It was over when Sony announced the 600 dollar price. Nintendo and M$ just put the nails in the coffin. Seriously, Mario and Zelda at Wii's launch, and a sh!tload of awesome games coming to the 360, including GTA 4?

I've never seen this level of ownage in my life. Wii+ 360 = perfect gaming set-up.

Xbots and N-tards become best friends in one day.

Lumines Live

DDR Universe

Forza 2 this Fall

GTA4

All I need is DMC4 for the 360, and I won't care about PS3 ever. Till it comes out.

And in the shadows of major announcements like that are plenty of cool little tidbits, like Lumines on Xbox live arcade, LIVE, playing music videos as backgrounds.

Does Contra on xbla feature online co-op mode?

GTA4 is great, but in episodic content form, I dunno.

I thought the game was going to ship this year as well. I need to clean off my glasses.

GTA was one of two known next-gen games that would have me wanting a PS3 (Heavenly Sword was the 2nd).

looking at that has me worried too. But it also looks like the Episodic content is just exlusive. So maybe the game will launch on the PS3 as well but have Episodeic content only on the 360.

E3 06: Grand Theft Auto 4 coming to Xbox 360, PS3 in 2007
[UPDATE] At its pre-E3 press conference, Microsoft confirmed that the next Grand Theft Auto is coming to the Xbox 360 in October of next year. In an official announcement, Rockstar Games confirmed simultaneous launch on PS3.

LOS ANGELES--In one of the most shocking announcements at E3, Microsoft revealed that it quite literally stole away some of Sony's audience. One of the PlayStation's most notoriously popular franchises, the Grand Theft Auto series, is confirmed to be coming to the Xbox 360. Previous editions of GTA were released exclusively on the PlayStation 2 in October, and were later ported to the Xbox. Now we know that Grand Theft Auto 4 will be hitting the Xbox 360 on "day one", alongside the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

At today's Microsoft pre-E3 conference, Peter Moore pulled back his right shirt sleeve and revealed the familiar Halo 2 logo. Duping the audience into thinking that a new Halo was about to be announced, the Englishman then pulled back his left shirt sleeve, which revealed a tattoo that showed a Grand Theft Auto IV logo.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be available on October 16, 2007, in North America, and October 19 in Europe.

Moore did announce that Microsoft and Rockstar have signed an exclusive agreement to provide episodic content via Xbox Live, though he did not specifically limit the content to GTAIV.

Following the announcement during the Microsoft press conference, Rockstar Games issued a press release confirming that GTAIV would be hitting both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously in the fall of 2007. The brief announcement specifically confirms that Scotland-based Rockstar North, creators of the previous GTA titles, will be developing the game.

No wonder you're so pissed!

Probably the main reason I got a 360 so quickly was because I had Live, otherwise I might've waited for up to a year.

This E3 stuff free on the Marketplace is something good, I tells ya. I'm making a whole friggin day out of this nonsense!

And it's still cool that 360 gamers will be getting extra content for GTA4 that PS3 gamers won't have. One of the big stinks that people used to make was that GTA came out on Sony first, XBOX later. Now they're the same. It still hurts Sony more than it does MS.

Sony is losing ground to the Xbox, but the game is far from over. It's still going along the forecasts of some analysts: Sony will lsoe market to the 360, but will not lose the war.

The PS3 still has its GTA4, it's just that the Xbox gets the same thing. Personally I always thought GTA fit the Xbox better than the Playstation, I guess Rockstar is finally taking the steps to transition.

Obviously though what's happening is that devs are wary of the PS3 and its pricetag, and right now previous Sony-sided devs are now putting their eggs in two baskets. This will only be concluded when the PS3 actually comes out and we see how well it sells.

Once (if) the PS3 starts selling like pancakes, dev anxiety will be quelled and we'll be seeing the usual strong Playstation support.

With an installed base and plenty of units available for 360 vs. few Ps3's avaiable (at a high price) anyone in America that would buy one console or the other primarily because of Grand Theft Auto is going to get the 360.

The H3 trailer wasn't as cool as the H2 trailer back in the day. It was nice looking, and gave away what the story will be, but it was also short, and showed no signs of being anything more than what Halo already was, and that's a decent sci-fi FPS. I thought the BiA Hell's Highway was way more interesting. Reminded me of the Killzone cg, only this was in-game.

Well you guys all know what I think about episodic content. I think it's a jack-ass idea built to squeeze more cash out of you. Why sell a game once for $60 when you can sell it ten times for $20 each or something.

I feel the same way. Plus, I'd much rather have my entire game slapped on one disc to be played from beginning to end when I choose, instead of waiting around for a couple of crumbs a month for this "episodic content".

First Sony is NOT dead, far from it!

Sony is NOT this stupid, I think what they will do is reduce the price before launch. The 60GB version will be $500, and the 20GB version will be $400, there are already rumors of this circulating at E-3 according to IGN. If this is the case, PS3 will be very much alive, especially when u factor in buying a HD-DVD peripheral will push the cost of a top of the line 360 over the price of a PS3.

Next, GTA is huge. Not from a gameplay perspective, because hopefully the gameplay will be improved, if not I won't be getting it. But it is a huge deal because it pierces this veil that has protected PS2 for so long. It is more symbolic than important from a gaming perspective.

But Sony I think is winning the show. They really know how to do these shows and Microsoft is boring. But MS actually has made some great practical announcements. They have introduced a new Wireless ForceFeedback racing wheel that LOOKS GREAT! It is MS developed by the division that made the Sidewinder joystick which I loved on the PC. This wheel looks hot, the pedals look hot!

Next, MS is boring the hell out of me, but the games they will be releasing this year are HUGE, there will be a lot of great games and like DT said, when you add those games to the games already released, once the euphoria generated by Sony dies down, the question will be how are they going to tackle these MS games?

But I believe PS3 is far from dead. They still have a chance, Sony is either crazy or smart like a fox. I don't believe Sony is crazy, I believe the PS3 is going to deliver some INDUSTRY elevating games, that will NOT be possible on the 360. Mark my words, Sony has some BOMBS up there sleeve. And what we may be seeing here is role reversal. People are crying about Sony's price, but they make take the hardcore crowd techno-geek crowd this generation. The question for Sony is how fast they can get their heavy hitters to market, they can't give MS an entire year of superior or equal games. I'm looking forward to PS3, I think the price will be dropped to $500 for the 60GB version, and for all that tech i'll snap it up at that price. I don't like what they are doing with the controller though, the motion sensing stuff is cool, relying on the dual shock design is crap, and dropping vibration support is crap. Its gonna feel weird playing games with no vibration feedback!

I will tell you this. I want to thank MS for the XBOX. Thanks to MS we get all of this goodness. Without the XBOX, there is no way we see this kind of technology this soon from Japan. And I think both companies still have some major surprises. Nintendo, i'm sorry this is the end for you. I know a lot of guys here don't think so, but I think consumers are going to not find Revolution compelling. Yes it may launch well, just like GC, but look for this thing to die sooner than GC did. They just cannot compete with the NUMBER and QUALITY of games on 360 an PS3. Honestly does anybody see Revolution having games that can compete against Halo3, Gears of war Mass Effect, Oblivion, Too Human, Forza 2, and that's just Microsoft's games. And Sony is gonna be pimping 1080P and blu-ray games, while Wii is answering with 480i, big stupid mistake is all I can say.

I'm outta here time to download the 40 mile demo of TEST DRIVE!!!!

GTA IV will realease day and date with the ps3 version. The episodic content will be exclusive to the 360 version. Interesting that MS thinks its important and Sony didn't even mention GTA IV at their presser.

Alan Wake will be a 360 and windows vista exclusive along with Shadowrun. Fable 2, Forza 2 this year, a slew of games. Wireless racing wheel and wireless headset coming along with the hd-dvd drive.

Live anywhere. Lumines Live is just a great marketing concept.

Oh, and lets nix those ps3 price drop rumors. Straight from ken.

Krazy Ken's at it again. Following the surprise pre-E3 announcement of the PlayStation 3 price, Sony Computer Entertainment head Ken Kutaragi spoke with Japan's IT Media and offered up this beauty: "It's probably too cheap."

Kutaragi explained to IT Media why be believes the price isn't a problem:

"This is the PS3 price. Expensive, cheap -- we don't want you to think of it in terms of game machines. Because the PS3 is like nothing else.

For instance, is it not nonsense to compare the charge for dinner at the company cafeteria with dinner at a fine restaurant? It's a question of what you can do with that game machine. If you can have an amazing experience, we believe price is not a problem.

When we announced the PlayStation price, it was said to be expensive. Same for the PlayStation 2. However, when released, both had sales that were unthinkable for previous game machines. This is because both offered experiences that could not be had on previous game machines.

With the PS3, you can have next generation game experiences that could previously not be experienced -- things like next generation graphics and various services via the network. And, as with the PS and PS2, we believe people who like games will, without question, purchase it."

Ken said, its too cheap. You're getting a bargoon.

Those of us who don't think so have a reason. There is every reason to believe Nintendo can achieve with the Wii in Japan the same thing it has done with the DS: expand beyond the traditional gamer.

In the US, you will at least see the Nintendo faithful as well as a lot of curious gamers. Will NIntendo be able to expand the definition of "who a gamer is" in the US? The advertising concepts shown at the press conference seem promising. . .but they will have to be willing to pony up on the advertising this time around and saturate the media.

"The end for Nintendo" seems a long shot bet, TMG, and you've made a pretty weak case for it.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be available on October 16, 2007, in North America, and October 19 in Europe.

If that ship date holds then it won't be simultaneous; it will come out on the 360 before the PS3. Because the PS3 won't even be out by then; it's not due to arrive in NA until November 17.

Still not exclusive. But releasing simultaneously at the worst.

I am, surprisingly, in agreement with TMG.

Sony is not dead yet, even with the $600 price point (there were sops paying $1000 for the 360). On the price drop thing, this could be yet another ruse where they "shock" you with the $600 price point so that when they lower it by $100 at actual launch you'll psychologically think it's a bargain. Even though it's still $100 more expensive than the 360! That said, I don't think this is likely.

The GTA is also a huge thing; simultaneous launch means Sony lost one damn huge trump. I personally don't care for GTA, but we all know it's one of Sony's biggest selling exclusives. Personally though I think it's about time it went to the 360, it's more an Xbox kind of a game in my opinion.

No Surprise to me, TMG has made plenty rational comments in favor of the competition and I can respect that! I read his entire post...good read!

No Sony is not dead yet, I have faith and I know PS3 will be quite impressive regardless. I said this last year and I will say it again. I think 360 might have a very good chance in winning the console war this gen. The system is quite impressive; Halo 3 blew me away, GT4 release alongside the PS3 version? Damn, MS is hauling ass!

Halo 3 is doing what Halo 2 did for me back in 04...I am disturbingly excited about it, Aside from MGS4 and Zelda TP....not one PS3 or Wii game is generating that kind of euphoria in my head! I am incredibly jealous! Halo 3 you are my sin!

Yeah, I caught that after. Oops. LOL

It's just that my senses are being overloaded. Because of the power of the internet, it's practically like we're there too. (Not really, but...) We get to see the press conferences, viddy trailors, and with Xbox Live, download the newest demos for some of our own hands-on experiences.

But some of the exposure is a bit ridiculous. Like IGN and their posting news every 5 minutes. Including excerpts from the pressers; giving us virtual sentence by sentence updates of what's being said. Sheesh. My head's spinning. Still.

Plus, I've fallen behind. And now I'm effed. A news bit I wanted to look at on Monday is now buried under a thousand new news-bits and articles. Aaaargh!

MMA, baby! I so want to see Gracie vs Hughes at the end of this month. I've been a fan of Royce since UFC1, and I've followed him pretty much through his days up till now. His fight vs Sakaruba was nuts, and so was the one with Akabono, the fattest dude I've seen in these fights. Pride Fighting is also good, but other than Gracie fights, I haven't seen much Pride since about eight years ago.

Wow. I just Yahoo-ed Royce Gracie videos, and some of his best wins and losses are on there for all to see.

Screw the UFC! Pride all the way! I just watched the OW TE Absolute, yeah!!! Barnett is back, with a vengeance, and he's got Fedor's head in his sights! He just screwed Aleksander over bigtime.

I didn't get to watch Hoyce's fight with Akebono, but his fight with Sakuraba was insane. Well, it was funny how his "I want no time limits!" turned against him and he ended up throwing the towel out of attrition. BTW, I'm a huge Sakuraba fan. :)

Seriously Cuddly, I enjoy UFC as well but I honestly think Pride is a cut above it. The rules make it better and allow for more intense fights -- 4 point attacks, yellow cards for stalling really force the fighters to work, and with a 10 minute round that's a hell of a lot of work. Restarts at the edge of the ring ensure no advantages to ground and pounders who like to hedge up against the octagon fence.

You should try getting back into Pride; the fights there today are even better and more intense than what they were 8 years ago, and the array of talent is over the roof. One of my major problems with the UFC is the lack of heavyweight talent, there are like 3 maybe 4 people worth squat in the heavyweight division of the UFC today (Frank Mir no longer counts among them!). I was disgusted at that pathetic display I think in UFC 57 or 58 where they got these 2 heavy weights who gassed out in round 1 and were just standing there ready to drop, just waiting for the other guy to throw a decent punch. I mean WTF, where is the quality control.

UFC's lightweight division is also in shambles, whereas Pride is pouring it in with Bushido. All in all I would say if you're into MMA, Pride is the way to go, but UFC also has its time slot in my leisure time.

I am so looking forward to Gracie Hughes. While it looks like Hughes will just plow through him, Gracie is quite a bit bigger than Hughes, so Hughes' usual advantage of power will not be as pronounced. Further, Gracie's ground game is better, even if Hughes can do slams. Hughes' gameplan should be to keep it standing; his Miletich training should let him do reasonably well, and avoid courting death by going to the ground.

While Hughes has some sort of invulnerability to armbars and triangles (as he can just pick you up and slam you if you try it) he will nto be able to do so in later rounds when he is tired. Also, Royce has a nasty single leg takedown, and is very good when he gets into the mount, transitioning to rear mount and getting the rear naked choke. Most people are writing Gracie off (and with good reason) but I would like to see Gracie win this one.
