What's on your hdd?

For me, other than Tool right now, it's all VG or instrumental music. I'm trying something different for a while, and it's damn good.

random VG mix 01- SF2 symphony, Katamari, Space Channel 5 extended title theme(***)
random VG mix 02- Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 various themes, Morrowind title theme, Mario and Zelda big band style,

Plus, what do you like to listen to when you don't want to hear the soundtracks of the games you play? For the Live Arcade shooters, I usually throw in Ikaruga, Gradius V or any trance-paced tunage I have. After a while, I started listening to my ambient mixes for Oblivion, and they worked out great. Final fantasy X, Shenmue 2, and Jade Empire worked good as well, go figure. For Hexic, it's nothing but Pulsar Bleu or the original music, nothing else. For my multi-player FPS, I prefer the regular game ambience.

What's on your hdd?

Pastor Troy - 4 CDs worth of songs
Destiny's Child - 2
Evanescence -1
Dido - 1
Nirvana - 1 song "Smells like Teen Spirit"
Ashanti - 2
Venga Boys - 3 songs
A few GTA 3 songs
A couple of Outrun (Sega Saturn's Sega Ages) songs
Janet Jackson - 4 CDs
And a bunch of songs from here and there in a genre I call "mix"

I'm thinking about putting a couple of songs from Sonic the Hedgehog, but it may be too cheesy to listen to outside that game.

So far, there's only one game I like to listen to my own music to, and that's PGR3. For some reason, Janet Jackson, Venga Boys and Evanescence have been the best when it comes to me winning races/trophies. I probably will just play custom soundtracks in either racing or GTA-type games, or whatever games have a lot of driving in them.

Hell no, it's not cheezy! Classic VG OSTs are some of the best tunes to jam while playing some other game. Streets of Rage 2 is the best example, but selections from Sonic 1 and 2 are solid as well.

I also recently added Wind Waker
30 Seconds to Mars(both CDs)
an Alice in Chains mix
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
A metal mix with bands like Savatage, Type O Negative, Ozzy(RR era), and Nada Surf
Devil Driver mix
Nonpoint mix(2 CDs)
a classic Dream Theater mix
Filter mix
a Juno Reactor mix(it's all your fault, Unlucky)
Type O Negative CDs( World Coming Down, October Rust, LiKM)
Meshuggah mix
Pantera- The Great Southern Trendkill
a mix with songs from rythme based games like Amplitude/Frequency, Guitar Hero and such
Type O Negative covers and rare tracks
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
Zone of Enders 2nd Runner
2 mixes made from songs that are in Devil May Cry combo videos

1130 songs, and I still have over 6 gigs of memory. I did do a lot of cleaning and got rid of filler that I know I wouldn't like though, so it could be worse, if I didn't maintain my shpeel..

I think one of my two favorite Sonic 1 songs would be ok (Starlight Level), but the other would really sound cheesy.

I do have the old Outrun songs, but would like to get a hold of the Anti-Soul Chamber (?) level song from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. That's probably my favorite from the Xbox/PS2 gen.

I still have yet to listen to the music that came with the 360, and I haven't deleted it yet either. I'll need to do it by 9/6.

I have no albums loaded onto my XBOX 360 HDD. I just deleted them the other day. Prior to deletion I had only 3 cd's on the hard drive mainly due to my being lazy and not putting any on:
FNM - King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime
COC - Deliverance
Pantera - Best of...

For some reason I like heavier music when playing games but not too heavy where the singer is growling (or maybe that's just my preference regardless).

The reason I deleted all music off of HD is due to my buying a better router and finally getting the Media sharing between my PC and 360 working. Now I can access my PC mp3 library which is over 20 gig or so (basically a shztload of tunes).

It's excellent because I can drop tunes from the PC into an XBOX360 custom playlist to make a quick adhoc shuffle or I can play full albums and whatnot. I'm really glad I got this working and have been loving it lately.

Heh! I hope, for your sake, that that mix includes Pistolero. :wink5:

Wow, but you have a lot of vg soundtracks. That's pretty cool.

I only have three. Well, two actually - Halo and Halo 2 - I got Panzer Dragoon Orta for free and have never taken it out of the plastic... and I doubt I ever will; sorry, I just didn't care for the music in that game.

I've always wanted to get the Advent Rising, Fable, and Stubbs the Zombie OSTs.

I've thought about doing that... but it doesn't seem as easy as they let on - not to me anyway. How was it, Five? You wouldn't mind posting on your experience/sharing some pointers there, would you?

It's fairly easy to do. The XBOX360 official website has great instructions and you can also call 1-800-4MY-XBOX in the event you need further assistance.

Fortunately, I didn't have to call anyone and got it working on my own.

Here is the scoop:
1. You need your 360 and PC on the same network (If you are using a router like myself, they already should be on the same network).
2. Download Windows File/Media Sharing if you don't already have it on your PC (instructions on XBOX360 website on how and where to download).
3. Set-up the 360 as a device within your network and enable file sharing using the program mentioned above. You can designate which folders the 360 can access from the PC's hard drive. When done, make sure the file sharing is enabled.
4. Check your firewall settings and allow communications on specific ports (once again detailed info on the website).
5. When finished setting everything up, test your connection through the 360. It has testing utilities built right in. In order to do so, go to the media blade and choose music. When asked which storage device to play music from, choose PC and you should be able to find the test instructions or you should be able to connect to the PC already.

Good luck. Feel free to post problems/questions and I'll help as best I can. I'm fairly wet behind the ears also but will do my best to assist.

Damn, and I thought that it was as easy as plugging straight through with usb connections and that was that. Like the ipod.

Hey, thanks. I got my song. There's a few others I need to remember to get as well...if I can remember them.
