I pre-ordered a bunch of fall crap today, and Loco Roco was one of them. Just an FYI, if you pre-order at Gamestop, they're giving a way demos of the game. I haven't played it yet, but may post impressions later.

The free demo has only one stage. . . seems like someone mentioned awhile back that this demo was available for download, so maybe everyone who's interested has tried it.

Anyway, I'd only seen pics and read a bit about the hands on. . . but damn, after playing this, just from the one stage I'm feeling like this is one of the better handheld titles of the year. Certainly it's finally something on the PsP that stands up to many of this year's DS titles in terms of style, originality/innovation and fun. The music and sound effects are infectious.

It reminds me a bit of Kirby's Canvas Curse mixed with a little Katamari Damacy. The play mechanic is simply tilting the stage left and right with the shoulder buttons, rolling through it, and occasionally hitting the R+L at the sametime to bounce the stage and get your ball to bounce/hop. You can also split your ball with a lighting strike into a bunch of little balls, and then regroup them again. Finally also a PsP game that doesn't leave you with aching thumbs.

Simple, but seriously hard. The demo is only one stage, but my first time through I managed to collect only six of the 20 pieces of fruit hidden on the stage (the fruit makes your ball grow larger.) What makes this game so aweseom to me is that, like Kirby's Canvas Curse, this takes an old classic form (2-d side scroller) and finds a way to make it a completely new kind of hand-eye coordination challenge.

I cannot wait for this whole game. In the meantime, I'm going to keep playing the one stage to see if I can get all twenty pieces of fruit.

I want to try out this game. I need to hear this music and sound effects before I open my wallet up.

But I could never get the effin download to work! It's on my computer, unzipped, and in the "GAME" folder, but my PSP doesn't see it. Aaaargh! Guess I gotta my hands on a UMD somehow. But... I shouldn't have to do that.

It's just a five dollar pre-order to get the demo disk. If you don't like it, you can always switch that five dollars to another game.

This game is cutesy in almost a pikmin way. . .like when you strike your ball with lightening and it turns into a bunch of little balls, they have this high pitched cutsey voice and say sh!t like "children of the light." It's actually kinda freaky in its own way. I know sometimes style really puts you off a game, and I just don't know if you would like this one. I think you will though. It is just so damned fun to play. I'm up to a thirteen mini-ball big ball (from finding thirteen pieces of fruit.) I've been searching for all the hidden areas, and the hidden-area and hard to reach places aspect of the level-design seems nearly mario-quality brilliant to me.

Please tell me they're not singing in English in the western version. I dunno if they're singing in Japanese or what in the version I played, but the (to my ear at least) nonsense-worded lyrics added to the appeal of the game.

Go here and watch "Bits-o-blobs fun" (http://media.psp.ign.com/media/772/772060/vids_1.html) If they don't sound like that in the American demo, It'll be a huge letdown.

Oh, and you not only have to find all 20 pieces of fruit, but the 3 little black cactus guys hiding around the stage as well.

I got all three little black cactus guys and all 20 pieces of fruit on the demo stage finally, and all but ten of the 650 little purple things. I'm hooked.

Oh yeah, Renz, never fear. . .they're singing in gibberish, not English. As far as the gibberish they spout during the game, I don't understand any of it, except that one thing that sounded to me like "we're the children of the light" but that might have just been an acid flash back.

I watched all of those videos... LOL; cute... and I think that the game does look quite fun... but I have to say that the sounds are pushing it. It's nothing that really gets my dander up, but at the same time it's not something that I find to be very pleasurable.

Luckily(?) the PSP's speakers suck, so I doubt that I'll really be able to hear much of it - unless I go temporarily insane and plug in my headphones, of course.

But that's not the only obstacle(s) Loco Roco faces. If the release dates I've seen hold up then there will also be time and money issues to overcome: Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins is supposed to release on the same day - as is Test Drive Unlimited for the 360, and Okami, and Yakuza for the PS2. (Plus there's Bomberman Act Zero and Pro Stroke Golf the week before, and NHL 07 and Lego Star Wars II the week after.)

Oh hell...GnG and Loco Roco on the same day? My PSP might explode from all the use it's about to get.

This has been the best year for games I've seen in quite awhile. For the last couple of years I could count the games I was really looking forward to on one hand, But now, counting those two, the tons of DS titles that are coming out over the next few months, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, the Wii...man, there are slews of stuff I'm wanting to get.

I'm gonna have to start donating plasma.

Gad, I was able to find all but 15 of the purple fruits...and I have a good idea of where they're at. If the whole game is as good as the demo stage, I'll be trying to find every little secret in every stage for months on end.

Alright, forget what I said: Loco Roco is intolerable afterall.

I just got back from the vg store, where, while I was looking around, minding my own business, I heard the most annoying sounds. And at first I couldn't figure out what they were or were they were coming from: I saw the PS2 display, I saw the 360 display... it wasn't them. Then, I saw the PSP behind the counter and realized that the sounds were coming from it. Then I realized what game it was...

It's official: the game is #@$&ing annoying.

I didn't really expect you to like it anyway. :P

Oh well, to each his own.

You think YOU have it bad, try being a DS fanatic as well. Not only do I HAVE to pick up Okami for Ps2 and Loco Roco for PsP, I've got Star Fox, Harvest Moon, and Mario 3 on 3 basketball, Konductra, and Contact within the next 3 weeks. I'd have Ultimate G nG on there, but I'm concerned the game might be too hard. Looking forward to hearing your guys experience with it.

The fourth quarter is even worse as far as must-play stuff on a number of systems. For PsP the ones I'm looking forward to are Every Extend Extra and Lumines II.

I'm not too surprised the style and sound of Loco Roco put you off. . .oh well, it sounds like you already have enough on your plate too. . .the way things are lately its always nice to have a reason to cut something from the acquisition list!

I read in the new EGM that G&G got bad scores(I think it was two 5s and a 7) Those guys are pvssies, though. *****ing about how unfair it is. It's G&G, losers!
