What have you guys heard about the new nokia n-gage being released on oct. 7th in the us? They're offering $100 in rebates if you preorder before then, but what are you guys hearing about the gaming console it has? It looks like it could be awesome, but has anyone heard anything good or bad about it or played any games on it? Thanks!

I'm intrigued by it, I'll admit. And it does look likes it's getting a lot of real games.
But there's no way I'm going to get one this year.
I might have thought about it earlier... though I know those thoughts were only playing in line with being "the first guy on my block"... but it's just not feasible - $100 rebate, or no.
One thing that I'm really leary of... is the durability of the thing.
I mean, look at the action buttons. They're supposed to double as data entry keys?!? I don't know, but if the gaming's supposed to be as real and as serious as they intend and want us to believe, then I see these buttons falling off after about three months use! I just do not see this thing standing up...

If Nokia were smart they would make sure that one could go to any Sprint/ Verizon/ AT&T service provider and buy an N-gage, just like any other cell phone. They can sell it to 2 completely different markets. I know tons of kids who wouldn't spend $20 on a GBA, but would spend $300 on a cool cell phone. Also cell phone service providers would offer discounts on the N-Gage as they do with every other cell phone. From what I've seen it looks and feels cool.
Off topic:
EGM gave it an awful review, and went as far as to say that it can't compete with the Sony hand held. Now if I'm not mistaken Sony hasn't even shown a proto-type, yet EGM already wants to hold it in high esteem. EGM is so biased to Sony it is sick. I will never buy another EGM again.

Game Informer trashed on the N-Gage also, and that's considering that they almost never give anything such terrible reviews. It's highest scoring game was Puyo Puyo with 7.75, with 4 games (out of 8) that scored at or below 5.

I don't doubt that the N-Gage sucks. I hate buying EGM and only buy it at the airport due to a lack of other options. Everytime I read it I see a bias toward Sony products or games.
