It's sounding like this game is coming to the 360 afterall, Hunter.
GameInformer was talking about the game in their LOOSE TALK (Hot Gaming Gossip) section this month and said that although the game was shown at E3 for the PS3 only, a 360 version is all but assured. They also said that while the game was, and still is, without an official publisher, LucasArts will most likely be behind this one as well.
That's great news all around. And a big relief.
The first Mercenaries was a big success - with critics, gamers, and retailers - how could LucasArts (or anybody for that matter) pass on a Mercs 2?!
The other thing that was bugging me was the idea that the game might be a PS3 only game. The game was a lot more popular on the Xbox than it was the PS2, so how was that fair, you know?! Yes, technically more copies of the PS2 version were sold than the Xbox version, but considering that there are about 40 million more PS2's out there than Xboxes (just counting NA), the fact that the Xbox version trailed by only a couple hundred thousand copies is fracking remarkable.(!)
Wtf numbers do these game makers look at at anyway? Ubisoft is pissing me off the same way. (As with Mercs...) The ratio of sales were way higher for the Xbox version of their games than they were for the other two consoles! But Ubisoft still doesn't have a single exclusive announced for the 360. That's gratitide for ya. :mad: (FarCry doesn't count - 1) because it was a remake of the Xbox game - that was released just 6 months prior!, and 2) because they also released another FarCry game on the Xbox on the same day as the 360 version (that's 3 FarCry games in 6 months) - that was a remake (of sorts) of the 360 remake!)
Anywho, back to Mercenaries/Mercenaries 2...
I'll be right behind you in line, Hunter, to pick up Mercs 2 when it comes out. I finally got around to playing Mercenaries this past week... and I can see how it got your 2005 GOTY vote! I was renting it. Had to return it today. :( Will be buying my own copy within the week.
Omg, would this game be great on the 360... what with the Achievements and everything... it would be so perfect...!
As you can see in my sig, I've also been playing Strangers Wrath... it's going to be a close a contest between the two for my Retro GOTY award...
