1. PS3 price Neo Geo and Saturn came in it astronomical prices and both failed. How will the PS3 succed.
2.Assassins Creed is far away the best looking thing on the PS3 (is this exlusive Ubi has only mention a PS3 version)
3.Gears of War is the truth. Epic has a shaky history with Story based games but this one seems like the real deal.
4.After the hype of red steel from G.I. actually seeing the trailer and some videos I have to say the game looks stupid.
5.But Zelda and Mario Galaxy looks sweet. Is Miyamoto directing Mario?
6.WTF did MS do to Shadowrun.
7.The difference between PS3 and Xbox360 the top tier games isn't much of difference definately not a $200 dollar one but there doesn't seem to be PS3 games that look bad. Some Xbox360 games look downright terrible. Maybe the ease of Programming allows devs to be lazier. And the PS3 tech make devs have to really work at it.
8.Medal of Honor Airborne looks sweet as hell even better than COD and BIA.
9.What about Sony Live?
10.KILLZONE??????????????
11.MGS is the all time trailer king for E3.
12. Western devs need better animatiors they need to try and still some from the movie industry.

My impressions are boring. . .because I'm not very impressed. Or maybe I've just developed more hype resistance than I used to have, and can only get excited about what is imminent. After all this. . . .
I'm still most excited about Okami and Mario DS.
I was more excited last gen when Eternal Darkness, Pikmin Animal Crossing, Rogue Squadron and Metroid Prime were on the horizon. For all the Wii's earth shattering potential, I don't see any new game concepts pushing boundries like Pikmin and AC. Based on Rockstar's recent 360 title, and what Nintendo is doing, maybe I should just buy a ping-pong table. And while the spooky "Sadness" trailer looked conceptually cool, I doubt the company has the kind of experience necessary to make a complelling game. I hope I'm wrong.
Now that the Wii is out of the bag, I want to play with it, but it's just so far away. Or my arms are too short.
The other two, hopefully someone will dig through the rubble and tell me what games I should be looking at--I'm sure there's something. I just keep seeing a bunch of little boys dressed up as soldiers playing endless variations of paintball.

No Devil May Cry 4 or Resident Evil 5 equals disappointment. Aside from Heavenly Sword and Warhawk, this E3 was a waste as far as games go.

-I was glad to hear more about Mass Effect, especially the combat system. This has become my #1 game for '06, as long as it comes out this year.
-It was great to read about Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, but I was a little disappointed Pandemic didn't have a 360 version running.
-After reading about the PS3 price, I didn't keep up with many of the games for the system.
-There wasn't a lot of new games announced during E3. Most of the games I'm interested in were either pre-E3 or announced even before that.
-GTA4 is still a good announcement, but since it's so far off, it doesn't have a lot of importance right now.
That's about it for me. After Monday's Sony news conference, I knew I was just going to be interested in games from the actual show.

I actually really enjoyed this E3. They changed the PS3 controller back, which is good. They showed off a bunch of really cool-looking games for the PS3, as well as for the Xbox 360. The Nintendo Wii was a smash hit, just as I thought it would be. And I also got to see an amazing number of great games for the PC, including the amazing looking BioShock, which looks like the SHIYAT! I don't know why many people were surprised with the PS3 price...everyone predicted that it would be expensive. Of course, it doesn't really hit home until it actually comes to fruition I guess.

We were surprised about the price because collectively, most of the Sony fanbase was expecting Sony to pull a bait and switch. No matter what Kutaragi said, we though the PS3 would come in with a low price point. We all ended up with egg on our face. Looking back, I was bordering on the naive when I expected a 350 dollar price. Personally, I think by this time next year, we'll see a price drop when Sony moves over actively to the 65 nm process. The price for the PS3 is probably so high because they are using the 90 nm process and that probably also accounts for the large size of the system.

If the core PS3 system had HDMI outputs, wifi, AND the 20Gigs, the $499 price tag wouldn't seem so bad. Also you can't buy cheap to start and build your PS3 up to the premium unit. That is probably why many have become disenchanted after Sony's price annoucement.
It seems Nintendo stole the show, unfortunately I don't think the buzz will be long lived. Unless Nintendo takes the kiddiecube image to task, why would anyone expect different this generation from the last.
MS, like it or not ultimately looked avante garde. Everyone laughed at the "rushed launch", "lack of games" , and system shortages. Either the previous statements have been proven false or get ready to laugh at the other launches.

I thought it was pretty meh.
ilnadmy, what's the scoop on Bioshock? This is another game I've been anticipating (spiritual successor of System Shock).

I dunno; the 90nm produces small wafers -- I doubt that's why the system is so big. It's big because it has everything but the kitchen sink, and needs good cooling.

I agree with joquito; buying the $500 PS3 is juts not an option -- even less than the $300 XBox. At least the cheaper 360 could be brought back up to pat with some cash, it's just that you lost out on money. With the PS3, can you attach the HDMI and WiFi options later? At best we can expect a plugout peripheral for that, which adds footprint to your already large PS3. That just sucks.
Unless Nintendo takes the kiddiecube image to task, why would anyone expect different this generation from the last.
Aren't they already releasing that hardcore Zelda and that Ubisoft shooter game? That's a good start for me.

It was much more fun checking out the E3 coverage this year because I am just not into it the same way as last year. That makes me a tad more unbiased(well at least as much as I can be) than in years past. With that being said here are my biggest impressions:
1. Nintendo stole the show hands down. They really looked like they prepared well for the show. The only question is whether they can put enough Wiis in the households of mainstream gamers to reach numbers anywhere close to the ones that they are looking for.
2. I will still not buy a Wii. Gaming with the remote control looks cool...for about an hour. Then I would be left with all of the same issues that I have had with Nintendo for the past several years...sick to death with their franchises.
3. Game of show is Gears of War. That game really dropped off the radar for me until reading all of the impressions from E3. Anyone that is not saying they are salivating at that game is probably lying. With that being said I hope that we do not have another...cough...Brute...cough cough...Force...cough on our hands. That would be real bad.
4. It is funny how the shoe is on the other foot for Sony now. Now Sony is going to be in the position of pushing for the business of the true technofiles. Sure many more people can afford the PS3 now than in years past, but will they??? I really think that Sony just gave MS a nice gift of marketshare with this one.
5. For all that has been said around here about the stupidity of MS when it comes to marketting their consoles talking up Nintendo was just frickin' brilliant. That is the only way that they will overtake Sony.
6. I have not read through all of the posts here at SW lately, but has nobody even mentioned Golden Axe? Unbelievable if it has not been mentioned. For me that was the best surprise of the show, and it is instantly near the top of my radar along with Gears of War, Too Human, Halo 3, and Forza 3.
7. Speaking of which Nintendo won the hardware battle this year with the Wii, but see the point above for the answer as to who won the battle of the games. MS has a really impressive lineup coming, and it made me feel really safe with my 360 purchase.
8. Was it me or did most of the Nintendo Wii offerings look pretty much last generation? I thought the new Zelda looked cool enough, but when is Nintendo going to step it up in the graphics department? They used to be really good at that.
9. The second biggest surprise of the show for me was certainly the announcement that GTA 4 will launch with the 360 along side the PS3. How could Sony let that one get away? I wonder how many people are out there like me and thinking to themselves that there is not a whole lot of reason to buy a PS3 now.
10. When the eff is Sony going to give us some details about their online plan?

They release it on the PC, I may play it. But I'm not touching it with a 10 foot pole on the 360.

They still make Golden Axe games?!

With that hardware? Are you kidding? Never. They're dead last in hardware anywhere, the only system still alive today that will have worse graphics is the PS2.

Only if GTA was the only thing you wanted on the Playstation. That said, I can totally see the PS3 not making it in the US. It will do just fine in Japan and elsewhere, but not in the US where it counts.
Looks like you got your account back!

When its all said and done i guarentee you the ps 3 will sell better then the xbox 360 in the U.S..Contrary to what has been said i doubt the PS 3 will comeout selling at $600 i bet it will be somewhere in the neighborhood of the 360's price range.

From what I've seen and read about GoW, I'm confident the game will not be another Brute Force.

Golden Axe is on my list of new E3 games I'm interested in, but I haven't found any details about the game yet. It's one of those 2007 games anyway, so pretty much all of those are on my back burner, for now (even Mercenaries 2 is on my backburner).
How about those O's so far this year?
