a Crossfire edition of an x1900 for just $350 and a rather awesome "slave" card for $410. I did not stop there. I bought a snazzy 700 watt power supply with 4 12 volt rails for $155 and the single fastest single core processor in the world, the Athlon FX 57 for $299. (2.8ghz yahoo!!!)

My setup was:

Athlon 64 3200 Venice Core
3 gigs of PC 3200 RAM
ASUS A8RMVP motherboard
2 ATI Radeon 1600XTs in Crossfire
Soundblaster XFi Extreme Music
250 gig hard drive

My rig will be:

Athlon 64 FX 57
3 Gigs of RAM
ASUS A8RMVP
Asus EAX 1900 Crossfire and HIS x1950XTX
Soundblaster XFi Extreme Music
250 gig hard drive

You may have noticed that my slave card is more powerful than my master card. My theory is that will yield closer to true double performance, With my paired 1600XTs due to not having 100% efficiency in the communication process you never got double the performance. Perhaps a more powerful slave card can overcome some if not all of the problems of pairing identical cards and doubling performance.

Anyhow, am I ready for Neverwinter Nights 2? You bet your rear I'm ready!!!!!

I should have the parts by Friday. Any thoughts?

I was in a car wreck that wasn't my fault so without the expense of my 2003 Bonneville I can have a top of the line rig while driving my much cheaper 1994 and 1996 Bonnevilles.

What's keeping me from spending big right now is the expense of my car payments. Man I wish these payments would end!

I don't recommend getting in a car crash. That is not cool at all.

But oddly enough I seemed to have found a way to jam my Athlon 64 3200 in the socket so I ordered a Radeon Xpress 3200 motherboard. Total tally approaching $1500 so far.
