There's tons of well rated games I haven't gotten around to, including Gun, Collosus, and Destroy All Humans. . . and all are cheap now. But what do I do? Impulse buy some weird-assed game for the full $50. RETARD!
Anyway, I've only played Steambot for about an hour, don't know if I like it yet. Anyone else looked at this game, or gotten it? I think I'm a sucker for box-blurbs, and this one said something along the lines of "If Hayzao Miyazaki designed a sand-box game, this would be it."
Technically, it's nothing amazing, but it's pretty interesting. So far, from what I gather, you are in this weird industrial age, but instead of cars, everyone has Trotmobiles, which are used for everything from transportation to farming and fighting. The controls aren't that hard, but I had trouble with the final test on the tutorial. . which I blame on the game, not my action/shooting skills.
The game is like. . . well, if you took Animal Crossing, Amplitude, Harvest Moon, Katamari Damacy and Mech Warriors and shook it all up and spewed out a cell-shaded game, this would be it. Yeah, Amplitude. There's this whole music game in it to. This chick Connie who finds your amnesia-ridden ass after a shipwreck is in a band.
Part of the appeal for me was Atlus has done a nice job of bringing over some pretty out-there unpolished but cool stuff from Japan, including my much beloved Cubivore (which, btw, I saw yesterday again, used, for $60.) Atlus was also kind enough to give fans of the unusual Trauma Center.
On a side note, I asked the store clerk about their copy of Cubivore, and he mentioned they'd had one other rare game blow through earlier in the day. . . a copy of Rez. DAMMIT. I really want that game.
