PS3, 360, Wii, DS, but no PSP.
Anyone have any news on this forgotten handheld?

Sony probably hadn't finalized it's PSP 2 yet, complete with 2 vertical touch screens. Oh the innovation of it all!

All I saw was a pic of an upcoming white PSP that is supposed to be released. Beyond that, haven't seen or heard anything.
Sony did however give a bunch of PSP goodies away during their press conference.
Perhaps Trebor is right. Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me.

Well, here's something.
E3 2006: Silent Hill Origins
We explore the history of the most twisted town in gaming.
by Jeff Haynes
May 9, 2006 - The Silent Hill franchise literally reinvented survival horror, where the true monster that wasn't necessarily the grotesque creatures that came at you on the screen, but the entire town that you found yourself in. The town of Silent Hill felt alive and malevolent, which added to the tension whenever your surroundings went from something familiar to the extremely strange. Now the place you would never want to visit is revisiting its roots as it leaps from consoles to the PSP with Silent Hill Origins.
We got a chance to take a look at this original tale, which reveals the history about what turned Silent Hill into such an incredibly twisted town to begin with. The story will center around a lone truck driver who's in the middle of a routine delivery and finds himself trapped in the city limits. Unfortunately, this man has an extremely troubled past, and as we discovered, had severe hallucinations and delusional episodes. As the town begins its descent into the madness that grips its streets and buildings, the player will be forced to confront these hallucinations as well as the strange monsters that inhabit Silent Hill.
Konami has gone out of its way to redefine the series to take advantage of the PSP, particularly with a new gameplay feature called the Barricade System. In previous Silent Hill titles, you essentially had to fight or flee, as there wasn't really a way to avoid pursuing monsters. With the Barricade System, you have the option to manipulate the environment, pushing furniture, scattered debris and other objects together to create obstacles that will impede their progress, giving you a little bit of sanctuary from the beasts for a short while.
We also gained some clues into the horror that the main character may have to come to grips with. Many of the images that we obtained show a number of hospital scenes, which seems to indicate at least a period of institutionalization when he was younger. It would also appear that the town seems to be feeding off of these traumatic memories, as a number of the monsters seem influenced by the mentally ill or infirmed. One creature appeared as if it was in a straightjacket, while another seemed fused to an off-kilter wheelchair.
With new control and combat schemes, as well as a new camera that's been specifically optimized for the PSP's button layout and a musical score by series composer Akira Yamaoka, Silent Hill Origins will be coming out next year. We'll have more details on this portable fright fest soon, but for now, check out some of these screens.

Maybe Sony felt that the PSP would be overshadowed by PS3, and has decided to hold any PSP news (HDD?) until later.

There's been a few tidbits thrown around here and there, but not as much as I'd like. Metal Gear: Portable Ops looks pretty good, as does GnG, but that's about it at the moment.

Well, good riddance to the PSP, personally.

Whats a PSP?
I have one. After reading about Lumines on Xbox Live, I was inspired to play it again, so I found my PsP, but it had sat so long it was dead.
It's at home charging now.
If not much changes, it's going to help me get a 360, Wii, or Ps3.

Psone emulation is all they really covered for the PSP at their press show. Ridge racer was shown running on an actual psp by Kaz and looked and sounded spot on. Other than that though, I have no clue what is going on with the PSP as far as the E3 is concerned to many other good things going on I guess to cover anything PSP related.

I love the PsP, simpely because it gave Nintendo the kick in the a$$ that has made the DS so great. So it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Rockstar announced a new GTA game for it, but personally, I'm sick of the franchise. GTA has lost it's luster, and has become the new Madden. But I think that was suppose to be the big gun for the PsP. However, Ultimate Ghouls and Ghosts will probably be a must buy.
Sony has no idea what people expect in a handheld as far as I'm concerned. I never play it, and will sell it ASAP. But I hope they continue to pursue the handheld market so Nintendo doesn't get complacent. Competition is good for us all. :D
If Nintnedo ever figures out how to get the GBA audience in America to switch to the DS, game over for the PsP. Lord knows Sony is done in Japan.

"covered"? That's quite an embellishment. Glossed over is what I'd call it. Seriously, I was - and continue to be - very dissapointed in the lack of PSOne/E-Distribution news. Of course, they only spent about 12 minutes total on the PSP in the presser - out of about 1:45 overall. That's pathetic.

Well they had to make time for the 10+ minutes of completely boring Gran Turismo HD footage.

...completely boring Gran Turismo HD footage.
Omigawd, what was that?! That bit... that redifines boring. What was the friggin point? Then again, the whole damn thing was boring. So incredibly boring. And I can't believe people had to wait 50 minutes for it to start on top of it all.(!)

Well it wasn't quite as bad as listening to Iwata speek for that 15 minutes or so during Nintendos deal, but it came close. Seriously they need to just get the guy a translator because it is painful to listen to his voice as well as figure out what the man is saying in completely broken english. I mean at least with the GT HD footage you could either mute it and look away or fast forward it if you downloaded it afterwards without feeling you missed a damned thing.
