Okay, I hate the nub. Even though I've grown kinda used to the thing by now, forced to it because the PSP's d-pad absolutely blows (what's diagonals olol), I'll always have a deep seated loathing of the carpal-tunnel-giving-finger-cramping little bastard.

And because the PSP has so many good games coming out I figured I'd have to do something about it. It was about that time I happened across some replacement nubs at EB. I was kinda skeptical at first, 5 bucks for 3 plastic mushrooms-shaped analog nubs...it seemed kinda cheap at first glance. But I figured I didn't have much to lose and went ahead and bought them anyway.

So I take em home, and after about 40 seconds worth of work my PSP has gone from "The Uncomfortable Portable" to "OH HELL YES I LOVE THIS YAY". It still obviously shifts left and right like the old nub did, but it has a larger surface and comes off the face of the PSP a bit so it's much easier to hold. It more than pays for the 5 bucks and less than a minute of installation I spent with it, and I wholeheartedly recommend grabbing a pack of new-nubs if you see it.

Here's a shot of the finished product. (http://users.chartertn.net/greymatt/newnub.jpg) It crowds the d-pad a bit, but that's no problem for
me since I never use it other than to select my savegame files.

The only complaint I have is that I can no longer use my spiffy Logitech Playgear case. But it's worth the sacrifice.

The new thumb-numb looks good. The flower pots on the other hand. . .

Don't blame those on me, they're not mine.
