Yesterday the 360 turned 6 months old.
6 months from now, the PS3 and Wii are due to arrive.
This being a halfway point of sorts, I'd like to turn our full attention to these "next-gen" consoles and think about what it is exactly we want to get from them, or see from the next-generation of gaming.
For me, it's pretty much the same as last gen.
Seriously. I'm still looking for Road Rash. I'm still looking for Cyberball on Xbox Live. (Though, supposedly, that is coming soon.) I'm still looking for Incredible Technologies to wake up and put out a Golden Tee Golf game, complete with Xbox Live play and a real-life, high-quality track-ball controller.(!) I'd pay $300 for that, IT!
I'm still looking for Burgertime and Pengo and Mappy. How perfect they would be for Xbox Live Arcade! Come on, where are the arcade classics?! Xbox Live Arcade needs more arcade classics!
We are getting Ms. tho', so that's cool. (Can scratch that one off the list too.)
You know what else would be great for Xbox Live Arcade? Alien Hominid. Those... #@$%es... they skipped over the Xbox last-gen (the dumbazz publishers released an XB version in the UK only)! I think XLA and The Behemoth would make a perfect couple.
There is another game I want to see on 360, that I might be getting: Culdcept. The game was announced for the system, but the trailer they put out over XLA was more damaging than it was inspiring. Still, I'm crossing my fingers.
Halo 3, Forza 2, Fable 2, I obviously want - and will obviously get.
Crimson Skies 2 and MechAssault 3, I obviously want - but their future is uncertain. Why?!
I sure would love to see Lorne Lanning do another Oddworld game. But apparently that request will not likely be met this generation. That's not what this thread is about tho', and with that: I want Oddworld 4!
Another game I'm unlikely to see, but want to see real bad: Links. MS sold off the studio responsible for the franchise to Take-Two a couple of years ago - and they recently shut her down completely (same team was responsible for the Amped games). Boo hoo hoo. :( :( :( I want Links!!!
I also want to see Brute Force 2. [... ... waiting for everyone to stop laughing... ...]
[.... ...still waiting... ...]
Seriously.
[... ...waiting again... ...]
Come on, the game was not that bad. It was dissapointing, yes. But still a good game. We need to remember why exactly it was dissapointing tho': it was dissapointing, mainly, because it was not Xbox Live enabled - when so many games were coming out at the same time that were - that was inexcusable. And they took forever to finish it. So what were they doing?! The game was also shallow. But it was technically solid, and it looked good, sounded good, and played great. It was very close to being a great game - it just needed more... substance. A story. A ship to explore and do things on, besides just sit and watch cutscenes of the characters standing on the bridge. And some RPG-elements would be nice too. Things easily fixed! Come on, Digital Anvil, get on it! Digital Anvil, hello? What happened to them?
If I would've made this post just a couple of weeks ago I might've asked for something like Live Anywhere. But I doubt it; I'm not that clever. So at this point all I can ask for is 1) that it works just like I hope it will, and 2) that it comes out ASAP!
Another biggie that I want to see: Oblivion 2, or Elder Scrolls V: whatever. Whatever they want to call it, whatever angle they want to pursue with it, I don't care - I just don't want to wait a whole 'nother generation for it! They need to stick with this one - and fix all the frickin bugs on Oblivion!!! That's all I ask.
But the thing that I most want to see is: Knights of the Old Republic III ! These multi-core processors are just what KOTOR I and KOTOR II needed - now we got them... now we just need the game! Where is the game? Where is news of the game? Where's a whisper of the game? My heart will absolutely freaking break if they don't come out with a KOTOR III. Come on Lucas! And Obsidian can do it (it doesn't have to be BioWare) that's perfectly fine; they did a great job on II. PLEASE!
And, if wishes were fishes - which they are in this thread - then I want all of the above to come out on the 360. I'm sticking with just the one system this time around. Or that's the plan anyway.
Except with KOTOR III, I'm not going to be picky on that detail - I will buy whatever system they release it for.
