Finally got my PC connected to my Xbox. I had a few issues getting the downloaded software to run on my PC, but once I got that cleared up everything ran smoothly.

For a while.

It's really cool to have your pictures, videos, and music that you have on your PC accessible thru your Xbox. Especially the music.

Which is why I undertook this project. I recently bought a 2GB flashdrive for my 360 custom soundtracks - but when I made that purchase I was only thinking that I'd want to listen to certain types of songs for certain types of games. Thus I thought it would be adequate. To make a long story short, it would turn out that I would want more music, as well more types of music - for different types of games - so it was nowhere near big enough.

Enter my PC.

And a huge undertaking of ripping all of my CD's. That is still ongoing...

I have been having some problems recently tho':

- Occasionally the music will pause for a second. Like a car cd player does when you hit a bump in the road - only without the bump. And it does so with varying frequency. Once every three to four songs is annoying, but livable - three to four times per song however...

- I started a Playlist - which is a work in progress - but my 360 still only shows what the intitial track count was, never the updated count. It does seem to play all of the newly added tracks tho'.

- Last nite, all of a sudden, my 360 wouldn't recognize my PC at all. I re-booted both my PC and my 360 too. Wtf? :(

Anybody else encounter problems like these? (Or others?)

I've had no problems with the media center functionality. Sure makes adding your tunes to games much, much better when you can access your existing PC music library.

Yeah, it's great - when it works.

This is two days in a row now where my 360 wouldn't recognize it. W-T-F?! I'm fracking pissed - because I've been spending a lot of time ripping cd's just for this purpose. Aaaaargh!

How does it work? Via WiFi, LAN, or what?

Both. I think.

My laptop has a wireless card (obviously), and have a wireless router (obviously), which my 360 is connected to (obviously). It was originally connected via the "official wireless internet doohickey", but because I was having troubles with connections I decided to unhook that and "plug it in" instead. (Using the ethernet cord that was plugged in to my original Xbox.)

It should be noted (maybe, probably?) that my game room is downstairs while the router is upstairs, and that they are at opposite ends of the house.

The ethernet cord is a 100-foot-er. But I never had a problem with my Xbox connections - and don't have any with my 360 either - my Live connections are a lot more solid now that it's corded. (But - and this might be a little off the subject, but... - I could never get my PS2 to work online... a Sony tech guy said the cord was 'too long'.)

Don't know if any of that answers your question.(?)

What's weird (or maybe it's not) is that those pauses/interruptions occured in greater frequency when my laptop was setup and running downstairs in the same room as the 360 (where it is right now, actually) than when it was upstairs.

...Near the router. ??? Hmmm...

Yep, (apparently) that was it.

(I don't understand why tho'. I get the 'net just fine when I bring my laptop downstairs.)

Now if I could just figure out why the Random playback feature works only some of the time...
