Okay guys, I did something I know is wrong. I bought the Dungeon Lord's Collector's Edition.

The game is supposed to be completely finished and up to par now. The thing is, they aren't making the latest updates available as downloads for people that bought the original broken release a year ago. That's about the sleaziest thing I've heard a game company do.

Thats one of the reasons why there are many pirates out there. The game companys screw over the customers, so the pirates screw them over..

Usually I would argue with you about that. How you are using that as an excuse to defend piracy. Usually I would, but in this case...

I think releasing a functioning verson of a troubled game as a 'new' edition without supporting the original purchasers is about the sleaziest thing I've seen in PC gaming. If it was any other game I wouldn't have bought in, but I've always wanted to try Dungeon Lords. It sounded so promising. Luckily, I never bought the original because I heard about the boatload of problems (one reason you should NEVER buy ANY game on the day of release), so at least I don't feel so ripped off.

I wonder who's fault it is: Dreamcatcher or Hueristic Park? Do you think D.W. Bradley will be able to recover from the fiasco that Dungeon Lords has become?

From what I've heard though, DL is still the same game essentially as the original. My counter to your arguement that you should never buy a game on the day of release? Well, I beta tested Guild Wars, and liked the game; I bought the retail version, and enjoyed it about up to the point (a month later) where they nerfed the resource collecting to build better armour. This to me equates to buying Half-Life 2, and then after about a month after release, releasing a patch that turns all the Combine into tutu-wearing poofter clowns. I didn't buy the game for what it was to become, I bought it for what it was.

So, HP made a better game, and fixed their product, but who's to pay for that? Us? Why? I agree, it's sleezy at it's best. There's no way that we should have to re-purchase the product in any way, shape, or form. However, that's what they want us to do. I won't. Besides, I feel you probably still aren't satisfied with the "finished" product. From what I hear, it's still the same piece of garbage that it was when it was released. How can I tell? Because Dreamcathers' forums are down... they seem to like to do that when they think they're pulling a fast one on us...

Wasn't Dreamcatcher infamous for screwing customers over with their publishing habits? I sort of recall there were lots of complaints regarding Painkiller.

Ya i bought painkiller gold edition and it never came with a friggen cd code.Funny thing is i emaled there customer service and over a year later they never replied back.Well in anycase i download a crack cd key just to play sp the key would not work with multiplayer however.Alot of other people had the same problem as me a new game and knowway to play it and none have gotten responses.so that pretty much ends me ever buying any game with the dreamcatcher nametag on it.to bad to because Painkiller probably still is my fav straight fps shooter of all time.

Steve, I think that's a bad example there. So I buy Guild Wars on the day of release, enjoy it and then they screw it up. What way have I gained by buying it on the day of release? Besides, it's an MMORPG, so it's not like I could just choose to not install that patch.

I guess this is moving away from Dungeon Lords, but your example still proves my point: Don't buy a PC game on the day of release...

Yeah, it's sort of ass backwards from what you're relating to; however, it's still a shady business practise any which way you slice it. That was simply my point.

So, you never said if the CE is completed or not. Is it?

But the main question, are we making the same mistake? I'm already to pre-order Dark Messiah and the other games i'm interested in....

Well, the thing is, I played the demo of DL, but there was only the outdoors and a dungeon to explore... however, I didn't base the game upon that entirely... If I saw what the interiors of buildings and the cities looked like, I wouldn't have bothered. I based that purchasing decision squarely upon the legacy that Bradley has created and his past games. I won't be making that mistake again.

As far as Dark Messiah? Man, the demo is more polished than the whole game of DL; I'm certain that there won't be many disappointments with that.

Anybody else getting Dark Messiah? We should set up some multiplayer stuff when its released since i'm very interested to see how the MP will handle.

I doubt it will meet your standards FB. From what I have been reading there's alot of peeps with reservations about the MP aspect of that game. Personally? I don't care. The SP should be enough to whet my whistle.

DM looks promising and I will probably pick that baby up as I enjoyed Blade of Darkness and I feel this is a newer more polished version of that.

As for Dungeon Lords..tried the demo and based on that pile of crap wrote the game off forever. It was pathetic, boring and missing key parts even for a demo.

Dreamcatcher is a budget- push all **** company but it has a few gems. VERY FEW
