I for one was baffled by Sony's decision to opt for a tilt feature over the now
standard rumble feature. Realistically speaking, how many games will
benefit from the tilt feature ?
Games incorporating flight sequences will definitely benefit from this feature,
but what about racing games, fighting games, RPGs etc etc ? Heck, "flying
games" can use the standard controller setup for crying out loud !
Anyhoo, seems Sony has a new patent on it's hands. Could this be the reason
why they refuse to incorporate the rumble feature in their next gen controllers ?
The patent is for a device which contains a class of liquid which stiffens into
a semi-solid when subjected to a electric field. So ... how does this apply to
gaming ?
If a game player is defeated in a fighting game, the electrorheological fluid device
is controlled to become soft in order to improve the realistic sensations in the game.

Interesting. I could envision this as complementing the rumble feature, not replacing
it entirely. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
P.S. Yes, and I'm aware that this stiffening liquid could be applied into a certain
category of female toys ... but that's a female concern, not mine !
