I'm new this forum and I've posted twice only to check back to see if there are any responses and every time I do my post is gone and there's a little message saying "our records show you've never posted to our site before... why not get started... blah blah blah. It's really getting annoying. I'm giving it one last shot before I give up on this board altogether.
So one more time... I have a question about Gamefly. I'm just looking for feedback from people who use them. They have a promo going on right now where I can get on for $10 for the first month and $15/mo there after. I'm close to going for it. From all I've read and seen they sound like they're the #1 service. Just looking for thoughts from the community. Hope I actually get some.
Thanks

Na..I just buy what I want and sell what I dislike on ebay. Easier than GAMEFLY as it is all up to me no monthly fee.
Peddle it somewhere else..

What a community. Really, you people are swell. I suppose I shouldn't expect so much from people who obviously are move involved in conducting psuedo lives in binary code than actually interacting with human beings. Hard as it may be to fathom, just because my name doesn't have 5000 posts sitting next to it doesn't make me a peddler. What's more, my question was/is legit. I figured a "community" of gamers would be able to provide informed feedback on a service dedicated to gaming. Imagine that?
Sorry to intrude on your "friendly" space.
That said, if anyone with a modicum of intelligence can provide some insight on my original question I'd love to hear it (Gamefly? Worth signing up for? What's your experience? etc...)
I must be a glutton for punishment...:mad2:
Apologies then storminormin, what do you say to starting over?
[VGR has been flooded lately with one-time-posters who post a link to go off site & never return again:mad:].
Welcome to VGR:) Most of the core users on this PC board have been here for 5 years or more & various strategy games. Myself , I'm a TBS gamer [not many of those made any more:(] currently making another journey through Gothic 2 enhanced with expansion Night of the Raven.
Regarding your specific question about Gamefly, user DBS did respond [post #4] with his opinion. One downside to Gamefly based on a family members use is that Gamefly ships only form west coast L.A. & makes for delayed shipments/late fee headaches. Also a quick GOOGLE of topic would net much info [I'm sure you've done that by now]. Got other gaming questions/comments [I]beyond Gamefly?
[1] What systems do you game on?
[2] What games are you currently running?
[3] Likes/dislikes of genres?
Again storminormin, welcome & feel free to post/engage with the community here frequently.
E.T.

Okay then, looks like we've all been given a second chance here. Truce.
To answer your questions... I'm on a Xbox. Just broke the bank and laid out the $ for the 360, hence my interest in a decent game rental service as forking over $50/$60 for new games isn't in the budget, particularly if I don't end up liking them and trying to rent from the local Blockbuster is a joke. They never have what I want and when they do they're in crappy condition. The reselling on eBay route is more trouble than I'm willing to invest. I'm a man of convenience.
I've never been big on RPGs - "Hi, what did you do today? Oh well, I bought a unicorn and sold a troll how bout you?" Not my bag. I'd dig TBS games if I had the time and patience. I dabbled briefly in the old X-Com stuff for a while back in the day.
Currently I'm playing Dead Rising (which I am loving - so much in one game) courtesy of my friend's Gamefly account. He raves about them but then he raves about a lot of things which is why I figured I'd seek out the opinions of strangers before I signed on. I've googled them as you've mentioned and have found mainly positive reviews. I have read about the shipping issues as well as some recent stuff about their having some new expedited service arrangement which is also what my friend claims. For whatever it's worth, we're both on the east coast and he gets his games in 2/3 days. Maybe that's too long for some though it seems reasonable enough to me. I'm thinking maybe instead of signing on with a unique account of my own I'd pool my resources with him and just have him upgrade his account since he ends up loaning me his games anyway.
Speaking of... played a bit of Just Cause recently (also courtesy of friend). Insofar as FPS games go (though this is much more than that) it's pretty liberal. You pretty much just aim in the general direction of your target and get a hit. It's amusing really. Visually, the game pretty awesome though there's lots of motion blur. It's fun, more amusing than anything else really. One good day of play and you can pretty much figure out the main mission.
That's it for me currently.
