So, what are you doing, as far as video games are concerned? Well, maybe 2 or 3 questions. What have you been doing? and what do you plan on doing soon-ish?

This past couple of weeks, I was trying my hardest to survive 1,000,000 points in Geometry Wars. It was the last achievement that I needed. I must've played the game about thirty times before I was finally able to get it. I had also demolished my old high score and I had a rank under 700(out of over 100,000 people), but in only one day, I saw it drop over forty spots! Grrr. XBOX Live is so competative.

I've actually been improving my high scores in all of my Live Arcade games recently, with the exception of Zuma. That game is impossible, and when I do do(heh) good, it doesn't give me my achievement points. Booo. My next mission is to beat Mutant Storm Reloaded all the way through on one set of lives. Then I'll have all of my achieves for that game.

My current favorite game is Burnout Revenge. I want to collect the Crash achieve, but I really suck at it because I don't know the layouts of the junctions, and I get frustrated when I loos on Live because it kills my World Rank. For instance, just today I had my rank down to 47, and then I played a 6-rounder of Crash and cames in 4 out of 6, and my rank shot down to 580.

Also, I've been slowly working on getting my achieves for CoD2(hard to get the last 4), and DOA4( only have 280/1000 points), but for some reason I can't advance.

Next week, I'll be playing nothing but New Super Mario Bros. for the DS, and of course, I'll still be playing Revenge.

I also forgot to mention that this past week a lot of time was spent getting crappy demos(Test Drive, Moto GP), and DLing a bunch of very short videos. It was still neat though. Although I didn't win anything playing Revenge or DOA4 this past week.

Played through tony hawk american sk8land on the DS and I have to say the game controls quite well, better than I had guessed it would. Also been playing through Gun on the gamecube which is actualy a decent bit of fun. but yeah come the 16th or 17th it will be nothing but new super mario for me as well for a few days.

I've been spending all my free time lately on photography and recording music, so very little gaming. Just Brain Age on DS and a lot of Warioware and Gunstar at work on the Micro. I've been meaning to play more Burnout Revenge. . .a friend that works at EA gave me a copy for Ps2, but I've only played it a little bit.

Next week, I will stop wandering around taking pictures and my thumbs will be glued to the DS and the new Super Mario Bros game.

This relative hiatus from console gaming is nice. I will be totally ready and into it whenever I get one of the next gen consoles. The Wii did so well at E3 that I'm concerned it's going to be very very hard to get one this fall. . . I'm NOT paying $600 for a Ps3. The 360 just looks better and better every day that goes by.

I finally beat Geist yesterday, and I gotta say, the very last boss battle made my opinion of the game go from "it could be better, but I like it" to "I hate this game with a passion." Note to N-Space - boss battles should be difficult because of a challenging strategy involved, not because you decide to completely break the control scheme for the last fight to make it artificially difficult.

Other than that, I've been "playing" Brain Age a lot and I'm still rather obsessed with Metroid Prime Hunters. I've even moved up to the "Elite Hunter" ranking in MPH, cause I've played it so much.

I'm all about NSMB next week!

I've been playing Oblivion. I only have three goals in the game: Finish Fighters & Mages Guild, close all the gates, and complete the main quest. Those goals may take forever if I keep doing random quests such as "stopping a goblin war so settlers can finish their town" and "paying a woman cash so she will not realize I stole and sold some heirlooms from her ancestor's cave-tomb".

I also been playing PGR3. There's a lot of cars in the game, but I only need 5 max to win races & time trials.

I've come to the realization that Madden 2004 is my favorite one from this gen, though if I wasn't cautious about playing blue PS2 discs in my system, I would play Madden 2001 instead.

I've also been meaning to jump back on Tomb Raider and complete the time trials and unlock everything, and finish MGS3:S.

As far as new buys, I'm either going to get GTA: LCS or Driver :Parallel Lines on PS2, or both whenever they come out/hit the magic price.

Right now I'm playing Heroes of Might and Magic 5. Probably the game I will be spending most of my time on for a few months.

I've been dabbling into Oblivion here and there but the game has been growing boring for me. It still has the typical Elder Scroll's sickness of being boring after a while since the world is so static and lacking in "active" detail and strong narrative. It doesn't help that you hear the same voices everywhere you go, and that everyone's face is so ugly. The gameplay options having been dumbed down since Morrowind make it even less fun to play in many ways.

Fortunatley the game still looks fantastic and even just running around forests is enough of a diversion for me, and I'll still be playing it, but HOMM5 has stolen its thunder for now.

Was also playing Ghost Recon PC version but it sucks. Plays like a pig, no AA, drab city environments, overall a huge disappointment. I guess 360 owners got us good here.

On consoles I just finished Suikoden 5 several weeks back, right now just wasting time on it playing Tekken 5 and Pride Grand Prix 2003. Not much else going, although I was supposed to get MS Saga but somehow we sold out of copies here and I can't get my hands on any.

Most of my freetime is still spent watching anime and PrideFC. UFC 60 coming up the wings, looking forward to Hughes slamming Gracie out of kingdom come, and Gracie putting on RNC FTW.

Well I was going through some legal issues got those out the way. Me and the wife are building (or having built) a deck out back.

I've been catching up on some console games and getting back into comics. Marvel has just started a miniseries called Civil war which should be a fanboy's dream. All the heroes are fighting each other not going to get into plot details though.

Just finish Ultimate Spiderman the game was sweet this was my first expericence with the new web swing Mechanic since I didn't play Spiderman 2 the movie game.

Playing Incredible Hulk ultimate destruction as well this game is awesome a bit shallow but good fun.

Tried to get into KOTOR II but the game has several game crashing bugs My save file was corrupted so I just quit.

Finish the story mode on Tomb Raider Legend not too long ago have no desire to play the extras.

Actually looking forward to FFXII I've never played through a FF game before the longest I ever played one was up till the Helicopter Gunship battle in FFVII.

Next month I plan on going Next Gen.

KOTOR 2 - I should have known better after the first game. KOTOR 2 was supposedly by Black Isle rather than Bioware so I gave it a shot, but frankly I found KOTOR 1 was actually more playable. And since you all know I dislike KOTOR 1....

I've been short of personal time lately which has contributed to my playing less videogames. Like Gadfly, I've also been spending more time writing/playing/recording music which has also taken some time from gaming.

Anywho, here is what I've been playing lately:

1. Full Auto (360)
Fun game in small doses. Making my way through the career mode trying to earn silver or Full Auto (gold) medals in every event. I'm about 75% of they way through the career mode. Play online once or twice a week and usually get smoked. I initially thought this game was pure luck/no skill online, but I was wrong.

2. Tomb Raider Legend (360)
Slowly making my way through. I think I'm just less than half way so far. This game is pretty fun in my opinion although it's not the most polished experience I've had.

3. Mario Kart DS & Brain Age DS
Playing each title every day during work breaks. Brain Age is starting to irk however as my handwriting is too sloppy and the voice recognition doesn't always understand me.

Played MK DS online a couple times so far and had a blast. It's nice to finally play MK online!!

4. Major League Baseball 2k6 (360)
Just played my first season game last night. Not really a "next gen" experience but currently the only baseball title playable on the 360. Still trying to learn the new hitting and pitching mechanics.

5. Guitar Hero (PS2)
Finally picked up and are playing this title. Great game!!

6. XBOX Live Arcade
Mainly Uno lately.

Upcoming titles (gaming plate):
360 - GRAW, Blazing Angels, Top Spin 2, would like to play some more PGR3 (got distracted by Full Auto and Burnout Revenge), would like to try some COD2 online multiplayer and finish the veteran levels

DS - New Super Mario Brothers

I bought Civil War #1 and I'm pretty psyched for #2 to show up in a week or two. I've gotta say, Captain America is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in the Marvel universe - he's a fricken' badass.

If you ever have the chance, check out The Ultimates - it's basically the Avengers in Marvel's Ultimate universe. Cap'n America is even more of a badass in that series and it's written my the same dude who is writing Civil War - Mark Millar.

The Ultimates actually bought me back into comics I went from like 25 titles a month for like 13 yrs. Then I just gave it up lost interest bought a couple TPB but the Ultimates I read a preview online and was hooked. I only read about 4 or 5 books a month now though.

Even caps regular series has picked up as well. Bought Ultimate Cap is the Shizz. Did you watch the Ultimate Avengers movie?

For whatever reason, Spidey's "The Other" storyline got me back into comics, but that also has lead me to Civil War, so it's ok.

The Ultimates is just about the best thing that's happened to comics in years and years.

Did you watch the Ultimate Avengers movie?

I did and it was pretty decent, although I wish it would have been a bit more "mature" like the Ultimates is. I'm glad that they at least based the movie off of that series, though.

Plus, I hope they can improve the animation quality for their upcoming films.

I needed a time waster...

anyway, so in the past few weeks, I've been playing Quake 3 Arena on my old and my new PC, as well as Guitar Hero and Amplitude on my PS2.

Most recently, I've been playing through FEAR on my new PC as well as still playing a bit of Quake 3.

The future? Half Life 2 ep 1...then Guitar Hero 2...those are the only 2 "for sure" games until I upgrade my PC's vid card (when the 1 GB cards go down in $).

Yeah I love the ultimates I'm kind of weary of the new creative team Joe Maduria (sp?) artwork is heavily influenced anime style and after the realistic style I think the change might be jarring. Plus I hear they want to make it less militaritisic(my word) and more super heroish oh well.

The movie was good I figured it wood be kiddified but I still enjoyed it. I can watch that with me son.

So, what are you doing, as far as video games are concerned? Well, maybe 2 or 3 questions. What have you been doing? and what do you plan on doing soon-ish?

I've been obsessed with Oblivion. It's been an obsession like no other. I wonder where this game will end up on my all-time list? I'll have put over 300 hours in by the end of this week, but I reckon it'll still be a few months before I know.

I'll put in DOA4 every once and a while. When I play it, it's to start up and finish a new character's story. Then I'll see about the rest of the game modes after I've got everybody unlocked.

Kind of treating DOA4 like Geometry Wars: can only take it in small doses. I only play GW for, like, 3 or 4 games at a time.

And Hexic, when I've got a little bit of time to kill but am not feeling up to the fast paced action of a DOA4 or GW.

When I'm done with Oblivion (whatever done means to my mind (even I don't know what it means at this point)) I have to get back to GRAW; I have to pass final judgement on that game soon.

Ditto for PGR3.

Also have some more scenarios to (buy and) play out in Outpost Kaloki X. Looking forward to getting to them too... but, as with everything else, playtime is beyond my control (on account of Oblivion).

Don't know when I'll ever get to Kameo. :(

Finally turned on my old Xbox last week. It had been over a month. (Again, Oblivion.) Got a new obsession there now too: Rush 2049. I'm telling you, once you start after those silver and gold coins, boy... (Dammit I wish this game would get the 360 treatment.)

The plan here is to get to Stranger's Wrath ASAP. (Just as soon as Oblivion releases it's stranglehold over me.)

On the handheld side... Been playing a some Daxter now and then. It's an okay game. But I really would just like to get it over and done with and get back to better things.

Truth be told, I haven't been playing a whole bunch on the handhelds (and got rid of my DS altogether) because I've been reading a ton lately. (Yay for me!)

Now, the weirdest thing I've been doing vg-wise is... drooling over Guild Wars Factions artwork.

Anybody else get Play magazine? If so, may I please direct you to pages 64 and 65... Yeah, I know, the new cover ladies are hotties to be sure, but it's more than that... their renderings are just plain old amazing! Omg, the details! My eyes cannot get enough. And I have been thinking about buying this game (the deluxe edition of course; as it comes with an artbook)... simply... because of... the artwork. Is that weird (am I whacked), or what?

I wish I could find these two drawings from Play on the web so that I could post them here and show y'all what I'm talking about, but I can't find them. But then again, those are just the creme de la creme... there are others of the ritualist and the assassin (that's the one for me!) and plenty of renderings from the first game that are awesome too, and you can viddy those at the Guild Wars website... http://www.guildwarsfactions.com/

I am seriusly thinking about getting this game. (Did I already say that?)

Nah, that's not weird. I was initially attracted to Panzer Dragon Orta for the XBOX based simply on the artwork (having not played the Saturn version prior). My preorder and purchase of that game was exactly like you're describing. Didn't hurt that the game ended up being great!!

Now playing 300 hours of Oblivion on the other hand.... ;)

Currently playing through MK Armageddon. Really weak fighting, but the intro video is sick-assed awesome-O. I wanted to post about it in my The BEst Trailers... thread, but I couldn't find it, so here I am.

Also playing Jet Set Radio Future on the Xbox. very good game, if a bit heavy on Asian common mistakes(grammar, stereotypes, wacked characters, tries to be too cool), but overall, I'm digging it. The ost is a little too pop-ish for my tastes also.

I recently got Burnout Dominator for the PS2, and I'm struggling to get into this game in any way. I thought I would like it better than Takedown since there is just a focus on racing and race-types instead of Crash events, which there are none, but it's more annoying than enjoyable somehow. I can't be the graphic leap from BR on the 360, because I can still play Takedown like a champ. This game is just rubbing me the wrong way for some odd reason.

On my DS I got Trauma Center which is amazing, and FF3, which is a PitA. Turn-based just isn't doing it for me anymore.

1# is CHROMEHOUNDS XBOX 360 - best hound/mech game ever. I have 230 hours into it and still have probably another 150 hours left to go before I rank up to Colonel.

2# Dark Messiah - best first person fighter / adventure. Great Graphics! plays awsome on my pc. Dual Sli 7900's, Dual Core 3.4, 2 g mem, 22 Wide LCD.

Cuddly Knike - I agree with you Jet Set Radio Future is a great game. I would never have though I would have like a game like this but once I started playing I had to finish it. It is really fun yet sometimes fustrating due to the controls but overalll a super game. Gum is my favorite skater!

I agree with JSRF comment. Jet Grind Radio for Dreamcast was the start and JSRF for the xbox is just leaps and bounds ahead of it. I know if I ever buy an MS console JSRF is the first game I'm buying.

As for games I've been playing, well they're all in my sig. I've really put an emphasis on FFXI the last couple of weeks though. I figure once I beat all the main missions in the game I'll consider that "beating" the game since there really is no way to finish it. I still have some lvl grinds to go before I can finish it though. I've also been playing GRAW. I find it very enjoyable once you get the hang of giving orders to your squad efficiently.

BF2142 I also like to play. Ace Combat Zero has gotten some stick time too. Been playing some San Andreas, but that game is tiresome driving literally for 5-10 minutes just to get somewhere. Other than that, the other games I pop in occasionally when I'm bored.

Command and Conquer 3 has been my time sucker-upper over the last few days. Been playing the campaign and it's pretty damn fun, and the skirmishes against the computer are bringing back memories of fully ranked-up Armageddon tanks crawling into the Allied base and destroying all their plasma tanks and plasma towers in Red Alert 2.

Been doing some WoW too. My character is up to level 66 (only 4 more to go!), and damn did Blizzard do a great job with the expansion. Hope to reach end-game soon since I'm heading back stateside and will be able to participate in some much needed raiding and PvP.

I'm also planning to hit up Company of Heroes soon. I left that game on the back burner after my Alienware did its routine f***-up and became unusable, so I might hit it up soon. Ever since I started playing C&C3 I've gotten the RTS bug bad, and am thinking of dipping my toes back in WC3 (although that probably won't happen for a while).

This thread is almost a year old, but my first sentence from my previous post is the same as my next sentence.....I've been playing Oblivion. I just left the Shivering Isles for a while, and I'm even going to take a break from playing the game to play other things.

I've been giving the PS3 some love this week, with Motorstorm and Madden, along with demos of Gran Turismo and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I've also decided to get rid of Virtua Fighter 5.

I've been online with the PS3 and 360, and while I've enjoyed downloading this and that (alogn with some themes), the multiplayer experience sucks. It's not due to the games, it's due to the suckiness of most people who are playing games online. It may be the games, too, like Saint's Row for example. I enjoyed the single player a lot, but when this game is put into a deathmatch type of game, it gets old very quick. Old, stale, lame, etc. Motorstorm? Honestly, I've had more fun playing against the more unpredictable AI than the blandness of online players. Whenever I get a chance to play some LIVE with Cuddly, Five, and Glock I'll enjoy it a little bit more.

More than likely I'll pickup Spiderman 3 for PS3. Not sure if I want the collector's edition or standard.

Right Now I'm playing Zelda on the Wii finally got around to buying it. It's really good. Funny thing the controller does nothing for me in this game. It's not worse it's not better it's just is which I guess is a good thing.

On the PSP I'm playing Burnout Dominator which is more Burnout 2 than 3. It has Takedowns like Burnout 3 but the gameplay is mostly BO2. It's hard going back to it after the traffic checking of Revenge though.

I'm slogging my way through MGS PO but It's just not that appealing to me I'll probably never finish it. The first for me and a MGS game. I finished the GBA version. Syphon Filter rapes this game in every way.

On the 360 I'm playing GRAW 2 (online haven't really touched single player) and I've gotten back into UNO on live as well.

Also I pick up GOW 2 every now and then just to play around with it. I've finished it twice and the game is sick.

Almost a year later, this is what's happening:

1. My PS2, despite having 3 quality JRPGs waiting to be played, is gathering dust.
2. Playing these games on and off on my PC: Stalker, Oblivion, Worms, and Sexy Beach 3.
3. Neverwinter Nights 2 is still waiting to be picked up again, probably after I grow sick of Stalker and Oblivion.

What's going on? Well I seem to not have much time to play these days, after having a gotten a girlfriend my time is split balancing the niceties of social life and gaming life. But more importantly, the reason I don't get enough gaming time is becuase, of all things, my GF is too busy playing Sexy Beach 3 on MY computer. O_o

So while she does that I waste my time playing Lost in Blue and Animal Crossing on the DS.

Sexy Beach 3? I'd past some screens and links to videos but RtR or ET might ban me for life. Let's just say DOAXBV has nothing on Sexy Beach.

As for Stalker it plays great! I feel though that the missions could have been larger and more varied, and the environments are smaller than I thought they would be. The AI though is something else, extremely advanced and the creatures and enemy humans behave quite impressively. The game itself is pretty small and over fairly quick and managing your inventory is a freaking pain. The game should have included a car for you to stash your stuff in.

All in all a great game but it didn't quite match my expectations, but any FPS fan should play it. I did make a thread about how Dark Messiah of Might and Magic made me shelf it temporarily because in my opinion Dark Messiah was the superior game, although review sites around the web panned Dark Messiah like no tomorrow.

I found it! The one arcade game that I've been looking for for all of my gaming life, just about.

GLADIATOR
http://www.vgmuseum.com/pics/gladiatr.gif

http://www.vgmuseum.com/pics/glad0000.gif

Turns out the game is part of Taito Legends. A sweet compilation that has my all-time favorite game, Bubble Bobble, along with games like Operation Wolf, Elevator Action, Rastan(another classic arcade game that I used to enjoy), and the smash hit(craptacular now), Space Invaders!

But like I said earlier, this game has always been in the back of my mind. I always wondered if they made it as a regular game for the PS1 or something even before that, but I never really followed it up for unknown reasons. I bought the game(6 dollars brand new) at a video place, for Bubble Bobble, but turns out that I found the games that I wanted that I haven't played in about 20 years.

I never was able to get very far when I was a young buck because my sKills lacked back then I guess, and it's just as difficult now because of the cheap-sauce action that goes down, but I'm still loving every minute of it now that I have it at home.

Also playing Super Monkey Ball 2 for the first time. I never played part one, and I thought about getting it, but I heard that 2 was more, more, more, so I got that instead. It's an alright game from what I've played so far, but really, it has nothing on the level design of Marble Blast Ultra for the 360.

Killer 7, man. Killer 7. Just finished chapter 2, time for Cloudman. One of the best original-styled games I've ever played. Killer 7. GCN. Never gonna play it? Check out the plot guide on Gamefaqs for the craziness.

I recently imported Breath of Fire 3 from the UK. I missed it back in the day, and I play 2-3 hours of WoW a night. I wanted to get to level 70 (I'm at 61) but I think I'm about done with WoW. My console sensibilities are telling me it's time to move on.

I've been playing Battle Field 2142 for the longest time now, really love this game. When im really bored, i'll give guitar hero 2 some time, over half way done expert.

Almost 2 months into summer with no next gen system...waiting on a reason to buy a PS3. Not that it matters much anyway cause i'll be going back to school in September, coming back to see it on the rare weekend...

Which is why BF2142 is the easiest, it's on my laptop, i take it with me, i could pick up and drop off whenever. Can't wait for the next one.

I'm playing Pokemon Pearl. =_= At the office. While typing this. And hiding my DS behind a gigantic pig stuffed toy so that my boss won't accuse me of slacking off. Hehehehe.

At home I just finished Shivering Isles and am going about the Knights of the Nine quest in Oblivion.

I shelved Stalker -- was fun but it's getting limiting as an FPS and I felt like breaking out into a real RPG again (Oblivion). And I'm still playing Age of Mythology in spurts with my GF.

I installed a couple of games but have left them to rot : Armed Assault and Dawn of War. I need a new RPG or shooter to keep me busy, I'm in the mood for one right now.

That's what my gaming scene looks like right now.
