As the release of the highly anticipated fighting game Soul Calibur II draws near, our friends at Namco Hometek have come clean with some bonus materials meant specifically for PlayStation 2 owners. And we're not just talking about the inclusion of Heihachi either. We're talking about an all-new demo disc included with the initial packaging.

"Soul Calibur II is at the top of many PlayStation 2 owners' must-have list this fall," said Robert Ennis, Chief Financial Officer of Namco Hometek Inc. "The demo disc is a great way to give those gamers a taste of Namco's other award-winning properties, as well as some new titles being released later this year."

The disc itself will include playable examples of titles such as kill.switch, I-Ninja, and Tekken 4 in addition to presenting high-resolution trailers of approaching games such as R: Racing Evolution, Time Crisis 3, Pac-Man World 2, Namco Museum, Xenosaga Episode 1: Der Wille zur Macht, Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies, and Moto GP 3. There will even be some downloadable content for Shattered Skies, Tekken 4, MotoGP 3, and Tekken Tag Tournament

"The game has already taken top honors as 'Best Fighting Game' at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, and will doubtlessly gain further praise in the coming months," said Garry Cole, Senior Vice President of Sales at Namco Hometek Inc. "The addition of the demo disc will only help to increase awareness and anticipation for some of our other exciting franchises."

Check back with IGN for more on Soul Calibur II next week for PS2 editor Kaiser Hwang's full review. Stay tuned!

Dang!!!!!!!!!!! Now I gotta get this if for nothing else then the Tekken 4 material. Looks like I'll have to get the two versions of Soul Calibur 2 sooner then I planned.

It's good to see the PS2 version get something good out of the whole thing, considering they have the worst of the 3 exclusive characters.

WOW! A FRIKKIN DEMO DISC! Notice how the SC 2 threads have finally grinded to a halt in System Wars...I guess everyone has realized what a POS SC2 really is.

It's more a booster disc then a demo disc and it does provide enough material to those whiners that found Heihachi to be a lame addition.

As for SC2 threads in System Wars, what did you expect. You can only talk about a game so long. At least it was more talked about then that POS game named after some seventies television show. Yeah, I'm talking about KOTOR.

P.S. Currently at Level 82 in Mission Master Mode on GC: Edge Master of the Cerebrus.

Just wondering, have you played KOTOR or are you just going by someone else's opinion that it is supposed to be POS? Actually, the game is named after the movies, not tv show.

It would be so much easier for me if people could read between the lines.
