These are nice clips showing off actual gameplay. I like it. You build a certain type of habitat to attract certain types of creatures. I can see this becoming a surpise hit this fall.

Everyone here pretty much laughed at me when I said Viva Pinata was one of the reasons I wanted a 360.

Not me. Because I knew that this could be the game that starts the 360 on it's path to having more of the types of games that the PS2 and Game Cube had. People always complained about XBOX being for the Mountain Dew Extreme crowd, but it looks now like MS took that to heart and is really making an effort to reach a wider spectrum of gamers.

The tides are turning, Sony...watch out.

Now if the 360 can get some epic originals(SotC-type epics), but I'm still fizzed that the XBOX crowd pretty much forced Lorne Lanning to try out other media and give up on games. I get chills when I think what kind of Oddworld we would've seen on next-gen. Then it's followed by sadness for the fact that there may never be another Oddworld game again.

I did.

And I find it hard to believe that Wacko and/or CK have any interest in the game either. I'm not sure they realize what kind of game this is.

That said, I want to make it very clear that I think the game is still a great idea. And a great direction for Rare to go.

Hey, I'm not going to buy every single game that comes down the pike - even if I could afford it, and even if I had the time. There are tons of games that demand more playtime than an initial playthru. Games like Halo 2 and Forza and Chaos Theory. I am not that selfish that I need every single game to cater my every specific whim - I know there are lots of other groups of people out there who need good games too.

If MS wants their 360 to be all it can be, then it needs to appeal to more and more of those different groups. And if I want the 360 to succeed (not because I'm an Xbox fanboy, or have stock in MS, but simply because I own a 360; I bought one - I spent quite a bit of money on it, I think - and I want to see as many games as possible come out for it) then I should want them to diversify, and should consider such projects as Viva Pinata to be a good thing. Which I do.

Still... I'd sh-aving cream a brick, if you guys actually ended up liking it.

Well. . .maybe I'm missing what kind of game it is. I mean, bright colors and cutesy themes don't put me off, but if the gameplay is truely kiddie and retarded and shallow, then definitely not good.

I was getting the idea that it was a creative trippy sandbox game with a bit of an Animal Crossing vibe and an all ages appeal, but I don't know. I mean, even the kiddier Rare games haven't limited themselves to kids. . and we're talking the company that made Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Seems like the info on the game is pretty limited at this point, and being Rare, who knows when they will actually finish making it.

Right now, screenshots of a new 360 game I just saw has me salivating. Overlord.

Yo if you still play Chaos Theory (co-op) send me an Invite. I haven't played the new maps Co-op mode is basically dead now. And I want to.

In the interviews the developers say that the game has some pretty deep gameplay elements that should appear to a more mature audience.

I just saw an article (link) (http://cathodetan.blogspot.com/2006/07/pinatas-having-sex.html) about that yesterday.
