I thought that game was shaping up nicely. Other than that you know it is a slow month when Tiger gets GOTM.

HOW DO YOU PEOPLE ALWAYS GET YOUR EGMS SO EARLY?!

I saw a nice clip of Otogi recently and that game looks like Shinobi for PS2 on mega 'roids.

Isn't Simpsons Hit n Run supposed to be like GTA Simpsons? I was suprised it was rated so highly...

Wow, and I thought Alter Echo was gonna be good...

PN 03 will now be known as POS 03.

AND WTF?! I was looking forward to seeing a True Crime SOLA review!

LOL, I don't even get EGM. I got the scores from another forum. It's nice to see Otogi doing well if for no other reason then the fact that the last three action games like it (DMC2, Shinobi and PN03) have largely sucked review wise. F-zero's score surprised me. I've already got a sinking feeling that most GC owners will pass up Soul Calibur 2 and get F-zero.

.. but I can tell you I'd take F-Zero over Otogi any day. (The camera in Otogi bugged the $#!% out of me!)

To heck with both of them though; I'm persnally more interested in Dino Crisis and Buffy: Chaos Bleeds.

Or I was... yech, EGM didn't like either of those did they?!?
I sure would like to read what they have to say about these games though.

And PN03... I couldn't help but notice the poor scores for that one too. (Damn, Capcom's having a rough year!)

Disgaea is getting pretty good reviews across the board for its battle system, anime art and humour and is being touted as one of the best Strategy RPGs since Tactics. Ah, yet another life sucker I as contend with.

I could excuse Auto Modellista, DMC2, PN03 and others because after last year's financial losses Capcom incurred in their real estate holdings, I was thinking that the current bad crop of games might have been because someone in upper management panicked and had them rushed. This faith doesn't extend to Dino Crisis 3 though since that game has been in development for quite a while now. I just hope Capcom doesn't screw up Resident Evil 4. I hear that the guy who worked on DC3 is also working on RE4. Hopefully he learns from his mistakes.

Here's hoping Viewtiful Joe is the beginning of quality software from Capcom again.

I wouldn't say only Capcom...I'd say nearly all Japanese devs are being left in the dust here in the states. I think that people need to realize that not everyone digs the Japanese style games. I haven't purchased NEARLY as many Japanese games in the last 5 years as I did 10 years ago. Standards are ever higher in this billion dollar biz and I, for one, am sick of the sub par quality. Maybe others are content with the same gameplay systems that have been implemented since the 80's now dressed up to look pretty but not me. Just my 'pinion though.

</div>

F-zero 9.0, 7.0, 7.5 avg. 7.83
Otogi 9.0, 7.0, 9.0 avg. 8.33

Wow, a whole half point difference. :o

What I got from another forum was that EGM felt the difficulty level was on the extreme side for f-zero. You can add Group S Challenge and Pro Cast Fishing to the growing lineup of mediocre Capcom pap this year. Believe it or not, this used to be one of my favorite developers. I loved SF2 and Onimusha was a fav as well, but this year has to be one of the roughest they've had.

Which one was supposed to be the killer app.

I'm not surprised at the Buffy scores. It probably would have done better if The Collective developed this one.

The P.N. 03 scores doesn't surprise me, even though the DC3 scores do. I kind of want this game, but it will probably be in my best interest if I wait for it

(As if you didn't already know that. Everybody gets GI, don't they?)

Here's the reason for the "low" scores - from the last parargraph of the article (just in case there are actually some here that do not get GI):

"F-Zero GX is just as entertaining as it is frustrating. If you've broken controllers before, it might be in your best interest to skip it. Conversely, if you seek a challenge, you'll get it in spades".

[Wriiten by Reiner; From the Sept. 2003 issue, #125... on sale at newstands now :p ]

I find a couple of interesting things about all this:

1) when (several) professional game reviewers write and complain about a game's difficulty... well, I think that says something.

2) "Difficult"? "Frustrating"? Are they really talking about a Nintendo game here?!? [Glockstar blinks hard as his jaw drops, and shakes his head in disbelief] But I thought... didn't Nintendo say that... weren't they supposed to be... making their games... easier?!? I say... huh? What gives?!?

Probably because Sega developed F-zero. The difficulty makes me want this game more though because the ghost challenges in Crash Nitro Kart were among my most favorite challenges in a racing game.

First off if TWG 2004 is all that then I just may buy this game just to learn the game.Second I'm actually surprised that P.N.03 review was poor.I actually thought this game would do better. No surprise about Buffy though.I mean lets face it the Collective makes great games. And they've proven it with the last Buffy on the Xbox and the last Indiana Jones game.

When I heard that they werent making this one I said to myself I'm not buying the next one then.I'm not surprised about DC3 either. The Dino Crisis series never faired well.If I get the itch to play a Dino game I'll wait for B.C. to arrive for the Xbox.Otagi was a pleasant surprise.Sega still can produce quality games.Thank goodness.Mario Golf as kiddie it is always had great gameplay in the past incarnations.

F-Zero looks great for the GC.Cant deny that. But I dont know why the reviewers were crying so much about how hard this game was.I mean a challenge is not a bad thing but a good thing.Other than that all the rest of the EGM scores werent really a surprise.Other than that thanks for posting the EGM scores Slade.
