To me it doesn't, though I've only played two games. I really wanted March Madness 07, but I don't think it comes out until Feb.
What other choice is there for basketball right now? NBA 2k7? No, thanks. It's probably a port of the current-gen game just like 2K6 was, and I didn't care for that one.

I don't know what live 07 is, but it isn't basketball. Don't want to listen to me, fine, check out the reviews. Also, enough with the port nonsense. Live is not built from the gound up for the 360. That's marketing horsesh#$ for the sheep to latch on to. NBA live is still the same shot blockathon cheezy ass fast break dunkfest its always been. It just has a new coat of paint.
Sorry, but its just like with madden on the 360. They rework the graphics and the animation, but underneath, pure madden with all its irritating faults intact from current gen. At least madden still kinda works, Live 07 is a broken mess of a game.

Show me where NBA 2k series has been rebuilt from the ground up for next gen, and then I won't consider it a port of the PS2/Xbox versions. As far as I'm concerned, VC has been modifying the same NBA 2k game engine from Dreamcast. There's only so much a dev can do with the same engine before it starts feeling old to me.

2k7 is ten times better than 2k6 in my opinion but most reviews I've read state that it's pretty much the same game. Gameplay is the best it's ever been while graphics have been majorly upgraded. Each player has their own shot style represented, the courts look great especially with the lighting, fans look realistic, etc...
It's at least worth a rent if you like basketball games. Live 06 sucked hard and I've heard that 07 is more of the same although I haven't tried it (still bitter over 06).

One thing that I think is missing with Live 07 are the various slider settings. They may be in the settings before you load a franchise, but in game, I couldn't find them. That's one way I was able to make Live 06 a playable game. I can play 07 w/o the sliders, but I really do suck at running plays, which could be the key to me having major success.

Same here, I'm also not the best at running basketball plays. To be honest, I don't know a lot about the X's and O's of hoops which doesn't help me in this regard.
With NBA2k7 knowing plays is also important. It's hard to even get open without some play or ball movement which is more realistic than the other way around.
It's refreshing to hear that Live fixed that aspect of gameplay. Last I played Live, prior to 06's farce, it was too easy to create shot opportunities and the game seemed like more arcade than sim as a result.

What, the nba live engine is new?! If anything the game has seriously gone down the toilet. I actually owned NBA Live 05 for the ps2. Arcadey as hell, but still fun.
Tons of cheap blocks in the game, just like the current version on the 360. They try to compensate by having players shoot with these ridiculously high arcs to their shots, which look absolutely ridiculous when a player is taking a shot two feet from the bucket and the ball sails 10 feet above the basket before going in.
There's no post game. I couldn't figure out why. As soon as I pass into the post, I attract an immediate double team. Then I realized why they were doing this. All I had to do was hit the x button and my guy would put on his rocket boots and fly to the rim for a slam dunk. So,they stick in the double team to prevent tons of cheap buckets.
So much of what goes on in the game is there to hide fundamental gameplay and design decision flaws. The game has two modes of play, fast break mode, and bring up the ball real effin slow, hold on to the ball, doing virtually nothing, wait for the clock to get down to five seconds and then put up a shot. That's not basketball.

The only thing I ran in the last-gen Lives as far as plays and stuff was something called a sideline triangle. It put my big men near the goal, and if they aren't double-teamed, they will try and score. If they are double teamed, I would kick it out to an open guy near the 3-point line. In Live 07, they haven't been leaving a good shooter of mine open on the outside. I'm not sure if that's the AI or just luck on their part.
Overall, I think the best last-gen Live I enjoyed was '03 or 04, whichever had Vince Carter on the cover.
