View Full Version : Should games like God Of War 2 and Soul Calibur 3 been saved for the PS3?

Hello fellow gamers, my name is NEO-360. I'm a newbie around these parts. One thing that truly bothers me is the fact that Soul Calibur 3 and God Of War 2 IMO should'nt have been wasted on the PS2. Both of these games should've been saved for the PS3.

SC III: I'm a huge Soul Calibur fan! Indeed. But, to be honest SC III didnt look better than SC2 did for any of the other consoles. I did like the customize features in the game. But overall I really wasnt impressed with SC III. But if this game could've been saved for the PS3 I believe it would've been alot better graphically as well as endless possibilities to boot.(Like online play for example)

God Of War 2: One of the best games I've ever played was God of War on the PS2. This game kicked ass! I'm glad that there is another one on the horizon. But to me a sequel to this smash hit deserves to be on a grander stage like the PS3. The PS2 still has games to shout about.(RPG's especially) But IMO a game of this magnitude wont get the justice it rightfully deserves on the PS2 next year. This game should've been saved for the PS3 instead. But thats just me. What do you guys think?

No, I think they're just fine on the PS2, also when you consider that the next installments after will be on the PS3. Namco already said that the next SC will be on the PS3, and of course, GoW will not end after the next game, so it's safe to assume that the next one will be PS3 exclusive. Hell, they're probably already working on it.

Just because it isn't on the next gen system doesn't mean that it won't be just as impressive.

I can't speak for Soul Calibur III, but as far as God of War II, I don't have a problem seeing it on PS2. The dev team already has a solid graphics engine and a great gameplay engine to work with, which will lead to the game getting on store shelves a lot earlier than if it was made for PS3. Also, there's just no way a dev/publisher pass up over an installed base of over 100 million. That's too much $$ being left on the table, especially since the PS3 base will be small for a little while.

Don't worry. There will be a God of War III and probably IV built from the ground up for the PS3 in the future.

It makes me wonder just how long will we have to wait for Soul Calibur 4 & God Of War 3 for the PS3? Hopefully not too long.

I don't mind the wait. I think there will be a lot of other franchises worth playing between GoW 2 and 3.

The console doesn't determine the experience... and as far as GoW goes I can't believe how much the dev team squeezed out of the PS2. [Run it in 16x9 progressive... you'll see.] It's no 1080p [nor is your TV..] and it isn't as sharp as my XBox's 720p output... but it never left me wanting. When you have gameply in spades like GoW [and as GoW2 certianly should] the entertainment envelope is still being pushed, simply in less overtly obvious ways.
